  1. Thanks Tony, truly orange compared to the red on the props...... mind you, the gull gray with the skull 'n crossbones on the tail looks very good.......what did I say about being decisive.......... Dave
  2. Thanks Gents. just starting to plan for my next diverse pair, Trump Mig F-13 and................ Cheers for now, Dave
  3. Glad you like my Emil 'n figure (it is Molders, but just there 'cos it's the best early war pilot I could find, not 'cos he flew this plane) Thanks again..... Dave
  4. Thanks to all for the help, looks like orange has it...... need to get this one finished, just picked up a Mig F-13, can't wait to start this one, have to brush up on me alclad skills though..... Cheers again, Dave
  5. Just picked up me F13 from Mike at MJW models (nice having a club member in the business ), looks like a Mig to me......, so Dave's rule one applies, "the less time spent rivet counting, the more time spent modeling" I can see another "diverse pair" post early next year, Mig F13, either in Cuban or Vietnamese markings, paired with Academy's new Phantom or Hasegawa Crusader....I do wish I was decisive..... Dave
  6. very nice looking kit, looks lots different to the usual desert finish you see around........ Well done Dave
  7. Thanks gents, looks like orange then...... Cheers Dave
  8. Here's another one made earlier. Eduards 1/32 Bf 109 E-1. Kit went together well, no real problems, I can recommend it to all..... Markings and camo represent Yellow 12 of 3/JG 27 based in France, flown by Fw Ernst Arnold. This pilot and 'plane were shot down over Kent on 30 August 1940, Ernst was taken prisoner. The victory was claimed by Brian Carbury, flying with 603 Sqdn, RAF. Thanks for looking....
  9. I've just got to the painting stage of my T28C Trojan, here's the question, is it Red or international orange....... Instructions say red, but a couple of reviews I've seen use int orange I've looked at some pic's, but there not much help..... So if anyone can help, please let me know..... Cheers Dave
  10. Very nice planes, Chipmunk takes me back to Air Cadet days, and later helping run flights for Cadets while based at Marham in the mid 70's... Dave
  11. Thanks for the comments Gents......... Patrick, to get the walkway effect, I dabbed maskol over the base colour using a green scouring pad (pinched from the kitchen), then masked off walkways and painted with Tamiya Nato black. Once dry, I misted over some lightened Nato black. After removing the tape, I rubbed over the walkways gently, again with the green pad, to remove the maskol and give a slight scuffed look. Hope that helps, Cheers, Dave
  12. Here's a couple I did earlier, both in 1/72 scale, the Birdcage Corsair is from Tamiya, the Zero is a Fine molds kit, came in two parts with a magazine, all in Japanese, including the instructions....... Thanks for looking, Dave
  13. Thanks to you all for lookin' n'comentin, biggest problem now is what next, somthing bought at Telford, or out of loft insulation..... Dave
  14. Damm good work, I've always liked Italian camo, and this is done to perfection.... Dave
  15. Lovely Emil, dirty 'planes always seem more realistic to me, nice !! Dave
  16. Thanks for looking gents, and many thanks for the comments.... Cheers, Dave
  17. My latest finished 'plane, Tamiya's Mustang, along with an earlier build, Tamiya's Zero. Both would have been active over Japan in 1945...... [ Thanks for looking, Dave
  18. Nice finish Paul, I'll see how brave I feel once it's all stuck together..... Cheers, Dave
  19. Thanks for all the help, the website looks good....... Cheers Dave
  20. Thanks for the replies.... I've tried paper 'n bluetac before, but usually on single engine fighters, it's the sheer amount of mottle that scares me, but I'll just have to bite the bullet..... But there's a few weeks yet before the paint comes out.... Thanks again Dave
  21. Hi Ross, Kit options are the A2 late, A5 or 7. I'm not sure of the differences, so will be looking for some references, any recommendations ?? Dave
  22. Hi, I bought the new Revell Owl at the weekend, kit looks fantastic ( 1/32 twin for 34 quid !!!) even looks like it will go together OK, only problem for me will be getting that mottle efect right.... (have discounted freehand airbrushing, I'm nowhere near good enough for that) So any ideas ????? In hope........ DaveH
  23. Most radomes were a bit better than the one you show, allthough the original mid green colour did fade very unevenly. Some also had 'patch' repairs, carried out using epoxy resin, these were quite small areas, 2-4cm across, light brown in colour, and were often caused by burnout when the scanner was stuck in one position, but still radiating...... If you're not fitting the intake guard, don't forget to fitt the gun camara midway up the bottom radar support, not many modellers do this..... cheers, Dave ( ex Radar bay 'n 11Sqdn, Binbrook, early eighties....)
  24. A very nice pair....... I spent 3 years at Binbrook in the early eighties, so I can understand your obsession..... Dave H
