  1. When the Israelis are added these cages to their latest tanks, you just know the battlefield threat situation is extremely serious. Thanks for sharing with us. Chris.
  2. If it's anything like the recent Voyager kit, it should be a sharp and well-detailed model. I think the days of Revell bringing out poorly-engineered kits are probably nearly over (yep, I know that the 1/32 F/A-18 is of a very questionable standard, but apparently that was a real "rush job". Why? No idea). Hope this helps. Chris. .
  3. Yep, as much as we might like to collect every darned one of a series of books, I think there are always some practical issues. I started collecting Squadron Signal's "Walk Around" aircraft books about 9 years ago and I'm still nowhere near completing the set. I noticed there is an E-Bay seller offering the complete Walk Around books - I think they are asking around £1,400 for them. I wish him the best of luck in flogging them all in one go. He'd be much better off selling them individually, although it will take WAY more effort to do so. Cheers. Chris.
  4. The only thing that occurs to me here.... Plastruct do some strip with an L-Shaped cross-section. Would it be viable to use two lengths of that and glue the "upper section" of the top-hat shape on to them? Only thing is, I don't think they do the L-shapes in anything like as large as you specify with your diagram... Wishing you all the best. Chris.
  5. Thanks for your reply, Tempestfan. To be honest, they're not really my thing, when it comes to aircraft pictorials. I prefer the more modern version, where you can see the shape of the bolts-heads, holding the oil-sump in place. Still, I know they have their fans and that's fair enough - "to each, their own". One model-trader told me that folks like them, as they can see some good , historical photos and get a bit of a feel for what they're building, without having to go down the £70.00 "Mega-Volume" route. Cheers. Chris.
  6. I'm finding this very interesting. By coincidence, I bought just over 200 editions of Aircraft Profiles at an aviation-enthusiasts fair on Sunday. Now, I'm going have to decide what to do with the blooming things... Cheers. Chris.
  7. Not that sure why they bothered doing an injection-moulded Spice Harvester. To my eye, it looks like a shoe-box, with added tracks. Definitely the worst bit of design, in a movie filled with some stunning, innovative space-ships and vehicles. More an afterthought, than a fully thought-out device? Just my personal opinion, of course. Cheers. Chris.
  8. Could I respectfully suggest you acquire some larger underwear? Cheers (tongue-tipped-with-stainless-steel-teeth-very-much-in-cheek). Chris.
  9. What a remarkable story, Ben! I love the fact that he went on to have a career in aviation. Thanks for sharing with us. Chris.
  10. BONKERS! Is anyone actually gonna fall for this one.....? Give me 60 quid and a bag of bog-roll tubes and some old hoover air-hoses and I'll build you a Xeno at this scale. Cheers. Chris.
  11. Hi, Gary. Sorry to hear about your troubles. There is an easier / cheaper solution than using oils. I'd recommend you get hold of some Flory Models weathering washes. Clay and water based, pretty much guaranteed not to have any affect on the finish you're applying them on to. The biggest single advantage? If you don't like the effect you've created, simply wipe them off with a moist bit of kitchen-towel and start from scratch again. Also, Phil Flory is in the UK, so postal-charges should be pretty reasonable. I've read that a single bottle of wash should last for 5-10 1/48th scale fighters. Hope this helps. Chris.

  13. I can only echo what other folks have previously posted..... just plain superb! I love the weathering and the afterburner cans look extra cool. Thanks for sharing with us. Chris.
  14. As other folks have posted, these are just superlative images. The vapour coming off the F-35 wings really make the shots come alive. Thanks for sharing with us. Chris.
  15. Looking forward to this show. Always worth a visit. Cheers. Chris.
  16. Does breathing the MDF dust still (possibly) give you lung-cancer? Something to be aware of, if it's true... Cheers. Chris.
