One aspect of modelling that I am utterly hopeless at is figure painting, I just don't have the eye sight or a steady enough hand which is why, till now, all of my aircraft have been modelled on the ground but I've decided I want Airwolf in the air so I've painted the two figures as best I can. As expected, you're not going to be able to see Dom other than a small glimpse of his left hand if the light is right and String will look acceptable enough behind the canopy glass. Dom at his station prior to getting sealed in forever, I didn't clean any of the seams as it seemed a bit pointless although that could be said about all the detail in the rear!! and String in his seat: John

Review Build RS Models Messerschmitt P.1101 Jet Fighter 1:48

Nice work, got to love an early Luftwaffe jet... -
Rotor blades are complete and Stringfellow is trying out his seat for size...

Never built a helicopter before but Airwolf is my favourite of all such things so here is my build of the Aoshima 1/48 kit I picked up at Telford last year. I'm pretty much an OOB builder when it comes to aircraft (nor do I get too hung up on getting colours 100% accurate) so I'll not be making the mods that kiseca did in his excellent build here: Progress so far, has seen the cockpit painted, decals going on and the rotor head has been built. Still not sure whether to do her in flight or on the ground but I do want all the weapons showing so I'll likely go in flight... Only issue so far is that the decals for Dominic's station are slightly out of register with the embossed parts but, as you can barely see it once fitted in the body, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. Very nice and very crisp work 👍 -
Having built one in 1/350 I could be tempted but perhaps I should finish the other 4 1/200 ships I have first 😃

There are rumours of a 1/200 Fletcher Class destroyer being done by Trumpeter.

Small Designer 3D parts for Tamiya CVN65

I've gone ahead and ordered some of the detail parts, I'll report back when I've got my hands on them... John -
Whilst it is of the Soryu rather than the Vanguard there is a review of the Soryu (which uses the same 3D printed, resin, metal type parts selection) here: http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewtopic.php?f=84&t=359495

As well the EM gauge layout I've posted about, I'm building my own version of the location but in diesel days, here are a couple of pics: Despite the almost total lack of scenery, I thought this view under the bridge was quite effective even as it stands, I rather like the fact you can see the gradient change down the train... 4 SLW Class 24s in view with two double heading the iron ore train. A view from the other end. All the track is hand built with individual sleepers and chairs (around 5,000 chairs so far). and the lever frame for the signal box (58 levers out of an eventual total of 85): John

Bit of a long shot but, having decided that this is year I finally build the Tamiya 1/350 Enterprise CVN 65 that my wife bought me about 25 years ago, I've been looking at the aftermarket available for it, does any one have any experience of using the parts from Small Designer sold by 3D-WILD? https://3d-wild.com/collections/cvn-65-enterprise-conversion-kits John

Kostas Katseas, a real talent!
johndon replied to Iceman 29's topic in General Maritime modelling chat
He posted this in another forum earlier today: For those of you that you did follow my FB page note that my account got hacked a few weeks ago and as a result i have lost all control and access to it so it will remain dead from now on with me being unable to respond or even see new messages and ofcource unable to updated as well.Instead i please visit my new page with similar title- Kostas ship models version 2 - if you want to see any new updates on my models. And yes as i am building almost 100% now on a commission basis , my production rate and variety of subjects is a direct result on my customer base wish and demand to a large extent. -

USS Arizona 1:200 + KAModels & Eduard
johndon replied to Mikemc's topic in Ready for Inspection - Maritime
Whilst there is no doubt that they are large models, one good thing is that they aren't very wide - my 1/200 Iowa (which is wider than Arizona) is significantly narrower than 1 /48 scale Spitfire's wingspan for example.- 27 replies

Help - Ship in Water Diorama Advice
johndon replied to Bill1974's topic in General Maritime modelling chat
Very effective water can be made using tin foil and PVA glue, do a search on YouTube for 'How to Make a Realistic Ocean Diorama Base' for a video by scale-a-ton. Whilst not a ship model, I've used the method on Thunderbird 2 diorama and will definitely use it when I do my next ship...
