  1. I have built a few of the SH / MPM Fulmars (3) one with folded wings see build thread below and have more (2) in the stash. TBH you can get a really good model from the SH kit but it needs work (fitting resin cockpits) and some scratch. I was wondering, for those with this boxing, could you cross kit the Trumpeter folding wing with the rest of the SH/MPM kit? Might be expensive but if you want a folding wing could be a solution..
  2. Brilliant stuff. Marvellous modelling.. I especially like FN430 the MkI (well I would)…
  3. I just googles Miles Master Cockpit and found a number of photos that might help you. Give it a bash… Basically just under the cockpit sill…
  4. Lovely work Chris. I am going to have to study your exhaust painting technique…. Seafire III is of course my favourite…
  5. Thank you Mike, for your comments. I think the Sky, EDSG finish is so smart too. The Fireflies on HMS Triumph were WWII MkIs. Photos show a mix of both TSS ans Sky EDSG aircraft on deck. Oceans aircraft were the later Mks so I would need to do some research to get that right…
  6. Thank you @georgeusa to me, the model is part of a story that should not be forgotten.
  7. Couple of models I have just managed to finish up. The Korea pair should have been completed as part of the "Here comes the Fleet Air Arm" Group Build but unfortunately I became unwell and was unable to finish them until now. Not quite up to my usual standard but I am hoping to get back there. Anyway - here we go.. First up Supermarine Seafire 47 VP480/180P 800 NAS, 13th CAG, HMS Triumph. Korea Aug 1950 13.08.50 Armed Reconnaissance Chinnampo Harbour Korea. Flown by Lt RA "Dick" Peters. Airfix 1/48. Barracuda replacement bonnet. Airscale instrument decals. Colour Coats Enamel paint. OOB Decals. Next For six decades, the credit for the first jet kill by a piston engine fighter in Korea had gone to Lt Peter “Hoagy” Carmichael. This was accepted fact however, recent research has proven beyond doubt the actual pilot who bagged the Mig-15 was another pilot in Carmichaels Flight, Sub Lieutenant Brian “Smoo” Ellis. Ellis has now been given official recognition for his amazing feat of airmanship. Hawker Sea Fury FB.11. WJ223/O106 802 NAS, HMS Ocean. Korea 09.08.1952. Mig-15 Destroyed SLt Brian "Smoo" Ellis. Airfix 1/48. Barracuda cowling & engine. Eduard interior and exterior detail sets. Paint:- Colourcoats enamel Markings:- Fundekals Did go quite as hoped. Fitters need to do a bit more cleaning on the airframe Last up Eastern Built Wildcat V JV384 6*F 882 NAS, HMS Searcher Operation Hoops May-1944 06.05.44 0820 2x BV138 Shared Destroyed with JV538/7*X(?). He had previously served in Orange Section, ‘A’ Flight, 806 NAS HMS Indomitable Operation Pedestal Aug-1942 12.08.40 S.79 Destroyed, Re.2001 Destroyed. Grumman Martlet MkII AM968/8M. Kit:- Hobby Boss FM-1 1/48 Paint:- Colourcoates Enamels Markings:- Mix of what I had available. Thanks for stopping by..
  8. 804 rather than an 806 bird but my interpretation of N1951 flown by the CO LtCdr JM Bruen. Sratched wingfold, gun bay, rear spars etc…. If you do the SH Fulmar (1/48), the rather nice resin cockpits take quite a bit of fitting. I you want the Observers cockpit open you need to scratch the front canopy section and sliding section.
  9. The soon to be released Trumpeter Fulmar comes with, I understand a wing fold (about 6 months after I scratch built mine)…. 🤬

  11. I think I am going to start my year with a 1/72 Consolidated Liberator GRV - I will be doing BZ778/G of 53 Squadron. I am then at some point in the year rebuild this: 1/48 Eduard Hellcat II JX772/X119 To this:- 1/48 Eduard Hellcat II JX772/X119 Engine being serviced, wings folded, maybe gun bays open (correct windscreen). I am a distant cousin of Bill Atkinson and would like to update my model of his aircraft.. @iang @EwenS although this aircraft is done to death I might come by asking further questions...🤔 Beyond that I have a few projects on the list (mainly FAA) but also a Hawker Typhoon going in for a rocket attack, but as a slow builder I'm not committing myself to too much....
  12. I’m going to follow if I may. Some super work going on here. I too have never built a B24 (in about 50 years of building) and am planning to start a Costal Command GRV in about a week or so. I am determined not to go down the rabbit hole of detail though, only detailing what I think will be seen. Like the bombsight in the nose. Are you going to be adding the bombsight? Your build has started marvellously, good luck with the remainder..
  13. At long last I am going to declare the Seafire 47 complete. I know it is well beyond the end date for the GB but unfortunately I was unwell and unable to complete. Even now you can see areas where my unsteady hands would not cooperate. Although posting the completed model here, it will not be entered into the gallery. Supermarine Seafire 47 VP480/180P. 800 NAS. 13th CAG HMS Triumph. Korea Aug 1950 Lt RA “Dick” Peters. Airfix 1/48. Barracuda Cowling & Exhaust. I hope to complete the Sea Fury before Year New as the next post. Thanks for looking in
  14. Nice start, nice collection and nice theme. Good luck with your builds.. My own theme is Aces of the Fleet Air Arm and the aircraft they scored victories in. About 33 of 50 complete so far. Discipline to your theme will limit “Scope Creep” on you stash……. Right! 🤪
  15. @noelh this is the kit I used. Purchased from Hannants UK. As I say I built it as a belated attempt to have something to show in the Clubs Air Corps 100 display, which in turn was part of the Irish IPMS Nationals. The fact I did ‘280’ was the result of a bit of a challenge from a club member, who knew there was no decal set. 280 WIP. Subset (from a different show) of the Air Corp 100 exhibit (Pilates PC12 only is mine). Thread steel over…. 👍
  16. I think I need to investigate Liberator Bomb Bays now. See how the Aux Tank mentioned by @EwenS mentioned and to see how the ten DCs would have been mounted..
  17. Also no other 53 Sqn attack is noted in the ORB as being made using RPs.
  18. Looking at 53 Sqn Summary of events ORB in October, 53 Sqn were off Ops on 30/10 for Leigh Light training. BZ778 and one other were flown to Scottish Aviation on 31/10, I guess for Leigh Light fitting. This means that BZ778 would not be Leigh Light fitted 14/10..
  19. Liberator GRV BZ778 ‘G’. 53 Squadron St Eval, Oct 14th 1943. One project I am looking to build in 2024 is a representation of Costal Command Liberator BZ778 ‘G’ of 53 Sqn RAF and I am looking for information on how it would be equipped and armed. I have a Great Uncle by marriage F/Sgt Earnest Barge who was Co Pilot on this aircraft. Unfortunately, he was killed in a take off accident later in the war but I would like to build the Liberator based on a mission I know he completed. I am going to use the Eduard “Riders in the sky 1944” boxing of the Liberator GRV and I have acquired 250lb Depth Charges for the bombload used on Oct 14th (as per ORB). I am trying to work out what the aircraft would have looked like. I am comparing against the various schemes given in the kit instructions. Most of these are based around 311 Sqn aircraft but I assume by working out where BZ778 fits between the various schemes I should get a reasonable view (does that logic sound right?) of how the aircraft was equipped / armed. The instructions have a scheme for BZ774 which is equipped with the retractable radar radome in the ventral gun turret position (not the Dumbo nose). The aircraft has a winglet fitted either side of the nose with RP rails fitted. The instructions also have a scheme for BZ779 which is equipped as above, including the rocket rails. My question is, does anyone know if 53 Sqn used RPs same as 311? Would BZ778 have been armed with the winglets and RPs on 14th Oct 43 (the ORB only mentions DCs – Percussion K1)? Am I right to assume that BZ778 would look just like BZ779? Any suggestions greatly received.. Regards
  20. Not sure if any use. Was on Wiki.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:The_Cenotaph_-_original_design_for_the_structure_in_Whitehall_Art.IWMART3991a.jpg
