  1. Thank you gents ..... now a bit of progress from last few days. I have applied Hobbydecal stencils a added chipping to anti-glare panel. Cowling is still to be weathered.
  2. Thanks for answer, will try it but don't think that result will be half as good as yours .... it looks really great!
  3. Really impresive! .... What method have you used for those nice oil stains? (if not a secret of course)
  4. Masking of that chequers was a nigtmare, I have sprayed yellow color and masked with small squares cut from tamiya tape, then oversprayed black. But it was the last time I did such a foolish thing Cheers Ludek
  5. Many thanks to all for your kind words....I did not expect so many replies and it's really nice to see positive feedback Stoohoo: Revell P-51 kit is really nice in terms of details and good fit of plastic parts. But what I can see as real problem is the canopy. Clear parts supplied with the kit are very very poor. I have used windshield only and the rest is "home made" vacuform. I didn't came out perfectly but still better that the original parts. If you are looking for a nice model, buy some aftermarket vacuform canopy. Believe me it's worth of it because the rest of the kit is quite nice and detailed for a 1/72 scale. Kit decals are also good and all the markings and stripes you see on pics are OOB decals. Unfortunately, can't say the same about P-47. It's decals are unusable and I had to mask & spray all the black/yellow checquer marking on tail.
  6. Thanks a lot for your kind words friends....I'm really pleased you like my attempts in 1/72 scale (too small for me anyway ) You are spot on! Because we use water to cook excelent beer. That's all the magic
  7. Hi, I just want to share a few pics of models I did maybe a year ago, they are both 1/72 which is quite unusual for me. I prefer 1/48 scale so this was a build for fun only, but I really enjoyed to try something different. Hope you gonna like it, even that it was built like OOB only P-47D Razorback (Academy 1/72) P-51B Mustang (Revell 1/72) Thanks for watching
  8. Thanks for comments gents ..... now, marking sprayed using Montex mask, I had some troubles when removing masks. Paint probably did not stick to silver color as good, and insignias are nibbled around outer edges. I have also airbrushed some dirt mainly in the wing root areas. Thanks for watching
  9. Small progress again...cowling and anti-glare strip sprayed. I've also airbrushed a base for weathering, which will be done with oil colors mostly
  10. Some progress again...I was unhappy with contrast of panels, so had to overspray with heavy diluted mix of silver. Also sprayed the black strips.
  11. Thanks for your replies gents ..... now, some progress after 6 hours of masking and shading panels. But still unhappy with the result and work continues....
  12. And this is how it looks like after basic layer of GSI Super metallic SM01 ..... but please take it really as the basic layer. A lot of masking and shading of individual panels is still in front of me Thanks to all for comments
  13. Thanks Andy, but there's too early to call it award winner ...... I'm just wondering what will show up after nmf is sprayed. It looks ok now but metallic color would highlight weak spots
  14. Finally got the rivet work done and will move onto applying GSI Supermetallic colors....there's a few bits to be still fixed but nothing major. Few photos of progress... Thanks for looking
  15. Nice job my friend! I can't believe it's just 1/72 kit....looks like a much bigger scale to me. Again, good work!
  16. Thanks for your comments ... now regarding the riveting tool. I'm using Dousek "Rosie the riveter" tool which is the best I've ever tried. I like that it really does almost circular rivets, not a squares or rectangles like other tools usually do. You may check a review of this product at following link... Rosie the riveter Martin Dytrych: Thanks buddy, good idea with separating rudder. Will give it a try
  17. Thanks to all for your comments Now,some progress after a long time.....all comments or critics is more than welcome. I've painted wheel wells, they are excellent straight of the box so nothing more than a few wires was necessary. Wing is not glued to fuselage yet so some wires are not joined to fuselage part and may look odd. Fuselage with added rivet lines... Cowling done... And just started on riveting wings which will be the most challenging part....sooooo many rivets to be done Thanks for looking
  18. What can I say.....this is just amazing and really have a look of real airplanes. Can't believe it's only a 1/48 kit.......OUTSTANDING WORK!
  19. Cant find word how to describe you amazing work....just looking at the photos and enjoying one of the best cockpits I've ever seen. You gave me a great batch of inspiration, thanks for that
  20. Thanks Rob....hope it will come out as I want it but it will be a long track run. Have only a few hours per week which I can spend on modelling. Please be patient
  21. Engine assembly finally done....I have used OOB engine and added plug wiring with some extra pipes to represent R-2800 engine. Now going to glue wings and fuselage separately so there is better access for a riveting wheel. Joining the wings and fuselage will be the last operation after rivets are done. Cheers Ludek
  22. Thanks......my camera is Fuji Finepix 8100fd, but still learning how to use it's settings and also trying to find suitable lighting condition.
  23. Very nice weathering....it has a look of a real plane. I like the "salt method" you've used on cowlings. Good job
  24. I have tried to match original Dull dark green shade by mixing colors as they originally did in WWII....DDG is basically a mix of Bronze green and Black so I've used Gunze GSI C colors to make it the same way. To Martin Dytrych: I know you're always watching.....no mistake can be concealed under your "microscope" eyes ))
