  1. After an pleasant interruption from family, finally got round to unpacking the modelling bench. Work has resumed. Assembled the main body parts. Before make a start on the head. Looks passable from a distance but doesn't stand close inspection. Need some more practice on painting faces, but happy for a first attempt.
  2. I'm in. Saw the one at Hendon recently and was rather taken by the SEA colour scheme.
  3. Good call, I had forgotten to wash the parts. Some primer and paint has know been applied. As you can see I haven't touch the face yet. Progress will slow for a while as I have had to pack everything away as the family are coming to stay and I need the spare bedroom/
  4. Thanks for the advice Justin. Not a lot of progress, work has got in the way. Just spent time removing the resin pour blocks and cleaning the parts up.
  5. Having enjoyed my first build in this group build (Airfix Dennis Fire Engine) thought I would have another go. Staying outside my comfort zone, my second build will a figure. Verlinden 120mm Union Officer. The American Civil War is a period of history that has always interested me. Purchased for £5 from Wakefield Model & Craft Centre closing down sale. Was sad to see it go and it a made a shopping trip to Morrisons next door bearable. Will be looking for some tips on this especially on how to paint faces and eyes.
  6. Thanks for your kind comments. I will give the figures another coat of matt sometime and retake the photos. Will also use my proper flashgun as opposed to the built in flash.
  7. Dennis Fire Engine Airfix 1/32
  8. Finished the ladder. tried to represent the wood using Burnt Umber oil paint brushed over a base of Humbrol Desert Yellow. I am pleased with the result, just takes a long time to dry. The fireman are also ready to report for duty. Putting all the bits together I get I've thoroughly enjoyed this build, made a great change from my usual aircraft.
  9. Its been a while since I posted an updated. Progress is slow but I am on the finishing straight. Thanks for the tip about the decals, it work and I managed to salvage them. Made a start on Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew & Cuthbert. That will just leave the ladder. According to the instructions you can making a working version, considering how brittle the plastic is I think that may be a step too far.
  10. I'm in, have a couple of Williams Brothers air racers in the stash or if I go with four or six wheels I have a couple of Tamiya Tyrrells.
  11. Currently unfamiliar with the concept of "sun". Progress continues - small sub assembly by small sub assembly. Had to repair a lot of the handrails as the brittle plastic has shattered into many pieces, a few of which fell foul of the carpet monster.
  12. Yep. Lots of sanding. The plastic is also very brittle, I am having to repair quite a few parts Work on the chassis is progressing.
  13. Douglas F3D-2 Skynight VF-121, NAS Miramar 1958 1/72 Matchbox
  14. Only made 13 episodes. Only four figures with the kit so must be Dibble and Grubb's day off. Need to see if I can find a left hand for the driver. The red plastic is not easy to work with, hard to see the detail until it is given a coat of primer.
  15. Decalling was a nightmare, they reacted badly with my normal setting solution. Oops, only notice the masking tape when I posted the photo. I am calling this finished, will post some better photos later this week.
  16. Finally got some time at the bench. After losts of filling & sanding she finally made it to the paint shop.
  17. My entry for this GB is Airfix's 1/32 1914 Dennis Fire Engine, purchased off eBay a few years ago for £9. The box shot. The parts, will post a better picture when I start. A number of parts are detached from the sprue and I don't want to tempt the carpet monster by opening the bag before I start. Not sure what I am going to do about decals, the ones in the box have seen better days.
  18. Have got a bit further. Cockpit finished. Now undertaking and filing and sanding session of the intakes and exhausts. Enzo, enjoyed the hi-jack. Sword kit looks nice. Typical finally get around to buying the matchbox version, someone brings out a new tool. At least it shouldn't have the same fit issues around the intakes and exhausts.

T-2 Buckeye 1/48 Special Hobby. Started in the USN Group Build and finally finished. Built OOB.
  20. You are correct, been doing some dryfitting and the fit of the intakes & exhausts could be better. Will post photos when I get that far. I have made a start on the cockpit. A bit bland out of the box so dressed it up with some scrap plastic and a bit creative licence with the paint brush.
  21. My entry for this groupbuild. Going to finish in the box top scheme, in the markings of VF-121, used as a radar operator and electronic warfare trainer. So what is in the box? Looking forward to this, should be a fun build.
  22. A bit more progress. Hope to finish this weekend.
  23. Having looked through the stash, i have come to a decision, going to enter with Airfix's 1/32 Dennis Fire Engine. Picked it up off eBay for £9 a couple of years ago.
