  1. Can you illustrate this exactly? What square insigna? Steve
  2. Excellent I have all the info. I need. It seems my F-104G will be fine to build the Turkish bird w/ a C-2 seat. I think I am going to get the Hanants F-104J since it is cheaper than many other people gouging on the CF-104's So I can get the bits on the CF-104/F-104J bits to do a TF-104G Danish AF version too. So here is mu plan 1/48 -Turkish F-104G (built from F-104J kit) -Danish TF-104G (built from TF-104G kit w/ extras from J kit) -Italian F-104S -German F-104G I have a full Daco set which will fill in many areas of these builds esp. the F-104S and F-104G ...Now for 1/72 -CF-104 (green scheme or Bare metal Cold Lake havent decide yet) -F-104J JASDF -F104G (Marineflieger) -TF-104 (Revell kit) Havent decide what scheme yet--Any ideas?? I have already completed F-104C (USAF -Monogram kit)
  3. Good info. Guys One more question. Would the Turkish F-104G from 1974 (Iliad decal ) have any of the RWR fairings fitted from the Candaair built F-104s? Or would it be a straight F-104G build w/ Lockheed C-2 seat? Also which wheels on the Turkish Airframe and bulged or none bulged MLG doors? I am asking to know which kit would be better to start from for the Turkish F-104--The Hasegawa F-104G or CF-104?? Thanks Again Steve
  4. Thank you very useful. So it looks like the Airfix instructiosn were kinda of correct? So what is a good match for Matt Steel Gray in Tamiya range?,.....How about XF-56 Metallic Gray?? So would Sea Vixen Circa 1966 Red Tops have White or green Wings and Fins? It seems the Lt. Aircraft Gray that Airfix states is wrong? Thanks Again BTW- If interested Ican post the build on here? Steve,
  5. Helpful info. The timeline is 1974 so pre-Norwegian Airframes so def. Canadair CF-104 airframe w/ C-2 seat. Also the new Daco set I have has some nice details for this airframe. hope to do both Turkish and Pakistan F-104's. Now need to know if there is any major differences between F104B (PAF) and the TF-104G (Hasegawa kit). So I can do a two seat PAF F-104B out of the 1/48 Hasegawa TF-104G. I am thinkng they are pretty close? Both have the wider rudder and they both have the internal fuel capacity reduced?? Steve
  6. Ok The one son the Ilad decals sheet are Ex-Canadair models? The one in the article is a later version-Ex-Norwegian. Ok Since I am doing the earlier one it is the C-2 seat??? When ddi the Turkish AF get the Ex-Norwegian airframes? This was the last batch received by he Turkish AF? Steve
  7. I was wondering what the equivalency is for Humbrol 87 Matt Steel Gray in the Acrylic Tamiya range for the Red Top Missle for the Sea Vixen?? The fins are Light Aircraft Gray and I found Tamiya XF-20 is a close match. Any help is appreciated Steve,
  8. I thought the F-104G's from Germany had Martin-Baker seats at this time? AS this article shows the ADC Gray F-104 with Martin Baker seat?? http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Fea1/701-800/Fea790_F-104_Acikgoz/00.shtm I was wondering if the Turkish F-104's had Late or early seats?? Steve
  9. Since I have the Daco Set what version of the German seat did Turkish F-104s use-early or late?? Circa 1974. I am doing the one on this decal sheet: http://www.hyperscale.com/2011/reviews/decals/iliad48020decalreviewkb_1.htm Any help is greatly appreciated Steve
  10. <DELETED> You need to have 100 posts to be able to buy and sell on Britmodeller, and of course use the correct area.
  11. Good idea like to see your Hunter dio. I have some more photos I can post some of my F-105 project here. I did both the Hobbyboss kit and the older Monogram kit. Both have their respective strengths and weaknesses but for a diorama scene the Hobbyboss kit is the way to go b. Some of the detail parts on the Hobbyboss kit are soft and require some replacing with the older Monogram kit. Century series aircraft are my thing! I did a series of article in SAMI back in 1999-2002 when Richard Franks was the editor. I am looking forward to the Kittyhawk F-101A/C my favorite airframe of all time I hope they do a good job!?!?! Here are some photos of my F-105 build: Wheels: Tail assembly & trolley build: Steve
  12. I am watching this one since I have an Aeroclub Sea Venom ready for building so this will help. I plan to get your wheels Thanks Rizzo. Here was one of my last works: I was wondering have you ever built the Aeroclub Hunters? Steve (Anglo-phile British Historian from America)
  13. I was wondering how they go together and how is the details vs. the Academy kit? Anyone have any build photos? I know it is one of the better vac. kits out there since I have the Sea venom and started some minor work on it and love it. Just think the engraving details is bit soft so one needs to re-engrave some panel lines--I suspect the hunter is the same? I built some Dynavector (Wyvern, Scimitar & Skyshark) kits too and thought the engraving detail is no better than the Aeroclub kits I just think it is a limitation of the medium It is funny that Revell did the Hunter (all nice kits too) in 1/32, 1/72 and 1/144 but failed to do one in 1/48? I wonder why? The Academy kit was out but the Revell kit would have been much better? Any chance Airfix may tackle this one after the Scimitar and Vampire-Venom family?? Steve
  14. I am in the USA. But any source for a 1/48 Sea Venom would be appreciated Steve
  15. Which is better---the Classic Airframes or Aeroclub kit.? Ok Which one will cost less? I would like to get one for my FAA collection and it seems they are hard to find and expensive? Not to mention a Sea Vampire in 1/48???? Any help woold be greatly appreciated. I offered a boat load of 1/72 kits in trade but no bites? Steve
  16. My absolute favourite Airframe and in the Single seat version by far the sexiest of the Voodoo!. Fast and sleak. I am thinking closer to Jan., 2014. I plan to get at least 2 F-101A/C's and probably 2 RF-101's Here is a photo favorite from my collecdtion Photo removed as the copyright is disputed. Steve, Currently working on: 1/48 Airfix Sea Vixen 1/72 Hasegawa F9F-8P conversion 1/700 Bandai IDF Cruiser (scratchbuild--kit) 1/1000 Bandai Polmeira Garmillas Battle Carrier (new tool0
  17. I thank you for your time & efforts! I like the Tamiya range of Acrylics for many reason ONE being readily available in USA and they mix well and shoot nicely in the Airbrush. MY Color question What are the closest matches to these British Colors in the Tamiya Range??: -Extra Dark Sea Gray (I heard XF-77 is a close match??) -Dark Sea Gray -Ocean Gray -RAF Dk. Green (Post war Jets-Hunters, and Jaguars esp.) And if you have a few suggestions fro some other RAF & esp. FAA aircraft Post 1945 would be helpful! BTW- I did some research online and came up with some conflicting opinions-Just looking for approximate matches don't need exact I am more artist than technician! Humbly bow to the Experten! Steve
  18. Since I am an American perhaps my vote doesn't count/ But I would like to see the following in RN/RAF & USAF/USN subjects: 1/48 -Supermarine Scimitar -Sea Harrier -Vulcan (just too important to ignore) -Fairey Firefly (Korean War) -F-102 -F-106 -F11F-1 Tiger -F2H-2 Banshee (Korean War) Steve F9F-8 Cougar (I know Kittyhawk is doing the twogar but would rather have an Airfix release)
