It was indeed! The Black Island

1/144 X-Scale HS Trident 1C - finished, a great wee kit, always wanted a model of this since I first read Tintin! Crisply moulded, great fit and lovely details for 1/144 scale! Great decal options, the decals are very thin - they tended to break apart if Micro Sol was used but no issues with Set alone and gentle handling. The kitset also included masks for windscreen, wheels and paint scheme!

I re-made my 1/35 Ryefield Models Challenger II that I finished a year ago as a Ukrainian version. Might add some more weathering. I designed the lower front hull bar-armour and 3D printed - also the Ukrainian-style aerial and mounts. (They are available on Cults 3D if interested - littlebitsnz)

There's been a lot of discussion around the HARM this aircraft is armed with, but none I can find on the aircraft itself... looks to be a dark gray/gray camo scheme (demarcation beneath canopy?) with a white nose cone and a shark's mouth applied. Doesn't seem to be an ex-Polish or Slovakian scheme either? Has anyone seen other photos of this aircraft please?

Austin Armoured Cars towed by 'heavy' tanks in 1918?
IanW replied to IanW's topic in AFV WWI & Interwar
Thanks for the reply - you bring up a good point that had made me wonder... how did "towing" the cars make crossing trenches, terrain, etc any easier? But if they were on sledges, that makes more sense. -
Hi, Have just purchased MiniArt's Austin AC and read about how in the 1918 Battle of Amiens, 17th AC Battalion's cars were towed across no-man's land by 'heavy' tanks. Am assuming these would be Mk.V's but has anyone come across photos or more detailed information as to exactly how this took place, taks involved, etc? I would love to make as a diorama! Thanks very much, Ian

G-AYOZ or Fair oaks Aerodrome in 1970s pictures?
IanW replied to IanW's topic in Classic - up to 1968
Thanks bzn20! Yes, I saw those pics on Google - the green/yellow older scheme looks pretty 70s retro, so maybe how G-AYOZ would have looked in 1972? Cheers, Ian -
Hi, I’m trying to find any photos from the 1970s of Cessna 150s operated out of Fair Oaks, UK. My dad flew from there and I particularly want to build a model of the C150 he solo’ed in, G-AYOZ. Ive found some pics online, but they are quite recently taken. Thanks for any help, Ian

Hi, I have the AM 1/48 B-25C/D kit and really want to finish in bare metal rather than OD/Gray... can anyone please point me to any pics if such aircraft exist, esp. in European Theatre? Thanks very much, Ian

Awesome, thanks for that!

Hi, I want to finish my Tamiya Cromwell with the hessian camouflage tape netting such as that produced by Black Dog. But I can't actually find any photos online of any vehicle with such camouflage applied. Can anyone please help me by pointing me to some pics? Thanks very much, Ian

DC-6 Minicraft, TEAL (Tasman Empire Airways Ltd) 1/144
IanW replied to IanW's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Hey, thanks for all the kind comments guys! MikeW, the aerials are just stretched (black) sprue with some dollops of crystal clear for insulators (?). Yep, a DC-8 is on my list too, am waiting for the right-length kit to come out - at the rate we have of new releases, it can't be far away!! Along with a new DC-10! Cheers, Ian -
