  1. Stay on Target! Stay on Target!. Just couldnt resist nice work! Steve
  2. Very nice indeed. Going The same route as your Carrier you did. Are you doing a platform for it again? Steve
  3. Well deserved award. great build! Love the Draken in NM. Rarely see it! This would look great next the Tunaan & Lansen in 1/48 Swedish build idea!...I may do in 1/72?!?! Steve
  4. Very nice Mig! The finish is Perfect. understated and realistic! All you need is a 1/72 pilot walking to his plane!. Great build & presentation! Steve
  5. Sure looks nice -will be getting one. Do you think Airfix will do the 1/72 Supermarine Scimitar? I would be tempted in 1/48 since I did build the Sea Vixen. Love those FAA jets! Steve
  6. Nicel Done Very clean build !. ready for the run on the Bridges. Steve
  7. I have had your problem before with the same exact materials. The problem is Chemical and not your fault. The oils in the enamel some how "float" on the Tamiya Lacquer Primer. IT is the type of Lacquer Tamiya uses since if you use the MM primers (both Enamel & Lacquers) the problems does not seem to appear. I had to strip down the whole kit too. There are two solutions that I do when I do GSB airframes and I do quite a few: -Avoid using Tamiya primers and use either Model Master or Testors primers [i think Humbrol may work too-Enamel ONLY) if you use use the Model Master Gloss Sea Blue (Flat sea Blue ) same paint formula. -OR Alternatively use the Tamiya colors: XF-17 Sea Blue (Acrylic) gloss over it. OR AS-8 Navy Blue (Tamiya Spray can Lacquer). I personally use Tamiya Acrylic (XF-17) in light coats then gloss over with Testors Lacquer (After 48 hours for Acrylics to dry and it works well). I thin ALL Tamiya acrylics with Isopropyl Alcohol 91% and it gets enough bite into the plastic surface & primer to make a nice finish. When it dries it accepts the Testors Lacquer Flat & Clear coats & the Tamiya Clear coats too-(this includes Gunze SAngyo clear coats ) since Tamiya & Gunze seem to use the same formula. HTH Steve,
  8. Great loss!!...His ELP (favorite band btw) album cover and Alien work alone influenced a whole generation of artists and Special effects people. You still see his influence in films today. He deserves a Lifetime achievement Academy award along with Ralp McQuarrie both of course POSTHUMOUSLY! Steve
  9. BTW- Go for the Airfix kit in 1/72 for the Seasprite. tThe Fujimi kit is inaccurate and very basic. Airfix-MPC kit is rather nice. here si mine with a little bit of sacratchbuilding! Steve
  10. Good to see . Like one in IAF markings . Indo-Pakistani war era? Hope they get the canopy clear parts right..No debacle like on the 1/72 Lightnings and Vampires!?!?! Steve
  11. Thanks My canopy (here in the States) bought from a Local Hobby shop has the same flaw. I just contacted Airfix. Lets see what they do about it? Steve,
  12. Will they do a K model? That is the one I want! Steve
  13. IF EDUARD WAS SMART THEY WOULD DO A 1/48 JET...AN AVOID THE 109 EXPERTEN AND THE INHERENT DEBATES THAT ENSUE.....ducking from the shoes and fruits being thrown at me LOL NOW Lets see them do a 1/48 new tool accurate T-33...This will make them $$ worldwide since everyone flew this type!! Steve
  14. Cool I am finishing up the 1/72 Sword F2H-2 Banshee for an article. Ncie kit but have some fit issues nothing crazy...It would be pretty easy for Hobbyboss to scale down those two kits and they would be easy to build to boot! But I will take whoever does one in 1/72?? Steve
  15. WHY YES!!!!. What medium? Resin? Limited run Mainstream?? BUT most defintely in 1/48 Sorry 1/32 is just too big for me but wold consdier it if it was a real nice kit Steve,
  16. I asked this on another forum(no names ) and got a less tahn favourable response, so I thought I would ask here since you guys are friendly and fun. I was wondering if anyone knew or even hinted that perhaps Hobbyboss would scale down their 1/48 F3H Demon and FJ-4/4B Fury to 1/72...desperatly needed to replace the aging Emhar kits??? Steve
  17. Well we are going to have to wait. IT is NOT like we dont have anything to build in the meantime LOL...Besides the kittyhawk 1/48 Voodoo comes out next month Cnat wait for that one! BTW-Hobbyboss didnt do a bad job on the 1/48 F-84F...seems to be better than the rest including the Monogram kit! Steve
  18. You could load up bombs on the outer wing pylons too and then half tank the aircraft ... take off and re-fuel in air immediately. This was to get maximum load out not something typically done... This may help: "The Thunderchief made an excellent tactical bomber. The internal bomb bay had originally been designed with nuclear weapons in mind, but for operations in Southeast Asia, the internal bay of the F-105D rarely carried any ordnance, usually being fitted with a 365-gallon auxiliary fuel tank. With the exception of the ammunition for the M61A1 cannon, all the ordnance was carried externally. With multiple ejector racks the F-105D could carry an impressive load of external fuel, ECM gear, and up to eight 750-pound bombs on long-range missions. On short-range missions, it could carry sixteen 750-pound bombs. Alternative combat loads were two 3000-pound bombs or three drop tanks. On a typical mission over North Vietnam, the F-105D would carry six 750-pound bombs or five 1000-pound bombs, along with two 450 US-gallon drop tanks. The D could also carry the Martin AGM-12 Bullpup air-to-surface missile, but this weapon was to prove almost useless in Vietnam against hardened targets. The F-105D could carry 2.75-inch rocket pods, napalm canisters, as well as four AIM-9 Sidewinder infrared homing air-to-air missiles. The M61A1 Gatling-type 20-mm cannon proved invaluable in the dual role of air-to-air combat and ground strafing. With its size and range, the F-105D could carry twice the bombload further and faster than the F-100." Quoted from Jack Broughton, _Going Downtown: The War Against Hanoi & Washington_
  19. Update on rumour So much fun. Some one said " Not Hasegawa but someon else" I hope it is NOT Hobbyboss . Since the F-80 was a disaster. Lets hope a good producer. Hasegawa would be the best bet. NOW remember none of these rumours are confirmed so this is pure speculation and some informed specualtion on my part about Hasegawa. It just makes sense for Hasegawa to do a 1/48 T-33 family since they could get an endless amount of boxings which seem to sell well for them and gets high collector prices too! I know new tooling is immensley expensive and getting a lot of boxings out of your tooling offsets this a bit Look at the A-4, F-104 and Draken families by Haseagwa in 1/48 Steve,
  20. Quite a few issues with the Academy T-33 I have built two & used Gerry Ashers replacement fuselage from Fox-3. Nice job he did in getting the length and intakes correct on this bird. So to get it accurate you would need to do some surgery. Some prominent areas that need some help-intakes, overal length, and of course the cockpit for starters But of course you can just build it out of box for fun. BUT a new tooled 1/48 Hasegawa T-33 (accurate) would be welcome. It seems the intakes are the hardest part (look @ the crappy Hobbyboss P/F-80 in 1/48)...perhaps Hasegawa could tool it to do a P/F-80 too!!! Well in retrospect Academy-Hobbycraft did a better job than Hobbyboss on The intake areas on The T-33/F-80 family in 1/48 What makes me think is that Hasegawa could turn out endless renditions with special markings (which they love to do) and get serious mileage out of the kit since just about everyone flew them! Steve
  21. IN the past few days I have heard something on these lines. May not be a reliable but it does make sense for Hasegawa ....immense possiblity of re-boxings in many many markings esp. if they get it right!! Now this will be nice if true due to Hasegawa's slow output in 1/48 in the lasr few years since (Draken) Steve
  22. Detail and Scale is your best bet for price but this is a very good for read and has some great photso but mostly data and a great read: _Intruder: Operation History of Grummans' A-6_ by Mark & Rick Morgan HTH Steve
  23. Only the B's flew the Iron Hands but they are pretty close to A' ...most of the stuff is internal . You could try a Shrike load out but you really need to know era and Carrier air wing etc... to do that load out. Later in the war but they did fly A' through out Steve
