  1. Bill, I'd noticed the differance in finishes aswell, but you know if you finished your model in that way someone would make th coment that you hadn't varnished it properly to get it uniform! Do'H! As of yesterday i'm the happy owner of a Hasegawa GR.7, an Aires Cockpit set and the Airwaves unercarraige. Jus need the Afghanistan decals... Cheerio for now! Andy Oh yeah, and a Neomega seat. Forgot about that.. A
  2. Hey guys, thanks for the quick reply's. Those models look superb! I tried those paints on my GR.4 and they looked awful!o However, going on your results i'll give 'em another go. Thanks for the help gents, Andy
  3. Evening gents, sorry if this topic has been mooched before. I'm having a spot of bother deciding which paints to use for my 1/48 GR.7 which i'm going to build as an Op HERRICK jet. (DSG/DCG). I have the Xtracrylix paints but they dont look right to me (despite seeing a model on the net finished using them and looking spot on) out of the bottle they seem a bit dark, in my humble opinion. Do they need scaling down a bit, and if so, what with? I was thinking about maybe Lifecolour but they dont have an equivilant DCG, and neither do Gunze? What do you guys use for your RAF FJ schemes as I have seen a number of GR.4's, GR.7's and Jag's that look spotty dog. Any gen apreciated. TIA Andy Counting down to the release of the MA set.....
  4. Hello Jonathan! Yes, I was on about the current scheme, then re-read the previous post and realised they were one about the MR.1. DoH! I feel a bit o a chimp! Andy
  5. Do I spy engine bearers and a fire wall?
  6. Hello everyone. I just thought i'd share my tuppence worth. Im looking out the window at a Dimsod right now and I think its somewhere between Humbrol 64 and 127. If you did a pre-shade then 127 I think it would look spot on over such a large expanse-especially as stated earlier, flat coats go slightly darker with varnish. Up close the new colour is quite light and its the shadows that seem to add depth- that and the weather (cloud generally) . (God I hope no-one ruins a model because of this 'gen) Best wishes all Andy
  7. I say ol chap, good effort. I know exactly what you mean about building for your own pleasure and not accuracy. I confess to putting 'the other choice' of propeller on a model because I liked the look of it better than the accurate one. Oh well. What were the markings for originally - they don't look out of place. Regards Andy
  8. Paul. Thanks very much for info and the quick reply. I'll pay messers Hannants a visit in a mo. I can hear the wallet screaming for mercy already... Andy.
  9. Hey all. Posted on another Lanc thread, then found this one so I thought i'd put my tuppence worth in here too. I'm getting exited bout this. I go away in september for four months, so i'll order it from Hannants before I go and it will be a nice pressie for when I get back! Does anyone know if you get a late style rear turret in the Hasegawa post war lanc (I think its the Frazer Nash 82?) with twin .50's? I fancy making a VII intrim, with the original FN mid-upper but in the forward position and have no idea if you can get the rear turret. The box art shows it with the original FN.20. Can anybody shed any light? TIA Andy
  10. Hello Everyone! This is my first post on these forums, though i've been looking for a while (passes those very long night-shifts). Thats a lovely Tiffie, tempted to dig mine out! I was just wondering what you used to get the flat finish. I've heard people talk about Kleer and Tamiya Flat base mixed 60:40, but I've had mixed results so steering clear (no pun intended). I'd be interested in oyur or anyone elses thoughts. Thanks in advance! Andy ps: these icons are brilliant!
