Hell of a jump to be sure. I only paid £25.99 for mine Allan
-
The Revell (AEW 2) kit also has the two advantages of being substantially cheaper and, a substantially easier build. The Airfix MR2 was a complete pig of a kit which I had to be beat into submission Allan
-
That's a bummer. I might have bought it if it was the Academy tool. I will check up on the F-14 because, I suspect that might be the ancient 1972 kit! Allan
-
You are correct. They produced an early fabric winged Mk I which included a two blade prop and, Belgian markings Allan
-
They probably would. I suspect (but hope I am wrong) that Jester's A-4 might be the same ancient A-4 that appeared in this guise before. The Top Gun F-14 is presumably the original 1972 kit too? Why release them (and the "MiG-28") when there are far superior kits available. I noticed the F-16 too. Surely that cannot be the rather crude 80s kit? Allan

Nothing showing up. Think the website has crashed. Again! Allan

Revell releases for 2020 (after 1st quarter)

The RAF GR4 is currently hard to find , at least at a sensible price. A welcome reissue! Allan -
Revell releases for 2020 (after 1st quarter)
Albeback52 replied to Colin @ Freightdog Models's topic in The Rumourmonger
Thanks for the info Michael. I have several of Modelcollect's "paper panzers" (if I may call them that!). Specifically, the E-50/75/100 gun tanks and other variants thereof. They are really excellent kits if, a little expensive in the UK. If the Toxso kits are of equivalent quality, I will be well pleased! . Definitely up for the SCUD missile kit Allan -
Revell releases for 2020 (after 1st quarter)
Albeback52 replied to Colin @ Freightdog Models's topic in The Rumourmonger
Actually, I think it's a great line up. Both Tornado kits, NF Beaufighter, the B-29( presumably ex Monogram), CH-53G AND a Ju-188 in 1/48 scale together with a 1/32 Tempest. What's not to like.! I really don't care if they are reissues or, other manufacturers kits repackaged. Only down side to the B-29 is the "Platinum Edition" repackaging which will doubtless be very expensive and include p /e parts which I hate and, normally throw straight in the bin where they are included in kits. Hopefully,Revell might also issue it minus the expensive frippery! Disappointed in the lack of 1/72 aircraft to be sure but, some nice armour subjects in 1/72. Never heard of Toxso as a manufacturer. They any good? Other than my reservation over the B-29, I'm very pleased overall. Revell getting lots of my money in 2020! Allan -
I tried that. Same result. Then I tried entering Concorde / Concorde Vintage Classics in search. No results. It's gone! Of course, with the imminent publication of the 2020 programme, I would expect some sort of announcement then Allan

I know you didn't. And. I never accused you of saying it. I was simply making my own observation. Allan

I don't think there is anything sinister about it. With Airfix promising a " wealth of new tools" for 2020 ,I suspect that they will be concentrating their resources on these items rather than the Vintage Classic range. We will find out soon enough because I expect Airfix will include an announcement about the Vintage Classics when the full 2020 range is announced Allan

1/144 - Kawasaki C-2 by Aoshima - released - new boxing

That four tone camouflage scheme is most attractive. Would look good on a C-17 or, A-400! Allan -
1/48: A new F-35A approaching at Revell ?
Albeback52 replied to SharkOwl's topic in The Rumourmonger
Know what you mean! The prospect of yet another F-35 serves only to stir up apathy in me! (Yawns!) Allan -
. Lots of potential! Particularly the old RAF sand/stone /black finish. I have another idea for a J in a 4 tone green /green/tan/black splinter camouflage finish. However, price will be the determining factor. I don't think the DWP regard inability to afford models as necessarily a priority! Allan

BBC Filming War Of The Worlds in UK
Albeback52 replied to Noel Smith's topic in Science Fiction Discussion
I have to agree with that. After all the hype and fuss, it all turned out to be a bit MEH!! No,not impressed at all. First episode was promising but, the second was tedious and the third was so umbelievably dull I struggled to watch it the whole way through. I'm not going to bother going into all the little plot lines but, suffice to say, I think this was an opportunity wasted. Dull, plodding and uninspiring is basically how I would sum it up Allan -
Fair enough. I guess we will have to agree to differ. The manufacturer will not have chosen this version without good reason so, I guess time will tell who was right. C-130 fans now have a long overdue, brand new kit to look forward to. If they choose not to buy because of the choice of version, that's their prerogative and I will not presume to debate otherwise I would suggest a lot of modellers won't be that bothered and will buy it anyway simply because its a new Herc Allan
-
I have a whole air force to do!. I have another C-27 kit which will be in coast guard colours. I have decided to add the C-130J and, Merlin helicopter to the line up.. F/A -18E/F as the main combat type. Allan
-
I don't personally think the choice of version will make much difference. Herc fans will surely buy it anyway? With so many variants to choose from, I would not be surprised if this was the merely the first in a range of C-130 kits. Patience my friend! I would actually like the original A version with the "roman" nose or, one of the stretched variants! Too many times to mention however, may I respectfully suggest that one substitutes "latest" or "current" for "lesser"? I know it's arguing over semantics but, I think that versions like the MC-130 Combat Talon and, RC-130 might be more appropriately be deemed "lesser"?( no less important though but, maybe Just not so well known?) Just me of course but, I think it only natural that the current production version be chosen for the first kit! Allan
-
Hi Trevor. The kit was originally released by ICM. It has also been reboxed by Revell Allan

I pre ordered 6 of them. Going to be seriously miffed if this does not appear. If indeed the reason for the disappearing from the website is lack of pre orders then Airfix should at least have the common decency and courtesy to advise its customers who DID order the kits. I have yet to recieve a response to the enquiries I sent to Airfix direct and, posted on their Facebook page Allan

Agreed! I actually found it a struggle to sit through the whole film. That, and the much overhyped "Dunkirk" were two of the years most disappointing films. I shudder to think of what any hypothetical reboot of something like the Battle of Britain would be like. Probably be something like the truly execrable "Red Tails and, be full of politically correct afro Caribbean /Hispanics flying P-51s bedecked in RAF markings while fighting off FW-190s flown by stereotypical, evil scar faced Germans called "Pretty Boy"? (or some such) Allan Ps - cynical mode OFF PPS. And before anybody jumps on me, I mean absolutely no disrespect to the members of the afore mentioned ethnic groups (and others) who fought courageously and honourably for so little reward or recognition

No, definitely not possible. It would an achievement of galactic proportions to make any film as bad as Pearl Harbour. Titanic came close though as did the shocking 2011 remake of Conan the Barbarian! You know, I still think that Tora! Tora! Tora! is immeasurably superior to the abomination that was Pearl Harbour!
