Painting underway. Trying out bluetack worms to try to get a feathered edge. Reasonably happy with the outcome. Just needs a gloss coat and I am ready fro decalling.
-
Quick update, the Gannet has visited the paint shop and now looks the part in EDSG over Sky. Next step is to give it a gloss coat in preparation for decaling, and to paint & assemble the prop.

@Rabbit Leader @AdrianMF Thanks for the info. By sticky-out thingeys I take it you are not talking about the trumpet looking items that you attached to the engine front but the small protrusions molded as part C1, the front of the cowling.

The kit came together very quickly, ready for paint.

Back in a time when we could go to airshows, I was at the East Kirkby Airshow (Aug 2017) when I first saw the Aircraft Restoration Company's (ARCo) Blenheim IF display. The display inspired me and I decided I want to build a Blenheim. The Blenheim Society had a stall at the airshow, with an Airfix Blenheim for sale, so I bought it. This will form the basis of my build as I attempt to replicate ARCo aircraft. I have purchased an aftermarket gunpack and will raid the decals spares box for the markings. The plan is to build this in flight. More information on the ARCo Blenheim can be found here.

Finally got round to starting this. Surprise Surprise I started with the cockpit.

Thanks. Made a bit of progress, primed and ready for paint. Made a decision on the decal option, was going with HMS Ark Royal, but now going with an aircraft from HMS Eagle., because i just discovered my grandfather served on the previous HMS Eagle,

@TonyOD thanks. no idea what it says on the side. Tried Googling, didn’t get anywhere.

I’ve just succumbed and ordered one. Will look good alongside my 1/48 Floatfire and Wildcatfish.

RAF Tilly 1/48 Tamiya Utility Vehicle 10HP I understand that the RAF didn't operate this type of vehicle, but I liked the colour. This is a Gem of a little kit (bar the decals).- 84 replies

The final bit and prices have been added. Just waiting for the paint on the canvas to dry then I am calling this finished. This is a gem of a kit, well engineered, goes together like a dream. Think I may be on the look out for some more Tamiya 1/48 vehicles. -

Moved to decal, I had real trouble with the supplied decals, they didn't not want to release from the back before disintegrating. Binned them and raided my spares looking for suitable lettering. (hope this is acceptable?). In the end just went with the RAF lettering couldn't find small enough roundels for the wing / rear. I found that he body just clipped on too the chassis - no glue required. -
Spent a painful 60mins doing the decals, there is not many but they where poor. They fragmented coming of the backing and didn't really want to settle down. Ending up cutting the decals up and doing it letter by letter. Do seem to be on a bad run with decals, end up ditching the kit ones I was using in my Less Than A Tenner Build and raiding the spares box. Given a coat of future, and put aside to dry before entering the home straight.

Looking good. As an aside, where did you get the spray booth lighting from?

Just before T, I gave it a coat of Vallejo Squid Pink on top of Halfords Primer. A couple of hours later, this was followed by a couple of light coats of Vallejo Orange. Normally I like to leave a couple of days between colours. As well as a difficult colour to paint, orange is also proving difficult to photograph! That's it for today, off to research DC-3 undercarriage, I need to modify the kit parts to wheels up.

14:33 Made a start. Very quickly I had the wings together and paint the cockpit black, I made a display stand out of some Albion Alloy tube. After an hour, most of the major construction has been finished.
-
Already a convert, used it under yellow, but never for orange.

My entry will be Minicrafts 1/144 Legend of Aviation, The Douglas DC-3. The kit comes with 3 decal options, I have gone for the all over orange KLM version. I have some concerns over the decals, as they are quite old, did test one and it seemed to behave itself so fingers crossed. Plan is to build this wheels up, as a desk display model. Build wise I am going with the Bruce Wayne Option, Planning to start about 3ish this afternoon, means I should complete it before the Indy 500 starts,

this is a gem of a kit, it just seems to fall together. The cavas cover is made from clear plastic, not sure why. Took the decision to paint it before fixing the body to the chasis. Saves any complicated masking of windows, and made paint the inner cabin much simpler. Dry fitted before final assembly -
Thanks. Progress has been swift on this one. Gloss coated and decaled, only three decals and I still manged to stuff them up. One of the ones on the side wrapped its self up overnight, so had to paint the n & E in by hand using red paint and a cocktail stick Calling this one done. A nice enjoyable build The kit did come with two figures, but i didn't like the poses. The long term plan to do a small diorama, I have some resign ski troops and will look for some better crew figures.
