  1. Hi, Mark. Have you tried the ABER range? I seem to recall they do some 1/16th scale PE stuff. Also give Welsh Dragon Models a try. Hope this helps. Chris.
  2. That's very good news! I'm hoping to see it at the first Tiger Day, or - failing that - sometime in May. Cheers for the info. Chris.
  3. For everyone's information..... A selection of Cobra Company update sets are now marketed by Lone Star Models. Unfortunately, if my memory serves me correctly, it doesn't include any of the MI-24 sets. Cheers. Chris.
  4. Hi, Biggles81. Thanks for the info. Let's hope it's a very good set, after all this build-up! Chris.
  5. IQ OF 45! I'm aspiring to get into double-figures! The nice man who lives in the woods told me it will happen one day..... Chris.
  6. Best stuff I've found is "Paint Strip". Comes in a bottle about four-inches high. I know that Hannants used to sell it, not too sure if they still do. It's about a fiver a bottle. Follow the instructions to the letter and it will remove just about any paints or finishes used in model-making. Hope this helps. Chris.
  7. As a suggestion.... DAS clay? I think I've got the name right - it's either DAS or DAZ. If memory serves me right, a half-kilo block can be had on E-Bay for around £6.00 (ex-delivery). I would have thought it would be a much more practical solution than expanding-foam. Good Luck, my friend. Chris.
  8. The Randy Cooper version looks really MASSIVE and quite a challenge to build, I would hazard a guess..... Looking forward to seeing how these bad-boys will progress. Cheers. Cheers.
  9. That's great news on some of Cobra's gear still being on sale..... I'm mighty temped to put in an order (or two). Cheers for sharing. Chris.
  10. Hi, garynumanfan. Looking at your comment about the Modelzone sections in some WH Smiths, does this mean that the newsagents are no longer wanting to pay for these sections? I have noticed that the MZ in the London Shepherds Bush Smiths has been shrinking very rapidly recently - so this might suggest that they are planning to get rid of them...? Mind you, when you look at their prices, a lack of success doesn't come as a massive shock. Cheers. Chris.
  11. A great idea, my friend. I can see this one starting a real trend in big AFV modelling. Thanks for sharing. Chris.
  12. Afternoon, All. Last year, Italeri said they would be producing the above figure set (but didn't). Hannants have had it listed as a "Future Release" for some months now. Does anyone have any more information about a release date? Many thanks. Chris.
  13. Hi, James. I certainly wouldn't described myself as a Starfighter expert, but here goes.... I recently bought a copy of the DACO Publications photo reference to European F-104's and it's an truly amazing reference work (I would recommend begging, borrowing or stealing a copy to any F-104 fan). If I remember correctly, there were three Euro air-forces which outfitted their aircraft with the Martin-Baker bang-seat later on in their service (I THINK Germany was one country that performed the upgrade, but my memory t'aint what it used to be...). I also seem to recall that the longer tail-pipe arrangement was introduced from the "S" model onward (again, my memory on this is fairly wobbly). Sorry I can't be of more help. There are members on here who will be able to tell you anything you want to know, I'm sure. Good luck, my friend. Chris. PS: Have you looked at the F-104 "walk around" reference sections on Britmodeller and also at "Prime Portal"? Both are worth a look...
  14. Call me somewhat biased, but I would hazard a guess that the market for this will have trouble hitting single figures.....? But - for all I know - this may be a "cult favourite" in the market it's aimed at. Who knows? Chris.
  15. Excellent build and painting skills on display here, my friend. Thanks very much for sharing with us. Chris.
  16. Oh, blimme. We all make mistakes, but this one is an absolute stormer. Why would the pilot believe that the RF-4 was in any way a real threat to the carrier? It's such a weird and messed-up story... Chris.
  17. Damn, how on earth did I miss such an excellent bargain....? It's a good job I already have six of these lurking in the stash (only kidding). Chris.
  18. The kit looks great in the photos, but what's up with those track links? Please tell me Trumpy haven't moulded every single track-link individually. It'll take a week of solid work just to remove them from the sprue-trees and - oh lordy - all that sanding...! "Link-and-length" style tracks sound a bit more likely, but I will want to have a very close look in the box before buying this one..... Cheers for sharing. Chris.
  19. Not wanting to rain on anyone's parade, but I would be VERY surprised if the T-72 is that cheap. Are Veteranus guestimating a price there? Just saying, folks.... No disrespect intended on my part. Chris.
  20. That is "not great" news..... There were a number of CC resin sets I would have liked to own, but I guess that won't happen now. I contacted Chris from Cobra Company a few years ago and received a very short reply from him (not rude exactly, but leaving me in no doubt that he didn't want to ship to the UK. Since that time, I've been told he used to post his stuff outside of the US, but you have to do a bit of sweet-talking first). I was very lucky to receive help from a member of Britmodeller who lives States-side. He purchased a 1/35th scale MI-24 Hind exterior resin upgrade set on my behalf and posted to my UK address (many thanks, John!) I had been lusting after the Hind set for years, so I'm very grateful to him. I wonder what his reasons for shutting his business down were? Too much competition from places like the Czech Republic, maybe? Cheers. Chris.
  21. I reckon the first colour image above has solved that one..... Cheers. Chris.
  22. I'm definitely no expert on WW2 vehicles, but it looks like it could be the head on an "entrenching" tool to me. Why it would not be attached to the wooden handle of the tool (if that's what it is), I couldn't say..... Hope this is of some help. Chris. PS: Or possibly the fuel-cap cover...??
  23. Several years ago, I attended a talk given by the Head of Aircraft Preservation at Duxford. He claimed that the IWM had discussed the possibility of Duxford having an F-117 on display and an American VIP had stated "I would be happy for you to have one, as I know you would look after it properly." I'm guessing that the idea was then shelved, as we are probably talking 7 or 8 years ago now. It would look very impressive next to the SR-71, as hinted by a previous poster..... Chris.
  24. Excellent stuff, my friend. Thanks very much for sharing with us. Chris.
