Depends on one's definition of "too big"! For some, even a WWII heavy may be "too big"! One could probably fit two Buccaneers in the space needed for one Vulcan! I have difficulty finding space for a Shackleton!! My Revell and Airfix kits are completed but, still languish in a cupboard! Allan
-
Or, criminally inaccurate, fatally flawed and, the perennial favourite, the usually undefined and possibly indefinable : " I don't know but, something just does not look right!" Wait until it gets completely rubbished on ARC forum. Then we'll know for sure Airfix has a winner Allan

Was not, strictly speaking comparing the kits on the basis of the year of release. If I was, I might have mentioned that the 1973 B-26 Marauder and, 1981 Lancaster were both detailed to a higher standard than the Vulcan. Airfix was capable, even in 1984 of much better than they gave us.However, it scarcely matters now. I think the aforementioned Nimrod was the product of a different design team altogether? Nonetheless, it got generally good reviews as I recall. I was not over impressed with the Vulcan but, at least it was a decent, basic canvas on which to work. It was after all, a Vulcan, warts and all.! Notwithstanding it's flaws, I have built 5 over the years! I will probably pass on this new one for reasons of cost if, for no other. It's going to be one of those kits I only get for birthdays etc! Allan

The basic kit was actually Ok and, it went together very well but, in my own personal view, it was over priced and seriously under detailed. So, I would agree up to a point. The decals were truly awful though! I actually think the original Airfix Vulcan was a bit half hearted too. Very basic and lacking in fine detail. The parts fit even when new was not good. I got the distinct impression it was a bit of a rush job.. Could have been a lot better with a bit more effort Allan

Well Graham, they still have plenty of time to announce a new Halifax . Allan

I don't doubt it will. My personal preference would have been for the earlier B1/B1A though. I have " fond" memories of spending many happy hours producing a B1A from the ancient Lindberg kit!! Allan

Respectfully disagree. It may be a minority on a single discussion on this site but, I suspect the reality may be somewhat different. For every person pleased with the prospect, I would not be surprised if there were several who might think it a wasted opportunity. Allan ( who'd rather have a Manchester or Lincoln!)

It's old stock surel. £39? No way that's a brand new Vulcan. Allan
-
That's a nice picture of the original kit is it not?
-
If it is and, assuming this is not a hoax, then I will pass on it. A price of £60/£60+ is completely unaffordable. I won't be getting rid of the kits I already have any time soon Allan
-
I remain sceptical. There's a lot of fake news about. And, especially because the original kit is available again to pre order. I don't believe Airfix would keep pushing the original kit if there was a new one waiting in the wings. More likely they would withdraw it. Sorry but, I think it's a hoax. I will believe it when I see the pictures of the brand new kit in front of me Allan

From memory, the FROG range had a Ju-88,Bf-110, He-219,He-111, Me-262 and Me-410. I certainly recall the Ta-152. I don't know how many, if any finished up in the NOVO guise. FROG also had in 1/32, Fw-190, Me-262 and, Bf-109E but, these were Hasegawa kits repackaged. I was recently able to obtain the FROG Martin Maryland and. Martin Baltimore at pretty decent prices Allan

1/72 - Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II by Italeri - released
Albeback52 replied to Homebee's topic in The Rumourmonger
That comment was, at best, arrogant presumption on your part. It was also totally unnecessary. What you really mean is that YOU do not care about ready made ones. Fine, that's your choice. Do not however presume to talk for others. Ready made and painted models are still models and, are just as worthy of inclusion here as any other. Allan- 45 replies

Would it not just be soooo ironic if the "big " announcement from Airfix due next weekend was a 1/72 VC-10.............! Allan
-
Well, it look like the VC-10 is out of the equation but, If there was any chance of the V Bomber, D H Herald and Comet kits appearing again that might be nice Did they not also do a 707? Allan
-
I realise that. I have a couple myself. However, I omitted to mention that these more recent items were not of the 86D/86E issued by Italeri. My bad Thanks for reminding me. Allan

Well, with all due respect, Atlantis Models don't seem to have any issues with reissuing ancient model kits, a lot of which seem to have been generally welcomed! Pk, maybe it is nostalgia but, there is nowt wrong with that. There is clearly a market for these kits and, ultimately, nobody is forced to buy them Allan (eagerly awaiting the reissued Cheyenne helicopter)
-
I was delighted to see it reissued recently and, in some very attractive colour options. I know it's old but it's still a very nice model. Allan
-
There are more recent toolings of the Ju 86 from RS and, Kora Models. However, despite their age which, I think is immaterial, the Italeri Ju-86 D And E kits are both very good models. The RS and Kora Models are not however the D and E variants Allan

Italeri 2019 catalog - "new" (reissue, repop, rebox etc.) in 2019
Albeback52 replied to Homebee's topic in The Rumourmonger
Unlikely. The Kinetic kit gives you the option to fold the wings and display with everything hanging. it also has a more comprehensive range or Ordnance. This looks very much like the original Italeri kit. Wont be bothering with the Phantom kit. The Airfix kit may be a bit over engineered but, for my money it's superior in just about every respect to the somewhat geriatric (admittedly decent) Fujimi moulding. I expect rivet counters won't agree. Allan -
I think that is an excellent point. 1/96 is a good "in between" scale as would be 1/100. Heller also (and uniquely I think) had a brief flirtation with 1/125 which would certainly have been better than 1/144 Allan
-
Might not be when you add postage though? Several on ebay right now. Postage is a hefty £19 - £21 from the Russian Federation. Kit itself not much cheaper than UK retail price for the Revell issue Allan
-
I think you might actually have nailed it there Giorgio. Allan
-
It's only a guesstimate mind! . Hopefully, won't be too wide of the mark. We will find out for sure next week! Allan
-
I don't normally do 1/144 but, sometimes one has to be practical! . My partner bought me one for my birthday Beautiful model. I'm hoping she will get me another for Crimbo! I don't like the scheme in the Revell kit so, it'll have to be a "what if" military version. I like the scheme offerred by Zvezda! Allan
