  1. Some work done the last couple of days, the wings are being assembled: But on test fitting them together a problem has appeared: You can see it better here: The wings are not closing properly as the upper wing appears to be slightly warped. This is fixable though, my plan was to clamp them together and leave them on a sunny window sill for a day but of course thats been sabotaged by the sh... awful British weather today! The R2 unit has been placed but has only been primed. This insert needs proper painting before it gets added at the end of the build. The kit does provide decals for the R2 unit but its needs a base white coat first
  2. Goodness, where do I begin... Well back in 2011, Revell's Starfury from Babylon 5, my first medal winner at Teldord, got a silver! The 2012, the Dropship from Aliens, performing the 'Dust off' scene 2013 was the SHADO Interceptor from UFO Followed by Thunderbird 3 launching Bit of a jump to 2016 where I built my first two Eagles from Space:1999. The first was built in a hurry but the second was built as a Rescue Eagle and got Gold at Telford that year This was followed by the Sulaco from Aliens Then in 2017 I started the year with a 'Studio Scale' UFO from Kits for Cash/Simian Stuff Followed by the Milano from Guardian's of the Galaxy Then the Agamemnon Omega Class Destroyer from Babylon 5 and culminating that year in the newly release Cargo Eagle which also won Gold at Telford! The last gasp of 2017 was an X-Wing and Y-Wing from Star Wars, the old Finemolds kits 2018 saw the small scale Hawk from Space:1999 Polar Lights, 1:1000 USS Reliant Then in 2019 it was the turn of the Rocinante from The Expanse, a lovely 3D printed kit Followed by the Halcon Aliens APC and AEF figures doing the "Clean Deployment" scene In 2020, Round 2 released the small scale Eagle Kit from Space:1999 and I ended up building two of them to match up with the 22" version I'd built in 2016 Then they also released the 22" Laboratory Eagle and Booster pack The big build for 2021 was the 3D printed 1:48 scale Babylon 5 Starfury, posed in ts docking cradle Then in 2022, it was the large scale Hawk from Space:1999 Followed by the small scale Moebius Orion Space Clipper from 2001: A Space Odyssey and then the huge Aries 1B kit also from Moebius This year started with the small scale Laboratory Eagle from Space:1999 And finally so far, a second small scale Hawk from Space:1999, this time in a scratch built docking cradle Phew, thats quite a collection when I put it all together like that. I've omitted the 2 Daleks and the Space:1999 laser tank as well, plus a second 22" Laboratory Eagle and others that got sold on eBay...
  3. In the pipe 5 by 5! I still need another Halcyon Dropship to build a diorama for that phrase. I've so far built a Sulaco with a tiny Dropship: A Dropship diorama of the 'Dust off' sceenL APC with figures for the "Clean Deployment" sceen: The one that is missing from that sequence is the "In the pipe 5 by 5" sceeen of the Dropship going through clouds. No idea if I'll ever get to build it, Halcyon Dropship kits are getting VERY expensive! Looking forward to seeing this progress!
  4. Thanks for running this, I'm really sorry I wasn't able to complete mine, bloody house moves I've only just got round to completing my first build since I moved here, was struggling to find the mojo again after all the disruption. I find it takes time to settle into a new works space as you have to get used to it foibles each time.
  5. Oh interesting, I've got one of the Airfix Dr Who kits that I started a while back, I should at least build the Tardis at some point!
  6. Here follows the first of my entries into this GB... the 1:48 scale X-Wing kit from Finemolds from 2007. I have owned this kit for a good few years now so finally I think the time has come to build it!!! The box: The contents: This a pic I took a while back in 2018, since then the decal sheet managed to get stuck to the colour profile sheet when the damp in my old shed got to it. Thankfully I've been able to steam them apart with no damage to the decals! It does appear I have made a start on the cockpit at some point in the past but this is well below the 25% limit for inclusion as its essentially step 1 of 17 steps in the instructions! I am not going to be lighting it or doing anything fancy, this is a straightforward out of the box build.
  7. Love traction engines, need more kits of them! I've built the Bandai Pendle Princess Showmans Engine and Steam roller and got a 1:72 Keil Craft Showmans Engine kit in the stash as well, but would love more!
  8. Thanks for resurrecting this thread:) Having just moved house, I had to get all the model down from the shelves and pack them and it reminded me how fragile this model has become. I stopped taking it to shows quite quickly as every time I did, I managed to break something off! After the move, there was one tap and one guage broken off that needed repair. The age of the plastic plus the fact it was red plastic originally anyway means its not got very brittle.
  9. I'm afraid I'm going to have to admit defeat, but blame it on extenuating circumstances, namely having to spend 6 weeks sorting out a house move just after I'd started the build. Its a real shame as I was so looking forward to having a go at this sea going tug, but I've really not got round to doing any modelling again in the new house, trying to find the best location for it still. There is therefore no chance that I'll be able to complete it for the end of July. I can't tell you how disappointed I am by this
  10. @Peter2 Yes the guest actors were usually very good it was the main cast who were poor, in particular Landau and "I have one facial expression" Bain who were obviously just doing it for the money.
  11. Brave man! My first thought on seeing this was "hope the seams don't split from the pressure of the expansion!"
  12. I was thinking that the opacity will help diffuse the light - what a great kit, well done I look forward to seeing this build!!! I saw the TB2 on Gambody yesterday too and for the first time I'm tempted to get into 3D printing haha. I've built a few 3D prints that others have printed but not been into printing myself...
  13. Only now found this thread after talking to @81-er at the DeHavilland Museum today. To say I'm really sad would be a serious understatement. Got to know Nigel during his build of his Dalek Sleeper Service, with my Dalek, The Colour of a Different Horse being rather jealous of the lovely paint job Got to meet him a couple of times at Telford and always had a good laugh with him. I sort of lost my modelling mojo back in 2021-22 so wasn't around much on Britmodeller so missed this announcement back then.
  14. Agreed, its sounds like a good niche market for someone 3D printing, preferably not using Shapeways! Speaking of which just done a quick search and there are standing figures of both Marty and the Doc but they are the usual ridiculous prices charged by SW.
  15. Well good news, I've found a new house which is absolutely ideal, with a really good shed for the airbrush and painting and plenty of space for the display cabinets for models! I should be taking possession on 1st June and aim to be moved in as soon as possible after that, yayy!
  16. Need to use the little packet of grease tat comes with the kit otherwise the plastic sticks to itself. I expect that over time the mechanism will jam.
  17. I thought about that but there is nobody driving it so it would look stupid
  18. Shhhh or everyone will want one Sadly it on the inside and I only noticed it AFTER c losing it all up
  19. I've had this kit in the stash for years then last year while trying to break myself out of the failure of the modelling mojo I made a start but gave it up because of lack of aforementioned mojo. Finally I've been able to return to it and complete the build. The build thread is here and here it is complete! This kit also has a sliding mechanism to make the wheels fold up! it was painted with Mr Metal Color Aluminum and Tamiya paints... twice after a bit of a masking disaster on the initial attempt. The main problem I see with this kit is there is nobody driving it, so how can it be flying?
  20. Love it! These guest vehicles were always fun to work out what the source materials were!
  21. Finally got round to taking the photos of the completed model... and now 'flying' The problem with posing it flying is there is nobody driving it I enjoyed this build, its been something I've wanted to build for a long time but never got round to it. I'll do an RFI thread as well just for completeness:
  22. We the news yesterday has thrown a total spanner in the works - my landlords have decided they want to sell the house I'm living in so I need to be out by 14th July Now I need to focus on finding a new place to live - not a great weekend to be doing it on with the bank holiday - and then packing and moving, so I don't know if I'm going to have time to progress this much further I'm not best pleased as you can imagine... The latest bit of work was reproducing this small piece from the other kit's deck on the repair. this was just a couple of pieces of plastic card and strip. The other kit is now back in its box and on its way back to Amazon!
