. The Matchbox kit, crude and basic though it may be is certainly every inch a Victor when complete. I think a lot of rubbish is spouted about the kit. Yes, it isn't an easy build but, in my experience, it is no more difficult than a lot of short run kits. I do have an Airfix Victor B2 but, only because I got it as a gift. Otherwise, it is unaffordable. Until my situation improves, I will make do with the Revell /Matchbox kits I also have. Certainly, I agree a new Vulcan would be nice but, again, at a likely price of£60 +, I will have to pass on it for now. On the other hand, if it means prices of the old kit drop, I will grab a few! . Of course, this is all pure speculation at the moment Allan.

Well, I agree with you on the price. This kit will have handsomely repaid it's investment many times over. Of course, if it still selling well, Airfix can charge what they like because they know people will buy it. I have not bought one four years because I won't pay a contemporary price for a 36 year old kit. I have three already but, if Airfix does produce a new kit it will probably be unaffordable ( at least in my present circumstances) but, at least it might mean the old kits will be available cheaper. Funny how you can pick up an equally old 1/72 Victor kit for well under £20 ,Allan

I would certainly prefer 1/72!. I would actually prefer a Vulcan B1A/B1 to a B2. Come to that, I'd prefer a Victor B1/ K1 as well! . I just feel 1/144 is too small. I don't actually like photo etched parts so, even if these were included in a hypothetical 1/72 kit, I'd bin them! Three Valiant kits to £120 is pretty canned good. I am jealous! I am hoping the Lancaster Mk II does get a reissue.Given the choice between that and a Manchester ( as you say, very handsome aeroplane), I would go for the Lancaster. However, if BOTH were available.......! Allan

No, I wouldn't be so sure. It probably really is currently out of stock in its present form and, the " pre order" simply relates to a reboxing of the old tool with new decals.? I think we are actually looking at a red herring! Airfix is not going to announce a "pre order" for a new kit before it is even announced surely?. We will find out soon enough! Allan

I'd be inclined to agree with you on the York, despite what enthusiasts might think to the contrary. I'd rather see a Manchester though! As I have been unable to locate a Mk II Lancaster at anything remotely resembling a sensible price, this is one I'd love to see reissued - along with the Valiant! I will not personally be buying the Mikromir Vulcan B1. Not in 1/144 anyway. Allan

Airfix Heinkel He111 H-6 Motörhead “Bomber” Special

Perhaps not so much gross under production as gross underestimation of likely demand ( which probably amounts to the same!) To the extent that Airfix recently announced a further run of the kit ( with only the Motorhead decals) in January 2020. Maybe someone at their marketing department needs a serious talking to? Anybody seen the prices for this kit on ebay? £59.95 to £99.95! Allan -
I think your spell checker must be wrong John. You surely meant to type "both in 1/72" ? Allan ps. On a more serious note, I am sure Airfix announced some time ago that they would neither be retooling their old airliners or, be issuing any new kits in 1/144.

Isn't Mikro Mir supposed to be doing a 1/72 Avro York?
-
Hmmm! Well, The York was first announced about 3 years ago. Haven' t heard any more about it since then. I believe some pictures of early test shots for the K-7 appeared on BM some months back but again, I don't know how this is progressing. However, if all three appear in 2020, I won't complain! Not just Luftwaffe 46!. I reckon this could be used in just about any Sci Fi scenario you like! Allan

The "real" subject was 28m long with a 15m wingspan. That would give a length / wingspan if approx 38cm/21cm. A decent sized model - about the same length as TSR 2 Allan

Wow! I have got to get me some of these!! Allan

No offence mate but,I think that really is clutching at straws!Still, all good fun ! Later, I will be consulting with Mystic Mog, my clairvoyant for her views. Last year she predicted something very fast that went meeeeeeowwwwwww.......! Allan

Ermm! Didn't they already produce one? Allan

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you. If they only provide an option to display the antenna then the option of the removeable nose as shown is logical if possibly incorrect. I would not personally see it as a major issue because I would be fixing the nose in place anyway but, I accept the kit feature might annoy others Allan

Is it possible they only intended the antenna to be visible? Then it would make sense to design the kit like that albeit not quite right? Not having seen the kit ,I don't know if the whole radar assembly is included. Allan

1/72 - Boeing 307 Stratoliner by Bat Project - released
Albeback52 replied to Homebee's topic in The Rumourmonger
Pretty good guess. Airfix DC-10 released 1980.Prior to that there were four kits released in the 70s Lockheed TriStar (1972), DC-9 (1973), Airbus A300 (1974), Concorde (1976). Allan- 76 replies

For all the talk of the "error" with the wing, who is actually going to bother? A handful of purists in internet sites like this or, the no doubt thousands of others who will simply snap it up regardless because they're getting an otherwise nice and reasonably priced replica. How many people, upon seeing what is actually a very small model are even going to know one way or the other? Personally, I don't see what all the fuss is about. It's unmistakably a MiG -17, warts and all. Now, if some believe the kit is fatally flawed, unbuildable and, unbuyable then, that is their prerogative and I won't presume to debate their wisdom. I'm not going to get bogged down in a debate about the why's and wherefores of how it happened. Airfix has doubtless made a commercial decision to get the kit out there and, if it sells well then, the decision is justified. I'm not going to condone or condemn Airfix. I'm just happy to ( or will be) to get my grubby mitts on this kit in quite large numbers! . Others will disagree. I respect that. Let's just enjoy the kit. We're all modellers after all and, we don't all take the same approach to the hobby. I am by the way, genuinely sorry if the model disappoints some of you Allan Ps, I am a fully paid up member of the T L A R (That Looks About Right) school of thought! ( Cue cries of "send him to Specsavers!" )

I'm sure I was confronted by the Airfix Schnellboot, Bae Hawk and, Panavia (as it then was) M R C A kits all in one week in my local Woolies!. Allan
