  1. Hi Mike. I think that you are right there, I had an idea that the early one's had the yellowish colour. It would make sense if these were later repainted the green, as most pictures of these seem to bear that out. Really appreciate the link, some lovely period photo's there. Thanks, all the best.
  2. Looking for the interior colour of wheel and airbrake bays and doors on early Korean war period Lockheed P/F-80C Shooting Stars. I've found some info on latter service periods and quite a bit on T-33's, but nothing on early F-80's. I'm thinking either just bare metal as the exterior, or some kind of Chromate yellow/green. There are some nice period colour photos to be found (Google/Pinterest) but it is very difficult to make out any colours for these areas as they are always in the shade. Also, I do feel slightly silly asking these questions, as probably it has been asked before. Is there any kind of database/web page that has this kind of information? I can sometimes spend hours searching for this sort of info with no luck at all! Thanks for your interest.
  3. Very nice. Whoever designed that nose radar fit wasn't too concerned with the aethstetics. Function over Form! I have the Heller Bobcat 1/72 Super Puma in the Bristows scheme. Hope it comes out as good as this.

  5. @WARDOG Hi. Thanks for the heads up on this decal sheet. I'm only really interested in the early white over blue/grey Aeronavale scheme. Do you think it would be worth getting a sheet? I can't recall what the Mach2 decals are like. Cheers.

  11. I am still trying to find a decent image of the rotor head that shows roughly how to represent the hydraulic pipe work, which I believe actuates the blade fold. A picture from overhead, or maybe a drawing would be ideal. Also, Fujimi state black for the rotor head colour. Hard to tell from pictures, could be a dark grey? Thirdly, Fujimi state silver for the upper surface of the blades. This seems unlikely for US Navy and Marine Corps aircraft. I'm guessing just black or possibly a dark green? Any help appreciated

  13. So, further to the discussion about the intakes of the D model, here are a couple of pictures comparing the kit parts of the E/F. (I bought a CH-46D kit........) I have decided against trying to scratch build a copy. I have been following a few builds on Britmodeller where the builder has moulded copies of parts from resin. This has intrigued me, so I thought I would give it a go and see if I could copy the D model intakes, and use them for this build. So here what I bought from everyone's favourite internet auction site. There are no instructions, other than what is written on the labels. Hopefully by watching how others have done this, I might be able to pull it off Off to work now, but thanks for looking. Cheers.
  14. Next little job is to try and open out the engine exhausts. I used a little electric drill to grind out the moulded detail. Then used some plastic tube to represent the exhaust pipe. I did consider cutting the whole lot out and replacing it with some brass tube, but the pipes seem to be a very close fit to the engine bay covers, so the kit representation seems quite accurate, it was just the lack of depth that was bothering me.
