  1. Nice memories. I vividly remember the day I bought my bagged Anson in 1962 or 1963, I think, from the The Model Dockyard in central Melbourne. I was subsequently marched off to a forced watching of the cricket at the MCG that afternoon but all I saw was those magical bits in the bag and that highly atmospheric header illustration. Today's kits are so much 'better' but none was as enchanting as those that came from Airfix - in a bag. Michael
  2. Nice work, nice photographs - more is the pity that aeroplanes today do not look as aeroplane-y as they did then, Michael
  3. A lot of skill and patience involved. Great work, admirable result, Michael
  4. An admirable effort. What a delightful project you have here. Watching with interest, Michael
  5. There may be other interpretations of that apparent colour variation. The aircraft appears to be OD, so it is most unlikely to have anti-glare paint on it. More likely, it is a photographic anomaly, new paint work, shadow from a port wing of an aircraft above or a permutation of these.
  6. A superb looking machine - if you stare at the pictures long enough, it almost becomes real.
  7. The finished result is great. I am building this kit at the moment and what an absolute pleasure it is compared to some recent, larger scale versions on the market. Is it 'accurate'? Does it really matter? It looks fine from here.
  8. A recent purchase of a Monogram 1/48 B-24J arrived with the bombardier's canopy in three pieces. After much experimentation with spare box clear parts, which I broke up, and after employing a variety of 'clear' adhesive brands, I found that drowning the three parts (after setting them on a piece of Blu-tak to support the three pieces) was Micro Kristal Klear. This I poured into the cupped whole and just let it settle, then dry for two days in dry, Australian weather. The result would not work that well for a top-of the-kit canopy as it was clouded. However, the result, although clouded, did hide the cracks in the transparency for this under-the-fuselage piece, Michael
  9. Did any Bomber Command Mosquito B Mk IVs ever appear with Dark Earth / Dark Green upper surfaces? There seems to be conflicting sources, some stating a grey / green pattern. Any advice appreciated, Michael
  10. Ron, It might be another aircraft, but if you want it to be LM5838 'PO.O', then why not? I would. This is a relativist approach - one that is at odds with the view that evidence must be found. After all these years since 1944, I see no harm in it Michael
  11. That's okay, as you can see from my Tuesday post, once upon a time I too knew that too, Michael
  12. Well spotted, Paul, That source was Pheon. Whilst they no longer supply these struts/wheels correction items, an email to Pheon led me to the original manufacturer, Brian Fawcett. Brian has closed production but has sold me some of the last sets. They are not cheap but they do make the 1/48 Eduard Albatros D.V/a look so much better. Brian can only be reached here: [email protected] Michael
  13. Thanks John, this is a great help. Some years back, I recall being able to purchase a corrected set of struts and wheels for this purpose. Whoever was the source escapes me, Michael
  14. Thank you John, Should the opportunity arise, I would love to see those extra pics, Michael
  15. Apologies if these matters are already explained elsewhere on the site, There appears to be a problem with the u/c of the Eduard D.V - are the struts too short? - if so, are corrected versions available? - does this carry over to the Eduard D.III version? About the Mistercraft Albatros D.III; is this a re-boxing of another brand? Thank you, Michael
  16. That is a most impressive result. As others have said, the weathered finish is fine work indeed, Michael
  17. That is great work - on the kit and on the context-rich presentation you have provided. Michael
  18. Your Beaufort is very fine indeed. The colour scheme is particularly impressive and the wear and tear is very convincing. I like it a lot! Michael
  19. Lovely collection, introduced with a very subversive opening line. Michael
  20. It looks great. Your respect for cats is commendable. Should you offend them they can, even after leaving this earth, still come back to get you, Michael
