  1. Having seen, what had done Trumpeter with tailplanes on Spit V.b in 32md scale (if I remember correctly), I love even more the old crude kits like old hasegawa...
  2. I see flat tailpilanes. I thought, that they should be straight on X...?
  3. This week was rather suck-sessfull instead of success. On Monday I put my hand between fighting tomcats, when trying to rectify somehow the XII, whole thing dropped to floor, and kicked off thw wingtips...
  4. Dear Graham, with all respect 2U, only totally blind can praise Italeri Spits (1:72) fuselage. Missing lines around the wing joint, terrible tailplanes, surpricing nose, unusable canopy, etc. It's simpler to count what Italeri did well (can't remember), instead of counting mistakes. Much cheaper way to VI would be thru old Airfix with SMER Spitfire VI (rebox of heller V with resin parts for VI), at least, it would lead to much better VI in terms of shape and size. Another way for brave ones might be AZ's offering, though should be kept in mind, it is limited run.
  5. Bought yesterday new Airfix Hawk. Will be built OOB, detailing will be done from stretched sprue, toothpaste foil, wire etc..
  6. Shhh -- you should not tell him, at least no earlier, until he drops the last shot of clear varnish...
  7. I thought wheel wells should had been underside color...?
  8. Would spare amount of keyboards, if you'd count what italeri made correct instead of counting errors...
  9. Really, looks superb... BTW... Isn't xtracrylics just Czech Agama range, specially packaged and branded for Hannants? If so, then it's obvious, why it didn't work without primer... Back to kitbashing... I'm aware of the fact, that XIX is double stage Griffon. My refferal to Sword XII reflects, in spite the box is Xtrakit's, the mold is made by Sword. My idea is, that as I grafted tail of XIX to AZ's 22, I have incomplete Griffon fusselage. Therefore, cutting nose of IX.c, and adding the shortened (according to XV or XVII) nose of XIX would give me usable base of XV. Another idea occurs - cutting the nose off IX and adding the nose of XIX would give me the XIV prototype with thin rudder...
  10. Very inspirative pic! Have any more? Paints used? Thanks for kind words, but primarilly I have to finish both of my XII's (clipped and EN221), then to build that damn seafire... I must admit, that I'm thinking about cross kitting the front part of XIX, that's unused after surgery, with IX.c... I find the Sword's XII enjoyable, but somehow... Tiring.
  11. Various shades of interior green I got used to mix from Hu:81 and Hu:33 in various ranges.
  12. Little progress on XII: Tail planes on... Nose glued... A little nasty job... And how does look the cross kitted Mk.22 proto... Wing just dry stuck to fusselage.
  13. Kit has certain shape problems, fortunately, solvable with some putty and sand paper. Also you will need to rescribe the bottom part of wing.
  14. The cockpit green looks rather for Thunderbolt than Spitfire...
  15. Don't tell me, that these are being still produced (Yes, I'm RR modeller, fan of Table Top scale)...?
  16. Not 21, but 22. And the tail - it's Airfix. Looks a little bit small, but fit is acceptable even with no putty. On the bottom, I had to add some sheet styrene, but really, nothing to be afraid of. Just an explanation, I made this surgery in attempt to build Spit Mk.22, PK312 or PK315, as they are othh documented pretty well, having smaller (like XIV) rudder for certain period. Currently, this particular project was suspended, as I got extra fusselage from AZ Spit XVIII/XIV, and the fit 22/24 wing is quite promising. BTW, getting the cowling together...
  17. A little progress... BTW... Should I finish this one?:
  18. Adding a little of life into wheel wells of Spitfire IX.c of airfix is permitted? Something like this:
  19. From in progress pics it looked sometimes as very dirty build, byt the finished kit pics are unexpectedly good. wEll done!!! Tailwheel is nothing against the damn clear part...
  20. Of course - I thought, concerning matters of gun, there's no possible confusion. I spoiled amount of IX's on the wheel bulges...
  21. Will be added along with doors. BTW, I already glued it together.
  22. Don't forget to sand off the bulges on the VIII's wing. If making wartime spit., they difinitely shouldn't be there.
