  1. Surely that's a photoshoot of the 1/1 real thing?! Epic work.
  2. Oh Canada! So I'm in with this one, to be built OOB with decals from the spares box. Academy F-18A Hornet_box by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr With a Sword and two Frog kits currently on the bench, I cannot wait to start something with decent fit and details! Academy F-18A Hornet_contents by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Decals will be for the 2007 Demo scheme which celebrated 25 years of Hornet service with Canada and are from this kit Thanks for looking, good luck with your builds! Cheers, Dermot
  3. Thanks Rory and appreciate the request. The club is currently in the process of developing an all new website and are also on X (formerly Twitter) @ipmsireland and Instagram "ipms_ireland" if you use either of those channels. Here's hoping for the new kits!
  4. This might help - photo by me during 2013 base visit. IMG_1443_zpsfec05f83 by IPMS Irl Photo, on Flickr You could also post your question over on the IPMS Ireland FB page - some current & ex Air Corps team hang out there Cheers, Der
  5. So time to get this one moving as well. Needed some putty for those wing joints. Frog_He_219_Uhu_Wip_9 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Then went with a coat of Flat Black underneath, mostly to hide the awful fit! Masked up to spray the top colour of RLM 76 - this was a home mix of: XF-2 Flat White – 7 parts XF-23 Light Blue – 1 part XF-66 Light Grey – 2 parts Frog_He_219_Uhu_Wip_10 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr The port engine still had a nasty seam so that's been rubbed back and was repainted. Once that was done, a coat of RLM 75 which was made up of 5 parts XF-24 Dark Grey and 1 part XF-50 Field Blue. I used a mottle mask for the first time and definitely need some practice. I'll probably go back in with the RLM 75 to give it some sharper definition as it's a bit messy in places. Frog_He_219_Uhu_Wip_11 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr And then with the lower masking removed. Some touch-ups needed here and there but mostly happy how it's looking so far. Frog_He_219_Uhu_Wip_12 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Thanks for looking! Cheers, Dermot
  6. So into the home stretch with the Baby Clipper. Sword_Sikorsky_S-43_JRS1_wip_23 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Attempted to do the rigging on the inside of the engines/hull with 020 wire - definitely not my finest hour and confirms why I never attempt biplanes. Still have to rig the wing floats (just the four wires each). Sword_Sikorsky_S-43_JRS1_wip_24 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Thanks for looking. Cheers, Dermot
  7. This is great Col and love the story behind it.
  8. Fabulous work, love it Pete. Cheers, Dermot
  9. Spotted this earlier on an online forum. NOW AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER – PUBLICATION DATE 20 MARCH The Consolidated Liberator evolved quite a bit during its RAF Coastal Command service and, like all large aircraft, saw a wide variety of modifications and equipment upgrades. This book guides you through the considerable differences that appeared between the MkI and the MkVIII. To guide you through these changes, we welcome a new author to the fold. Pavel Türk is a Czech historian who has a deep and extensive knowledge of the mighty B-24 Liberator. Following our aims of having the best authors for each individual aircraft type, Pavel was the obvious choice to cover RAF Coastal Command Liberators. As with all the books in this series, we’ve enhanced the photos to pull out the shadow detail and have added arrows and letters to identify points of interest. ‍This book contains approx 120 original wartime/post-war photos and 6 in-depth colour profiles. Link to publisher. Cheers, Dermot
  10. Thanks and from what I've found here and here, she was restored and is the only current airworthy B-model in the US. The restoration gave her a Malcolm Hood and all-round D-day stripes. Still looking her best! 🥰
  11. I'll jump in with this one if that's ok? Build will be OOB with aftermarket decals for "Impatient Virgin flown by Capt. Victor E. Bocquin, 376th Fighter Squadron, 361st Fighter Group, Academy_P51_C_Box by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Academy_P51_C_contents_1 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Detail looks nice. Academy_P51_C_contents_2 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Academy_P51_C_contents_3 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Thanks for looking and good luck with your builds! Cheers, Dermot
  12. My previous Mustangs, both by Airfix and in 1/72. Old issue kit from the Duxford Multi-kit Collection Airfix172MustangBBD005 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr New tool kit, Top Gun Maverick box Airfix_A00505_Mavericks_P51D_Mustang(1) by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Cheers, Dermot
  13. Thanks all and a little bit more done on this one. Instrument panel painted up. Frog_TA 152H_2_wip_11 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Fuselage and cockpit joined.. Frog_TA 152H_2_wip_12 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr And under all that tape and clamps is a plane! The dihedral was way off so hoping this does the trick. Frog_TA 152H_2_wip_13 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Thanks for looking and happy modelling. Cheers, Dermot
  14. Some fantastic modelling/scratchbuilding on show here.
  15. Looks great, well done. Always nice to see an Irish build round these parts. 👍 Regards, Dermot
  16. And on to decals which were very kindly sent to me by @Planebuilder62 - thanks again. There's something about that high vis US Navy scheme! Sword_Sikorsky_S-43_JRS1_wip_21 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Not too many and they worked a treat. Sword_Sikorsky_S-43_JRS1_wip_22 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr In the home straight now! Thanks for looking and happy modelling. Cheers, Dermot
  17. So a little more done on this one. I owe a lot to previous builds by @AdrianMF and @JOCKNEY who gave me inspiration on some modifications to make. - thank you gents. I added a couple of bulkheads to help with reducing the see-through. Frog_TA 152H_2_wip_8 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr And bodged up an instrument panel and extended the cockpit floor. Frog_TA 152H_2_wip_10 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Test fit of the wings isn't too bad but will need clamping to get a better profile. Frog_TA 152H_2_wip_9 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Thanks for looking, take care and happy modelling. Cheers, Dermot
  18. Thank you Chuck! 👍 Will PM you some notes about the kit - it's a tricky one to say the least! Cheers, Dermot
  19. Great stuff, that paint job is terrific. Love the line-up with the others too. Cheers Dermot
  20. So more paint on the Baby Clipper. Some touch ups needed but mostly happy. Sword_Sikorsky_S-43_JRS1_wip_18 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Then masking the tail and wings for their respective colours. I tried Humbrol next Gen acrylic Bright Green on the tail and hated it - very prone to tip drying and poor coverage really. The colour is too light anyway so will spray over it. Sword_Sikorsky_S-43_JRS1_wip_19 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr And now with the upper wing done in Tamiya XF-3 flat yellow and the tail in Tamiya X-28 Park Green - much happier with that. Again, some mistakes to fix on the top wing but getting there. Sword_Sikorsky_S-43_JRS1_wip_20 by Dermot Moriarty, on Flickr Cheers, Dermot
  21. Nice progress and I started this one in January myself! But only as far as adding the inserts to the saucer sections. Pulling up a seat Any build thread I've read says the nacelle pylons need to be reinforced with metal rod as the main hull won't hold the pylons & engines. Look forward to following! Cheers, Dermot
