Coming Soon: 1/350 TOS Enterprise Photoetch Set
Paulbo replied to Paulbo's topic in Science Fiction Discussion
Thanks! It's been a real labor of love. -
I have completed designing the Supplemental Photoetch Set for Polar Lights' upcoming 1/350 scale TOS Enterprise. Since their PE set already includes grills for the warp engines and pylons, my set does not. Instead, it's concentrating on the shuttlecraft hangar and bridge. For the shuttlecraft hangar, I've included grillwork for the air handling vents in the ceiling; lighting "masks" for the windows, control room, ceiling, and the fantail lights; a rolling style door insert for the main rectangular door on the forward bulkhead, as well as figures in two different scales. The people are in two scales (1/350 and 3/4 of that size) because the hangar is actually only 3/4 the size of the one shown on TV due to the TARDIS affect - you can either choose to use "full sized" figures, or ones scaled to the interior. (Part 8 fits under the dome at the rear of the ship to look like a small control console.) The bridge includes lighting masks for the upper display panels, control consoles, and main viewer, as well as railings - options are provided for both the first pilot and series ... including decals. In addition, strips fit into the recessed areas of the bussard collectors to mask them so you don't have to add hundreds of layers of paint there. Backlight transparency film "shadowcasters" are included that can be placed behind windows to give an appearance of depth. This set will sell for $29.99 and will be shipping simultaneously with the kit. Click Here for more info and preordering.

Looks super! I just posted on the WIP thread about the cool use of salt - looking at the fighter again here reminds me of my car this spring with all the pollen that came off the trees
-
Very cool. That's a nice alternative use for salt weathering - I've seen it used many times to get the chipped paint effect and show silver/steel metal below, but I've never seen it used to add dirt and grime. I'm storing that one away in the "cool techniques to remember" file.

It is not only suitable, but there's a WTC on the market: http://www.caswellplating.com/rc-modeling/...-seaview-2.html
-
You could always pick it up at CultTVman for less than 35 pounds. Not sure what he's going to charge for shipping, but it's got to be a heck of a lot less than 40 pounds. http://www.culttvmanshop.com/War-of-the-Wo...ION_p_1665.html

Round 2 models announce 1/350 TOS Enterprise 1701...
Paulbo replied to plasmahal's topic in Science Fiction Discussion
On the flip side, on your side of the pond you'll be able to get the Revell TOS E & Kingon kits directly. P.S. I have REALLY got to make a new avatar just for this site -
It should be there to you any time, now. Speaking of Easy LED, I'll be making an "official" announcement on Friday of Easy LED in color (red, green, blue, and yellow). It'll be at the same price as the white and should be shipping in about a week.
-
You can contact Round 2 ( http://round2models.com/contact ) to ask about getting replacement parts.
-
Props for DLM's lighting kit. Quite nice. As for the remaining lighting, Easy LED is good alternative: http://www.paragrafix.biz/product_detail.a...tNum=PGX139-0.6 . No need to calculate resistors.

Iain Costall ordered a bunch of stuff quite a while back planning to open a shop in the UK. I don't know what the status of it is. Also, I just shipped a large order to EagleTransporter.com for their store: http://www.eagletransporter.com/store/ . I'm not sure when they'll be posting the pieces and I don't remember if Robby was included in that order. The shipping rate is using Internation Priority mail. While this is about 2 or 3 times sending it straight letter rate, it assures faster delivery.

Very cool! Can't wait to see it completed. Another project on the unending pile - upgrade my old Replica Gun that I bought back around 1980 with the intention of turning it into a stormtrooper blaster.
-
REALLY NEW! Easy LED 20cm - the experimenter's set. About 8" (20cm) long, this set is great for experimenting with Easy LED because of its shorter length and low price ($4.95). And as a bonus, one end is pre-wired so you can work with it right away. http://www.paragrafix.biz/product_detail.a...tNum=PGX139-0.2

Pegasus Hobbies Mars Hopper and Mercury 9
Paulbo replied to Jade Falcon's topic in Science Fiction Discussion
Mercury 9 is available here in the States (I've got one), but the Hopper is still in the pipeline - don't know the release date. -
I would have announced this several days ago, but I've spent the intervening time restocking the shelves after greedy modelers (oops! I mean "wonderful customers" ) practically cleared me out of everything! My newest product release is a photoetch for the Revell/Monogram USS Voyager kit. Even though the Special Edition kit (and recent rerelease) improved many of the original issues problems, there was still some soft detail and "chucky" bits. This PE set addresses those, as well as adding easier to mask inserts in place of the kit's clear windows. Here's what's included: Docking and EVA hatches Textured transporter emitters Replacement warp core covers and details Missing lifeboat covers Easily masked photoetched window inserts Replacements for the solid ready room and conference room windows Impulse engine intakes In-scale B/C deck “roof” details Secondary hull landing gear doors Missing cargo hatches It will be shipping on or about April 19 with an MSRP of $25.95.
-
I'm finally convinced.
-
I can't speak to the between the ribs decals, but my understanding is that the hull insert portion of the decals will work with or without my PE set. You just need to fill the nasty seam between the hull and the inserts themselves before you use the decals. (And do the base color painting, of course.)
-
Hey Jason, While I definitely don't want to steer you away from any of my products ... I DON'T suggest you pick up the hull insert PE set as your first experience with PE. The standard PE Set is fine for novices. I'd suggest checking out my two video instructions for some help getting started. Rob's decals definitely help make this kit look fantastic. Cheers, Paul P.S. Wow, I really have to get off my butt and scale my avatar for this forum.

Rob Holts of Acreation Models has designed a set of decals for the figures. We just have to get some time to chat and figure out how to release them. -

Paulbo replied to Paulbo's topic in Science Fiction Discussion
The etch set is now shipping! -
I can't wait to see what you do with them Marty.
-
I've just posted the order page to my site: http://www.paragrafix.biz/product_detail.a...tNum=PGX139-0.3
-
Yup! Before Friday's announcement I'd mentioned on a thread about the Clipper that I'd have *something* coming
-
Very cool!
