  1. Thanks for the reply, had seen those just now on Hannants and it had both a Blenheim and a Mosquito option and was tempted but thanks for the heads up, will now avoid. All the best, Dan.
  2. Hello all, Have a couple of decal-less kits and just wondered if anyone knew if there were any good options out that at reasonable prices for both a 1/72 Blenheim Mk.1 (preferably in RAF colours) and a D.H. Mosquito Mk. XIX (again preferably RAF colours). If so, where abouts did you see them and how much? All the best, Dan.
  3. Yeah it was not without its problems. When I overcame one it often caused another, lack of weight in the nose, the swing wings actually knock the added weight when the slide forward and so cannot be in fully open position and although the majority of the kit was stores options, none of them fit as the plane sits way too low for the ordanance. I thought this was my fault but gear legs cannot be any further down. Oh well, I enjoyed it and the camoflage was very fun to do if time consuming. Thanks for the comments, Dan.
  4. Hi all, Have read that these two would be available from the 2nd quarter of 2011. Now, as far as I can work out that means by the end of June, am I wrong? If this is the case we should be seeing them soon but there does not seem to be much out there about these. Can anyone fill me in on release dates for these two? Thanks, and all the best, Dan.
  5. Thanks Rob, Part of the reason for picking this one off the Begemot sheet was based on the shark mouth on the nose, and the hornet on the tail. It was very different from the norm and a bit eye catching and I liked that. All the best, Dan.
  6. Updated picture now I have fixed the stores underneath, moved them across to the inner wing pylon and left the under belly pylons bare. Cheers, Dan.
  7. That is fantastic, thanks a lot Gerard. Just what I was looking for. All the best, Dan.
  8. Hello, What sort of loadouts would Soviet MiG-27 jets carry? Most pictures I have seen point to centreline and outer wing pylon drop tanks, with rocket pods or freefall iron bombs on the inner wing pylons and self defence R60M air to air missiles on centre line pylons alongside a belly gunpack. Would it be unusual or incorrect to maybe use spare gunpods and mount them on the outer or inner wing pylons, either SPPU-22-01 or UPK-23 cannonpods. Perhaps it may carry Kh-23, 25ML/MP 29L or 58U rockets, maybe even KMGU-2 containers. I have no idea what sort of loadouts would be correct and I have a fair few spares left over from an SU-22 build, just what to add is the question. The kit supplied rocket pods and bombs look bland and the R-60's look like Aim-9's so need replacing. Any ideas appreciated. All the best, Dan.
  9. Some great builds there, superb work. Love the paint scheme on this. All the best, Dan.
  10. Thanks for the comments. The Hornet on the tail was part of the scheme from the Begemot Decal sheet, they had about 60 odd versions and some very very interesting schemes. As for framing the canopy I never really thought about it, from a distance it looks okay but having seen it again in the photos I can see it needs a bit of touching up and perhaps masking it off is a good idea. Thanks, Dan.
  11. Hi all, Built this over Easter but never got around to showing it off. I am very happy with it, my first venture into 1/48 and my first use of Resin (Only a seat though...). Kit was the Ukraine Flight Demo Team kit bought from Modelzone for £7.99 with an Aires seat and Begemot Decals. Excellent they were too. If I remember rightly I also used an Eduard Etch set for the cockpit, one of the zoom sets. First time I tried masking for the camoflage too, cut it with masking tape into swerves and covered it up. Left a few leaks here and there but I am not too worried with that. Took a couple of weeks work to do but I am very happy with the end result. Brush painted with Revell AquaColour Acrylics. Any comments are more than welcome, good and bad. Accuracy not too important for me as long as it looks good. All the best, Dan.
  12. Hi all, Been in a bit of a swing of things recently and been quite pleased with how this turned out. Its a Soviet SU-17 UM-3K, brush painted using Revell AquaColour Acrylics. The four tone camoflage was not how it was supposed to be painted but I thought it looked quite neat, so I stuck with it. I am not too worried about accuracy as long as it looks good on the shelf. Loadout is also fictional, no idea what it may have carried. Had a problem with forgetting the nose weight, had to drill a hole and fill with PVA and small fishing shot weights to keep her on the deck. Instructions were not very good either, getting the undercarriage doors cut up into lots of pieces only to reconstruct them in a jigsaw manner, and then it saying to attach the stores only for the stores (bombs on the centre TER racks) to clear the wheels by a few mm. This caused the plane to sit on the bombs... I did check and check again, I moved and shifted them but the only way it fitted was to just remove them. Anyway, not as good as some of the models on here but the best I can come up with. Any comments more than welcome. All the best, Dan.
  13. Thanks for the replies everyone. I finished her today and will post pictures in the Ready for Inspection soon. I took the advice and drilled out a small hole just in front of the cockpit but behind where the piece for the radome sat, filled it with white PVA and then dropped in small fishing shot weights one by one until it levell out (I attached the wheels first then balanced it so I did it enough). Glue dried reasonably quick, and then filled and filed down the hole I drilled out, touched up paint. If I am honest it was very very easy as mentioned despite sounding a bit more difficult, but best of you would never have been able to point where I drilled! smartly hidden by the canopy edge. All the best, Dan.
  14. Thanks a lot for the advice. Both sound very tempting. I will see what I can get my hands on and try and be a bit inventive with it. I thought it was all going too good to be true. Did not encounter a problem with the build until now. Thanks again, Dan.
  15. Hi all, Made a huge mistake. Been so carried away working on my 1/72 Italeri SU-17 that I got to attaching the undercarriage (having done almost everything else, just stores, canopy and pitots) and uh oh... In the swing of things I got so carried away I forgot to add any nose weight! I have added weight into the noses of the stores (droptanks and missiles) in the hope that it sits forward of the balance point, but I have a feeling this is not going to work. What can I do, any ideas? Does anyone know of any tips for when these things happen? I guess some people would just model it wheels up but I am a wheels down modeller and the cockpit has been made to be canopy open. Any advice is greatly appreciated. All the best, Dan.
  16. And this one is going for the same £24.99 and a fiver postage. All the best, Dan.
  17. Hello all, I have never built a civil airliner before. I am a 1/72 modern jet sort of guy but the only kit my girlfriend ever says I should get is the Revell 1/144 737-800, with the Haribo Air on the side. Specifically the blue one. As you can tell I know little to nothing about airliners, but I want to build this for her as she asked me to build her something she would like and it is all I can think of. Anyway, anyone built the kit and if so how does it build? Any advice for a first time Airline builder? I am not too worried if the kit is not accurate etc and I am sure she wont be either, just how it builds, tips and tricks for building them etc. All the best, Dan.
  18. Hi all, Just ordered a 1/72 Revell Tornado ECR ''TigerMeet'' and a 1/72 Airfix Mirage F.1 both off of the Modelcatalogue site in their sale/closing down. It is a shame but I did get a bargain I feel, both kits delivered for under £13. But, I do not know anything about the kits. I wanted a Mirage F.1 so it was logical for me to get one and I have heard good things about Revell's Tornado kits especially the GR1. Does anyone know any information on these, what they are like how they build etc? Any help appreciated. All the best, Dan.
  19. Does anyone know when this is released? Looks good, I am guessing a re-release of an old mould but I still look forward to it. All the best, Dan.
  20. Fell for that trap a few years ago. Saw it in Modelzone, saw the invasion stripes and was quite taken by the boxart, a kit I had not built before and something I thought - as with some Revell kits - would be good. D'oh! Shame, if the effort into the Revell Focke Wulf 190 or the new P-47D had gone into that it could of been rather good. Just like to know what I am getting myself into, I would rather spend the right amount or haggle for a kit that I will enjoy building and be proud of on my shelf than spend over the top on a kit that is bettered in every way by a cheaper one. Revell or Italeri's Heinkel HE-111 over Airfix's comes to mind... All the best, Dan.
  21. Thanks for the information guys. I need to get myself a bit more clued up on the kits out there, I am too reliant on advice from here as to whether kits are good enough to hit the wishlist or should be avoided. Think I will add this one to the wishlist, not got myself an A-4 yet and probably should have. All the best, Dan.
  22. Hello, Just wondered if anyone knew what the Fujimi 1/72 OA-4M ''Outlaws'' kit was like, how much you would expect to pay and the quality? Thanks in advance, Dan.
  23. Thanks a lot for that Julien. I think while Hasegawa have argueably made some kits we question the price of, this is one I am happy to buy. I saw a T-2 on Kingkit for £5.99 but did not get it as you have no idea what boxing etc, but I was close. They sound like decent kits of subjects not often seen. Would be an interesting addition to a shelf/cabinet I am sure. All the best, Dan.
  24. Looks stunning, a great finish to a great aircraft. The camoflage is really something, I could never get squiggles on without it looking ridiculous or making them too big, great effort. All the best, Dan.
