  1. That is a bit of disinformation, not sure where you got it. I've spoken to the owner of Merit International. Wasan Plastics is the parent company to several brands including Trumpeter, AA, MiniHobby, Hobby Boss, and others. Merit International has been selling Witty Wings (prebuilt models produced by Wasan Plastics) and wanted to expand into large scale models. Wasan took the Diamond T from Hobby Boss (don't expect to see it released) and several 1:18th, 1:16th, and 1:200th scale kits from Trumpeter. It is strictly a business arrangement and Wasan Plastics doesn't own Merit International. The R & D done by Trumpeter has been used for Hobby Boss releases. This same R & D is now used for Merit Productions. I hope this clears it up a little. Regards,
  2. Sharkmouths? Any images? It seems I must add this to my to do list as well! Regards,
  3. I thought that was because I had shoehorned a Latvian PE set which never mentioned for which kit it was designed! Regards,
  4. I thought I may the only one with one of these unbuilt in their stash! Watching with interest. This is a nice kit. Regards,
  5. The sets from ModelKasten rarely provide spare pins. Also note that they are handed (different on each side). I can only suggest adding them while working within a clear bag so the pins do not get lost. When building these, I use an optivisor (headband magnifier) clone, high quality tweezers (my wife will kill me when she learns I 'liberated' a set of Tweezerman), and dip the pin's tip in Testors ModelMaster liquid glue as it is thicker than Tamiya's (which I normally use). If you truly didn't need working, you could get a set of Dragon's 38 (t) Smart Tracks as sold separately by CyberHobby. These include the tiny casting numbers like the WWII Productions set but aren't articulating. Easy to clean up, use a straightedge to glue lengths, wait an hour and drape around sprocket, idlers, and ress down top run over return roller to get sag. I also believe there is a set from Dragon made of their gluable DS 100 plastic but, to me, they are the same as the ones in the Tamiya kit you are replacing. I hope this helps some. Regards,
  6. Since it doesn't seem to have a top to the wing's center section, it will need to be scratch built then. It does seem to have a second canopy (bottom right of the clear sprue) and an extended exhaust (closer to the camera below the main wheels in the sprue with weapons on the right side). Regards,
  7. I'm interested but I have yet to find out more about this (supposedly) 263rd Squadron aircraft: Regards,
  8. Yes, they are supposed to be there: Both photographs above come from this post on Britmodeller: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234917956-converting-zvezda-148-bf109-f-2-into-a-g-2/?p=1032164 [Edit: I didn't see the post mentioning it was a joke.] Regards,
  9. Would you please post a photo? I haven't reached that stage yet. Regards,
  10. Thank you for this as I have the kit (hey, it has a sharkmouth) to build after the MiG-25. Regards,
  11. It just might! Although I won't be using that ruse for this kit, I will try it and report back. If I don't, check the obituaries. Regards,
  12. If you enjoyed it, and it looks like a Jet Ranger, then you have succeeded! I realized how my AMS has been turning off my son from building models. I put away my model and 'we' built his (a Pegasus Bf-109E-4 from his Godfather). The joy of clipping parts, sanding away nubs, pressing items together after some (non-toxic) liquid cement is applied, letting it dry one hour and playing with it before washing in soap and water to prep for primer (right bfore bed time) was a joy and quick too! Fun and joy, never mind the ill fit, inaccurate shapes, one piece canopy. Fun and joy. How I missed that! If that is what you achieved with your build here, how I envy you! Regards,
  13. My only issue with that is that they may sneak the resin from my cart as I wait! Seriously, thanks for the pointer. If out of stock, I can give them a ring and order. Regards,
  14. As I wrote, I am fluent in Polish so I did not have a problem until registration (waiting for the verification). Using PayPal also allows one to pay them in Polish Zlotys. No notification in my inbox or junk mail folders makes me wonder if someone verifies this manually which means the time is now 20:39 in Poland and the workers may be home. By the way, many office networks do not allow browser installations and the one I am in doesn't even allow translation sites! Regards,
  15. Suggest to them a subject from the Taiwanese inventory and they may consider it! I asked for the U-2. Note that I have dealt with the company with armor subjects and they do respond well to suggestions which are backed up with references. Suggestions without references get binned as they haven't asked for an aircraft wish list yet. Regards,
  16. Mark, the open bay is for their own aftermarket company (Hobby Fan) to release updates. The fact that the kits adapt to other faster moving aftermarket companies is excellent for us since we can have competition which invigorates innovation, accuracy, pricing (and lets us decide on value). Spot on Julien, they are making this for their own profit with subjects tailored to their market. They have released other companies kits with additional parts for their own market (examples at the moment are from their AFV line such as a Hobby Boss landing craft without the interior or Academy's M-60 with parts for the Taiwanese market).
  17. Their site is only in Polish. Luckily, I am fluent but they only have two of those seamless intakes in stock and I just registered. Who knows if I will complete the process before the cart gets emptied or someone else snatches them. Thanks again!
  18. Thati s the approach I learned and works best for me too. Where would I find this piece? Department of Correction is a company? With three Haseagawa kits still in the stash (including another P-40K) I may want some to save time! By the way, PART of Poland has some excellent (if not insane) PE sets for the Hasegawa Hawks which include inserts to tone down the boiler rivets behind the cockpit. As others have stated, sharp photography on a subject I like with many (sharkmouth) schemes I love. Regards,
  19. Lee, When inserting the plastic rods, did you feel the fuselage halves trying to pull apart? Did you consider using the low heat setting on a hair blow dryer to warm up the plastic to accept the shape? This is my plan once I get the wheel wells in. About this issue, I had been toying with the idea of replacing the exhausts with an aftermarket set (pehaps the Eduard exhaust 48-509 set for the Revell kit?) Since the Fru Fru set for the Revell kit seems to fit this kit as well (except the petals seem a bit thick) would these be better? Regards,
  20. And now, our another Cobra box-art. This time no Nam, but Germany based choppers. Unleash your imagination and perhaps you can see a Warsaw Pact Mi-24 Hind being chased by this Sharkmouthed Cobra. Yup, the forest in the backdrop is the Bayerisher Wald / Bohemian Forest on the Czechoslovak borders in the 80s. Okay, with a name like Sharkmouth, you KNOW I am definitely getting these two! Can you display the markings for the other kits? I need to get an idea of the size of the bank loan needed. Regards,
  21. Wow, I had the warps but they were controlled by gluing alternating tabs to the upper and lower fuselage halves. I thought it may only be my kit and I attribute it to the packaging of so much plastic in a small box. With the tabs in place, I was able to tape the fuselage together and the gap would disappear. Thanks for the update Gabor, please be sure to update on the other sites as well. Regards,
  22. See below (quoted from text in original post): I came to know the the standard Academy decals were not reacting to decalsetting so well but thank thankfully the ones in this kit were provided by Cartograf. Each swordfish on the jet consists of 11 pieces which took me 1 and a half day to get them on!! Nerve wrecking stuff I can tell you because the kit does not come with spares.
