  1. Just noticed I am running out of time on this. Going to be touch and go. The SAC replacement undercarriage has arrived and I have been installed. Definitely more robust that the plastic legs. Just a few bits and pieces to tidy up before its off to the spray booth.
  2. You have made good start with this. Have one of these in the stash so will follow with interest. Was tempted to do it for this group build but went with a couple of Novo Attackers instead.
  3. Just seen this. Please count me in, have the Airfix Club Sabre / MiG boxing in the loft.
  4. Progress has stalled on this one. Started looking at the undercarriage, thinking it might be better to fit it before painting. The main legs are made up of two pieces, as hard as I tried a couldn't get a good strong joint. Waiting for SAC replacements before continuing the build.
  5. Fairey Barracud Mk.II LS542/5C 829 Squadron. HMS Victorious. Apr 1944 1/72 MPM + Airwaves Wingfold
  6. Calling this one finished. As hard as I tried, it was impossible to get her looking good in a photograph. Definitely one for the ugly plane thread in chat. More photos in the the Gallery
  7. Got to the bit I was dreading, attaching the wings, because of the small mounting points. Drilled a hole in the tailplane to accept the wing mounted brackets. Was pleasantly surprised to find that when dry fitted, the wings the remained in place. So a couple of dabs of super glue and it was job done.
  8. Wasn't planning on starting just yet, need to finish a couple of builds in the FAA & USN GBs but couldn't help myself when I had a spare half hour. This will be the OOB build. Can't describe it but there was something satisfying about going back to basics, 8 bits and some glue and bingo you have an aeroplane.
  9. Thanks for the tips about the wheel wheels. I have purchased second Novo Attacker, so one will be built out of the box, and one will have some after market thrown at it. Just need to search my spares box to find something I can convert into a drop tank. Was also lucky to find the following when passing through Birmingham New Street station. Has some good photos and a cut away drawing that should help.
  10. Not much progress to report - just removed the masking.
  11. As I have a couple of Tamiya 1/12 Tyrrells in the stash and as lately I only seem to finish models in Group Builds, count me in.
  12. My entry will be Novo boxing of Frog's Supermarine Attacker in 1/72, which originally saw the light of day in 1956. Time has removed most of the parts from the sprues. Comes with a pilot head molded to the fuselage. Not many stages to the build. I also have the airwaves etch set. Tempted to see if I can find a second Attacker so I can build one OOB and a "improved" one.
  13. Could be wrong, but think it was originally released as a Two Bobs kit.
  14. Might have been a fun plane to fly, but proving hard work to model. After a couple of marathon sessions of sanding / dry fitting followed by an even longer sessions of filling / sanding its finally beginning to come together. Still have lot of filling / sanding to go and I haven't even started on the intakes!
  15. Painted using Vallejo Model Air. Started the decal, proving a bit of a struggle as they don't want to bed down, doesn't seem to matter how much setting solution I use.. Came back from work to find the wing roundels had lifted. Apologies for the quality of the photo, the flash reused to work. Just bought some of the Humbrol Weathering Washes, so I am going to give them ago.
  16. I am calling this one finished Not sure how accurate the markings are but the instructions only had a single side view, but looks nice and colourful in the cabinet. At some time I might hang some ordnance from the wings, but making and painting the stores is one part of the modelling process I really don't enjoy.
  17. Deadline approaching and I am almost their. Just need to tidy a few bit up and fix the canopy and I will call it finished. As I am not around for most of the weekend I am not going to have time to hang any hardware from it.
  18. In between waiting for the paint to dry on my Barracuda (FAA GB) and totally hacked of with with small grey stencils that Immediately disappear when placed on the my grey Hornet (Hornet STGB) thought I would make a start on this. As is customary, started with the cockpit. Having just tried a dry fit, going to need a bit of fettling to get the fuselage halves to close up
  19. Progress moves on at a snails pace. All the main components completed. All have now been primed, next step is to break out the paint.
  20. I would be up for this. Need something to persuade me to try one of the vacforms I have.
  21. Thanks for the encouragement. Think this one is going down to the wire. Got some colour on and made a start with the decaling Thought I got a better match on the greens until I saw the photo. Also the large decals on the tail were a PITA, took lots of Mirco Sol for them to settle down, In hindsight might have been a better idea to paint the fin white, and trim most of the white from the decal.
  22. A bit more progress. Fuselage section complete and primed. The point of no return reached as I took the razor saw to the wings. The jigsaw pieces are slowly coming together, just a few etch bits still to add. Next step is to break out the airbrush for this and for my F-18 in the Hornet GB.
