  1. Hello all, I am tempted to enter another F-16 for the GB but would like to know a few facts. I plan to enter a USAF F-16CG/CJ and here are my queries: 1. For CAS ops in Iraq/Afghanistan, what would be a 'typical' loadout? 2. Are fuselage stiffener plates used on Block 50/52's or just the earlier blocks? 3. Is the configuration in this picture (the sniper & HTS fit) only applicable to block 50/52 jets? Any help would be appreciated. Dave
  2. I can't speak for the others Kev1n, but i'd be happy to let you have the book as a thanks for running the GB! Dave
  3. Thanks chaps. Will hopefully look a lot tidier with a lick of paint on! Dave
  4. A little more progress for those interested. Tidied up the whole airframe and smoothed over the sanded areas: Added the metal AOA probe that comes with the wolfpack set. I don't normally use these as the kit part suffices, but in this case i had to as the kit one broke! Bored out a small hole and fixed it in place with superglue: Tidied up area around the front pallets: Overall shot of the jet: Just a few more little things to do then it's off for a bath and a prime. More to follow. Dave
  5. A bit more progress to show. Tail fins on and the rear end tidied up and smoothed over: Same with the fuselage join (though i managed to snap the triangular frame off the rear resin piece and snap the control column!!): Wolfpack pallets installed and ventral strakes added: The forward wolfpack pallets need a bit of work to fit due to the 'step' in the fuselage join. As the resin is quite stiff, it is very difficult to get a good seal over the remnants of the 'step,' hence the filler. Chin pod also on: Next up is to finish off the sanding and give a general tidy up. More to follow. Dave
  6. Agreed with Wellzy here! Good work mate. I'll be adopting a few of your ideas (or trying to to) Dave
  7. I'm no expert on the matter, but I built a 1/48 Revell Typhoon and added Aviation workshop ASRAAM's to supplement the kit ones. Comparing them, the kit parts are smaller, slimmer and slightly shorter than the lovely resin examples. Thus, I would assume, the kit missiles are a tad inaccurate, but as i say, i'm no expert! Dave
  8. Some great shots there. Think my 1/144 Shuttle is going to come to the front of the stash once my resin SSME's arrive from the States. Dave
  9. That's i good idea! I have one on ARC, didn't figure to put one here! Dave
  10. Fancy sparing it mate?
  11. That's a cracking build there mate. I have an old monogram D model in the loft i think. I don't know if i'd like the idea of mixing raised and recessed panels! I'm not one for re-scribing! Don't think i'll be doing anything until i can source the decals. Don't have any leftovers do you? Failing all that, i might just opt for a 1/144 kit! Dave
  12. Would anyone have a F-16 boarding ladder from a 1/48 Hasegawa kit that they will not be needing? Cheers Dave
  13. Magic! Thanks mate. If you have any of the red RBF tags left over from your build, i'd gladly buy them off you if you no longer have a need for them! Dave
  14. Hello all, Just noticed this on the news and thought it would be worthwhile to share: Discovery. Dave
  15. Agreed Mish. I never would have known that! Thanks Rich! Dave
  16. Thanks Rich. I bet you got that from the Isradecal book Dave
  17. Another little bit done. Added the coamings for the IP's and the rear panel behind the Rio's office. I chopped too much off the plastic at the front and rear left of the cockpit so hence the filler. Nose cone also attached with the complimentary filler! Gun vents on with the usual poor fit and subsequent filler: Fuselage halves attached: Surprise surprise, a lovely step on the lower join (dun dun duhhh): Next up is to tidy the above mess and clean up all the filler. More to follow. Dave
  18. What way is the poll Working Kev1n? Is it the most votes overall, or by scale eg. most 72nd votes, 48th and so on? Dave
  19. Haha, thanks mate! Feels a bit odd even taking it out of the cupboard, but i need a bit of a change! The Close Air Support GB is coming up soon so there's scope for at least 1 F-14 Dave
  20. I think that was only to be expected! Makes you wonder what goes on behind the scenes! Dave
  21. Not much done today but i did manage to get the cockpit tub painted, as per my original plan. And installed: Tub is 100% brush painted with all the details 'picked' out with various cocktail sticks. Also made up the wolfpack pylons and bombracks. One of the brackets on one of the bombracks is broken so i'll have to hide this with a GBU-24 I have read a lot of information about the GBU-24 and the F-14. Having discovered that it was not an overly popular weapon within the F-14 community due to it being 'labour intensive,' the F-14 was cleared to carry two, although, as pointed out by Stanton in a previous post, the norm was to carry one during OEF. I plan to use two as per my initial idea, just to make it look a bit more 'busy'. Here is a picture of the F-14 with GBU-24's, showing that the rear weapon is dropped first: Next up is to attach the front fuselage to the rear and a few other jobs. More to follow. Dave
