  1. I’ll be following this with interest, having just retrieved my box from the top of a cupboard, planning a slow build I can dip into between group build entries.
  2. Been plugging away during the week and finished it. Snapped and repaired the refuelling probe a couple of times! Gave it a light wash just to break up the large expanse of grey, only second time I have tried this, reasonably happy how this turned out. Final a coat of satin varnish. A throughly enjoyable GB. Do like the Eduard MiG-21s. With the range of interesting colour schemes I am sure it won’t be my last. Thanks.
  3. Sign me up please. Looking at the stash, probably a Mercury Redstone and/or an Eagle Transporter (old tool).
  4. Been in and out of the paint shop, nice simple single colour. Decaling has started, the decals are thin and conform well, but are a little fragile.
  5. A mixed day, made some progress but also fed the carpet monster a wheel hub. Will need to have a rummage though my spares or try to scratch build a replacement. And a coat or primer added. It’s identified a few issues that need tiding up.
  6. Had a productive Saturday. Managed to spend the majority of the day at the bench and following the Milan-San Remo cycling. Cockpit installed. The Eduard Space decals worked well.
  7. Photos added to gallery. I have enjoyed this GB. Tempted by a 1/48 Growler, I will put one on the Christmas list. Thanks.
  8. Just like buses! F/A-18F Super Hornet VFA-102 Diamondbacks 2005 50th Anniversary Scheme, NAF Atsugi, Japan 1/48 Revell + Wolfpack Flolding Wing Set WIP.
  9. Managed to grab about half an hour a night over the the week which let me finish the decals. Also painted the ordnance etc. Let gravity do the work holding the weapons, wing folds in place whilst the glue dried. I applied a bit of light weathering just Tobruk up the uniform grey. Now calling this finished. Overall I am happy with it. Need to clear a space in the display cabinet.
  10. Gloss coated and decaling started. Always like this stage as the build begins to take on its identity.
  11. Spent the last couple of weeks painting and masking. She now looks like this, the vertical stabilisers and folded wings just dry fitted for effect.
  12. In between waiting for paint to dry, made a small start on the MiG, built up a few small sub-assemblies.
  13. Curtiss SBC-4 Helldiver Air Group Commander. USS Enterprise (CV-6) 1/72 Matchbox The stash is now Matchboxless! Only the 2nd aircraft I have tried rigging since I came back to the hobby 15 years ago.
  14. As someone who would struggle to get 2 identical parts, 116 blows my mind. What scale?
  15. That’s sad news. I remember Fratton Bargin Shop well, it was a 15 min walk from my Grans. Haven’t been back to Pompey for a number of years. Where the one that’s left? Was aware of one in Drayton, think it was called the magic toy box, no idea if it is still there.
  16. I am calling this one done. The decals behaved well given how old they were, just a little faded in places. The blade tips where painted using Posca paint markers, which are great for small detailing jobs. That was the last of my Matchbox builds, 3 armour and 2 aircraft, the stash is now empty of matchbox kits. I throughly enjoyed building them, especially the armour.
  17. @Marklo Good luck with the auction. Look forward to seeing a RAF one. Spent the morning attempting to rig it, only my second attempt rigging an aircraft. Started by using EZ Line, based on my experience I think it is misnamed. Finished it with some monofilament fishing line, seemed to have more luck with that. Looks a little rough, but was a good learning experience.
  18. Not a lot to report progress wise, just a coat of primer. Visits from Dudley, Eunice and Franklin mean it’s been a bit busy at work, hopefully this weekend will be more productive.
  19. Haven’t had much time at the bench due to work. Did manage to get some paint on. The upper half of the top wing is just placed in position for the the photo. Next up is rigging. Looking forward to that. Not.
  20. @Rob S The colour call-out is for aluminium for the US Navy option, although agree it does look white on the artwork. The RAF option has yellow undersides to both wings and the fuselage.
