  1. Aerocraft also do the 230gal tanks and a conversion set with the cutout flaps.
  2. Screenshot below from BBC spotters guide. Made me smile.
  3. My second entry is Italeri’s F-104A. Currently toying with building this in flight, if I can find a suitable jet jockey. I will be using aftermarket decals from Wolfpack to represent an F-104A of the 319FIS. Why this aircraft, because the fuselage is ADC grey with white upper wings, this is important because I don’t enjoy painting NMF finishes.
  4. Been looking forward to this one. This is the first of three planned builds, the others being an F-100D have and a F-104A. Might be a tad ambitious with the Revell-Monogram, Canadian and F-5 GBs all starting shortly. These builds will add to my growing collection US Air Defence Command subjects from this most interesting period of aviation. Built the F-102A and F-106A in the Interceptors GB last year. They joined a F-82, F-86D, F-93. Still too add an F-89. First up I will be building Revell’s F-101B Voodoo, will be using the kit decals to produce a aircraft operated by the Texas Air National Guard. This looks like a really nice kit.
  5. Just picked this up from the local delivery office, to add to my F-101B and F-104A.
  6. With nothing on the bench at the moment, took the time to dig through the stash to find my planned entries for this GB. Can’t wait to start.
  7. I’m interested, long way out but thinking Airfix’s 1/48 Hunter F6 wearing Dutch markings.
  8. If you are looking for historically significant, can’t look past HNS Dreadnought. Trumpeter and Zvedza both do it in 1/350.
  9. Thanks for all your kind works. Pictures now added to the gallery. Seen with my other completed models in my ongoing Floatplane Fighter project.
  10. Nakajima A6M2-N Type 2 (Rufe) 11th Air Flotilla (Embarked on Seaplane Tender Kamikawa Mark) Shortland Island Seaplane Base, Solomon Islands. Sept-Nov 1942. 1/48 Tamiya + etch IP and resin seat. An old kit from the 1970’s but a really enjoyable build. WIP cane be found here.
  11. I’m in. As we stand thinking Airfix Bristol Blenheim Mk.IV in North Africa Free French Airforce Colours. One of my favourite schemes.
  12. Calling this one done. Happy with the way it came out. Decals needed a lot of setting solution to bed down. Just a light panel wash. A very enjoyable build. Thanks.
  13. Latest Airfix workbench gives info on the marking options. https://uk.airfix.com/community/blog-and-news/workbench/new-airfix-austin-k2y-ambulance-scheme-update
  14. @modelling minion @trickyrich Thanks for your comments. I have built a number of these older tooling Tamiya kits. I have really enjoyed them. Go together well, acceptable level of detail. The Rufe has exited the paint shop. The instructions helpfully say ‘light grey’ no other detail, not even a Tamiya paint code. In the end I went with Vallejo Model Air IJN Medium Grey. I’m happy with the way it turned out.
  15. Primed. Cowling, engine and propeller assembled and painted.
  16. Just finished James Holland’s “Battle of Britain”. Have read a number of his books and do enjoy them. Also his history podcast is a good listen. Just need to pick something from my to do pile.
  17. @wellsprop I have both kits in the stash. The F.4 has two additional sprues. An alternate air brake is included. The aerocraft upper fuselage correction is also shown in the photo below.
  18. It has been a productive holiday weekend, on the modelling front, household jobs not so productive. Finish the main construction. Looks like I got the weight in the front of the float about right.
  19. The set contains two interior greens, titled Mitsubishi and Nakajima interior. And a metallic blue and green. Thanks for the info on the “hole”. Re colour scheme, probably going to be grey. Below is my take on the cockpit. Off to watch Paris-Roubaix now.
  20. Nice choice. I built this kit a couple of years ago using the Black Dog set. Check the set, all mine where right handed! Link to my WIP, might be of some help.
  21. Long weekend, nothing planned as on call for work (looking unlikely I will be called), MiG-21 build completed, this GB started at the right time. I got off to a good start this morning, postie delivered this. Ignoring the build sequence I made a start on the beaching trolley and the floats. Does anyone know what the hole in the front of the support is for? A light? Intake of some type? The instructions called for some weight in the front of the float, I fear I may have overdone it. Will have to wait and see when the wings & fuselage is added.
  22. Thanks for the info about the prob. Gallery updated.
  23. MiG-21 MFN. 45 Years of Caslav Air Base. 41st Fighter Squadron. Caslav Air Base. Czech Republic. October 2002. 1/48 Eduard (Weekend Edition) WIP
  24. Only have one kit in the stash that qualifies, Tamiya’s 1/48 Rufe, so this seems like a good time to build. The A6M2-N floatplane was developed from the Mitsubishi A6M Type 0 mainly to support amphibious operations and defend remote bases. It was based on the A6M-2 model 11 fuselage, with a modified tail and added floats. A total of 327 were built, including the original prototype. (From Wikipedia) This will form part of a small long term Floatplane Fighter themed project. Not really sure where my interest in floatplane fighters came from, but to date I have built a; Spitfire Vb “Floatfire”. 1/48 Airfix Vb + Silver Cloud conversion. Wildcat F3F “Wildcatfish”. 1/48 Hobby Boss kit. Still to add to the collection; 1/48 What If 109 from Halberd Models Messerschmitt Bf.109W Kit. And still to purchase 1/48 Loire 210 by Fonderie Miniature, if I find one. 1/48 Tamiya Kawanishi N1K1 Kyofu Type 11 Originally tooled in 1973 it looks like it should be a nice simple build.
