  1. Gloss coated and decals applied, they behaved very well, thin and settled down without needing a setting solution.
  2. Stix. Thanks, It is a great little kit. I do like the early French tanks, I also have Meng's Riveted Turret version in the stash, will save that for another day. I added the remaining fittings and am calling this one finished. Will take some better photos for the gallery at the weekend.
  3. I am finishing the aircraft as one that took part in trials during 1943, this means she will be finished in Yellow Orange. To achieve this i am using the 'power or pink'
  4. Almost finished. I have applied the decals and done some light weathering, followed by a matt finish.
  5. Guess the solution depends how often you need to put it away. I have a semi-permanent set up in my spare room using a couple of IKEA trestles and a work surface, they come in various sizes. Gives me a solid work area but the ability to break it down when I need to turn the spare room back to a bedroom. Before I settled on this solution I tried some folding camping stables, the main issue I found is they were not quite big enough. (I am a messy modeller)
  6. I have a Midway Vindicator in the stash. So count me in.
  7. A great set of photos. Really like the early morning ones with the mist. Thanks for sharing.
  8. Not sure I am solving any troubles, but do seem to keep finding them. I found the glazing and frame a pain. Progress it one piece a day to give time for glue to set. Decided to try to fit the wings before closing the canopy up. The final canopy piece didn't want to fit. either ended up with a step at the front or rear. Just a bit of tidy up then it will be ready for primer.
  9. Progress is slow. Don't seem to get much modelling time at the moment. It did visit the paint shop today, some tidying up to do but general I am pleased with the result.
  10. Add me to the list please. I have Stranksy’s 1/48 Bücker Bü-181 Bestmann with Swiss markings in the stash. Need an excuse to build it. jb
  11. Made a start assembling the cockpit & fuselage, as i suspected every part needed some clean up.
  12. Haven't updated for a while but progress is slowly been made. It was a bit time consuming building the body, I found that the panels needs quite a bit of fwttling. I think I must have got the engine slightly skewed which had a knock on. Primed it this weekend, ready for paint.
  13. Been looking at the sprues, first thought is that it is tiny!. Second thought looks like every part will need a lot of clean up! Hope to finally make a start this weekend
  14. That’s some impressive modelling. Looking forward to following your build in the Nordic GB
  15. Royal Navy Carrier Deck Tractor 1/48 Skunkmodels Two kits in the box, one completed in Yellow (Pre mid 1980s) and one in Green (Post mid 1980s).
  16. Started work early this morning. After a couple of hours, the tractors had been gloss coated, decals and them matted down ready for final assembly. You will note there is only one tow bar in the photo. I messed the painting of the other one up, it needs stripping and a repaint. I forgot to include a clock in the next photo which shows the finished builds. Finished around lunchtime. The base was printed on the rear of the box, I matted it down for the gallery shots. A couple of fun builds, really enjoyed this Blitzbuild. It is amazing what people can build in 24hrs.
  17. Last update for the day. Primed, using the Power of Pink as one is to be finished in Yellow. Main paint then completed. That is where progress finished for the day. Will look to restart first thing tomorrow.
  18. Thanks Pat. Has got me thinking that I need to add Sea Harrier (or 2) to my stash. Made a start just before 9:30am. No breakfast picture, a bowl of bran flakes not that exciting to look at. Sprues below. I think the figures are the same figures from there USN deck sets. Not 100% they are right for Royal Navy. Seems Flickr has crash on me! Will reboot and try adding the progress photos again. Normal services seems to have been resumed. After an hour I have this. A couple of hours later, two tractors ready for the paint shop and priming. Will prime than go for lunch.
  19. Bit of a late decision to enter this. My entry is Skunkmodels 1/48 Royal Navy Tow Tractor. The kit contains two complete kits and figures. Plan is to start on Sunday and build both the tractors in two sessions over Sunday and Monday.
  20. Can't believe its been a month since my last post. In that time I have finished my entry in the Bristol GB and spent a great week on holiday with my brother and his family, Have come back refreshed and raring to go, Started assembling the main body of the tank. Whilst waiting for the paint to dry I also assembled the running gear.
  21. Bristol Blenheim iF Aircraft Restoration Company. L6739. East Kirkby Airshow Aug 2017. 1/72 Airfix + Decals from spares box. My build of Airfix's 1/72 Blenheim is inspired by the Aircraft Restoration Company's (ARCo) Blenheim IF display at the East Kirkby Airshow (Aug 2017)
  22. @rob85 Thanks. Had tried various stands both homemade and commercial before happening on this design. Was inspired by a photo of an old wooden desk model.. I called this finished, Only after taking the photo did I notice I had missed of a couple of aerials. Will attached them before taking the gallery shots. Really enjoyed this build. Hopefully I have done justice to the Aircraft L6739 operated by ARCo. that inspired this build.
  23. @PeterB tempting, but no. I would need to scratch build a LST, approx 1.3m in length. Might look to hang it from the ceiling!
  24. My entry will be the Kovozávody Prostějov 1/72 Piper L-4 with Brodie Hook. The Brodie landing system was a method of landing light aeroplane devised by James H Brodie, a Captain of the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. The method of landing involved catching a hook attached to the plane with a sling which itself was attached to a cable. The idea was the system could be fixed to small ships and also proved useful in landing aircraft in normally unsuitable terrain, such as the jungle or in mountains, and also afforded good camouflage. The aircraft used Piper L-4 and Stinson L-5 light observation aircraft. The following video on Youtube give you some more information. The box. The rear of the box shows the marking options, I am taken with the Yellow-Orange trials version. Won't be able to start for a while as I need to progress my entries in the Bristol Airplane Company and French Fancy GBs.
  25. Completed the painting and gloss coated in preparation for decaling. The decals were source from the spares box and various aftermarket sheets. Was a time consuming task as every letter individually place, took me a couple of hours spread over 4-5 days.
