  1. Still here but the time needed to do a good job on them is only coming about in small dribs and drabs, I want to finish them to a high standard for a display to go with the bits I got when the Jags dissbanded as a fitting memory I'll still post updates when they come but as an interim update the main legs are almost there and they look mighty fine if i say so myself lol Wardy
  2. Hi all Sorry for no updates, some sad news due to RAF work I am pulling out of the group build the cat / cats I intended to build are at a stage which will easily allow me to complete them in the next year I hope but they will get completed they hold so much fond memories for me to have worked on and flew in one. Thanks all for the hints and tips Mike for the intakes which will allow the the other 2 birds to be finally sprayed at some point, thanks mate. Signing out THE ROAR OF THE ADOUR Andy Ward
  3. Welcome to the build ebays great if you find what your looking for.
  4. Yeah went out on the K then came back saturday/sunday on a Tristar into Brize
  5. Yeah its great stuff thanks for the comments. Just got back after going to China Lake with my new post with the Hercules C130k doing some RWR stuff not as good as the Jag dets but hey can't have it all, so not much progress at all sorry to say, I'm waning a little it's seems as if I've caught the build blues again maybe after xmas I'll perk up. Just out of interest is there a model of the C130K with all the LIRCM / DIRCM kit? Until my next update Happy Christmas Wardy
  6. The doors are left open, the jet has its doors open on the ground in RAF service the doors are closed on the ground for display reasons in normal opperational duties they are open, they are closed on the see off of the jet the liney does his walk about the jet once started then removes the power lead from the jet and the main undercarrage switch is pressed this closes the doors prior to taxi, in a nut shell, on return of the jet the doors should be closed (incase of an u/c failure and the jockey has blown down the u/c they remain open) the liney marshals the jet in stops the jet does a tire inspection and brake inspection then opens the pannel on the port side containing the main u/c switch presses the switch places a ground safety pin in the doors open, he then marshals the jet forward anothe foot or so stops the jet then shutdown, thats the normal procedure day in day out. If the doors are to be closed for dispaly a/c was etc the manual way to open or close them is to turn the battery on flick the main u/c switch to open or closed then get the Hydraulic pump handle and pump the number 1 hyd system this is done under the number 1 engine port side just behind the air intake scoop there is a slot and inside that is the male end for the fitting of the hyd pump handle, pump until open/closed. So in normal opperation they are allways open. Look at my banner if you look down the side of the jets the doors are open.
  7. Deffo I'll grab a set maybe 2 if possible?? They look 100x better than the kit jobs. Wardy
  8. Cheers I'll be cutting it so far with the razor saw then finish off with sanding paper, that easy huh thought as much worth asking though Thanks Wardy
  9. I'm now going through the process of tidying up the seats how do you remove the plug at the bottom of them safely?? Maybe a bread and butter thing to know how to do, but its the first time I've worked with a resin seat. Many thanks Wardy
  10. Thanks mate the internals of the intakes do blend out to the square section after the intake box, as its so small you can't see it but the internals are for cosmetic reasons just to give the finished model (eventually) some depth and not make it look hollow I was tempted by placing at the back of them a mock up of the first stage compressor blades but you can't see them clear enough so I've binned that idea. The Legs are comming on nicely only thing is I'm goinig blind and mad doing them so small items being fitted one knock before the glue sets it moves or falls off Arghhhhh Wardy
  11. All the last service jags from 6 Sqn were flown into Cosford along with spares to become ground trainers for new techies also parts were stripped by me and a few others at cosford to be fitted onto other airframes in the Airforce, the Gr3a is a totally different beast to the 1's its Avionics suite is by no means least an impressive bit of kit, I've worked on for 5 years and for its age the Avionics is damn good and at least got a +90% serviceability rate, and as its the most modern bit of demobed kit it makes perfect sense to train new techies on them. I'll get my then LoL
  12. Well done mate looks as good as the real thing.
  13. They sit backwards when full of fuel usually when they are empty they sit level almost but as I remember when the jet came back after a sortie I couldn't reach the brake chute safety pin to put it in but when it was full with fuel I could.
  14. If anyone is interested they can cast my undercarriage legs when I've finished them the nose leg on my post is done all I've got to do on the main legs is the pipework, just a thought. Wardy
  15. Looking good mate  :thumbsup2:
  16. I've been doing some more work on the T-bird I've left the legs for the moment and concentrated on the intake boxes and centerline pylon plus I've started work on the external fuel tanks. Also following a few hints and tips from other treads cheers ALL I've bolstered the joint for the wing fixing at the front with 2 pieces of plasticard. Any constructive comments would be great. Cheers Wardy
  17. Nice work mate looks good.
  18. Great work there doc looks awesome looks just like i remember it, here's some pics to help you with those peel backs watching this with great interest as I'm building this beast when i've done the T-Bird the masking is a great idea.
  19. the intakes look good I think i'll use your method for the next set on the then next jag I've got the pair I've just done I've filled and sanded to profile what a hassle sent me insane trying to match them but done it know but the method of an angle insert sounds like a genious idea :worthy:
  20. Gary don't change the pit mate thats awesome I'm 80% certain that the omani jag cockpits were grey as you've got the neomega Gr1 pit it would match it perfectly don't change it, its spot on mate and if you want some omani jag pics with the raf ones side by side just pm me not gonna release them as there is some stuff on the pics i'm sure aren't publishable. ;) Wardy
  21. if u want a couple of close up piccies of an anti col i got given one as a leaving pressie off of the leckies on 54 (f) Sqn its sat on my dek as i type lol
  22. Sorry my mistake I stand corrected I knew it was a gulf jet though lol sorry about the crap info.
  23. There was hope that this one and the Pink one were gonna go into the cosford museum, but as stated its official line was "its going to become a ground trainer". For info if you didn't know the Pink Jag was the only Gulf War Jag in service at the end I think if I remember it was Busta Gonad
  24. Thanks for the recognition mate its looking good, maybe just maybe our jaguars could meet up after the build for some piccies as Ive got some quality photos of Omani and RAF jags Taxing together when I went out there with 54 (f) Sqn. Andy Ward
  25. If you cast them can I be cheeky and ask if I could request a set Money paid obviously. Cheers Wardy
