  1. Nice work! I gotta love the Papyrus job, it is just so unusual. Forgive me for my lack of knowledge, but what was the occasion for that paint scheme?

    Cheers,

    Bill

    Bill.

I believe the occasion was the drawing to the end of active service of the Hunter with Fliegerstaffels 15. The idea for this paint scheme comming from the squadron badge that shows a paper folded plane.

  2. A change of plan.

Having read the various threads it seems the the Revel boxing I have is a better representation of one of the Full Scale Development aircraft.

The plan is now to finish it as F-16A FSD #1 75-0745. Means I still can keep the Red / White / Blue scheme. Just need to find some decals.

Have made a start, quite a bit of flash and the plastic is quite brittle.

  3. Having finished the majority of decals on the Papyrus Hunter, decided to put is aside for a rest and work on the T Bird.

Was planning to use Model Air Fluorescent Orange for the DayGlo panels but it wouldn't spray well and kept blocking the airbrush.

In the end tried a thinly sprayed orange over a red base. I think it looks ok.

  4. My first entry will be this Golden Oldie.

I understand that it is not a good representation of the prototype and that the tail serial numbers are incorrect.

Planning to build out of the box together with the ground support vehicles. Might even attempt a simple diorama.

My only concern is the decals as they are looking a little fragile.

  5. The plastyk hunter is a bit basic.

I replaced the cockpit with a resin aftermarket version, need a lot of sanding to get it to fit. Not convinced I have actually improved things.

Also had to remove the lip around the rear nozzle outherwise the fuselage halves would close. Needed to use quite a bit of filler on the wing roots. The nose also needed a lot of filling as the left and right halves had different profiles especially when viewed from the front.

Also made a start of the two seater.

Yes I know the seats have belts, but only decided to use the "twins" after taking the cockpit photo.

  6. The T-bird will be a navy machine.

First up is the Plastyk Mk.58

From reading around the web, I believe this is the old FROG boxing.

Not much cockpit detail. I decided to add the Pavla Cockpit. I know it is for the Mk6, don't know what the differences are but it should fill the void nicely.

Also comes with a vacform canopy, to replace the original thickly moulded canopy.

As IKEA didn't have the bits for the bookcases I required, I got more time to spend on the Hunter this weekend. Result.

  7. Coming late to this one

I have a couple of Hunters in the stash.

The 1/72 Plastyk Mk58. Going to finish as the 'Papyrus Hunter'

    HunterSTGB001.jpg

The second is the Matchbox T.Mk.7. Going to use decals from the Model Alliance Senior Service Hunters sheet. Still to decide which one, tempted by a High Speed Silver finish.

Hoping to get quite a bit done over the long weekend.
