Revell 1996 Tigermeet in 1/72
hillstar replied to hillstar's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
It doesn't fit at all, not in real life, not in scale... The Shelter from Revell is not really 1/72, even if it is sold as such. It is more something like 1/100 I guess. Still, in real life a Tonka needs to have the wings in something like 60°-70° as far as I know to fit into the shelter. -
Second Tonka, which I started during this group build can be found here
-
Hey Guys, this Tonka was started as part of the Tonka Group build, but was not finished in time. I finally made it and finished this Tonka. The build is mainly out of the box, but I made three little changes: 1.) Shorter Radar-Warning Antenna 2.) lowered the Front-Wheel 3.) turned the BOZ-101, so that it doesn't shoot towards the aircraft anymore. Here are the pictures, I hope you like it... coming soon: Revell 04361 (Tornado IDS Tigermeet 1998 from AG51)...

I am sorry, but because of a business trip this week and a lot of work the last two weeks I will not be able to finish my other two Tonkas in time for the group build. But they will be finished of course and presented here as soon as I am done...

1/72 Tornado ECR 1994 Cambrai TigerMeet
hillstar replied to hillstar's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Just 5??? My wife would be glad if I would tell her that I have just 5... -
If someone is willing and able to send me some spares for 1/72 Tonkas to Germany I would be glad. I am searching specially for Droptanks and some left over Decals. Here my priority is the numbers of the Aircrafts and the general stencils. Please write me a PN if you got something
-
My "Problem" is that because of my daughter, my wife and my vintage car I have only time left to work during the weekends, early in the morning for about 1-2 hours on those Aircrafts. So I do not know if the last Tonka will make it. There is a high chance that the second will make it right in time.

Ok, here are the next few steps... Tonka 2 has been painted and the first stripes are on. I am not really happy with the decals as they don't fit as good as I want them to. Normally all stripes should connect to each other, in my case it doesn't work. No matter how I try it, it either fits on the one side, or on the other side... But I will continue now and will finish it the way it is. It looks somehow good, anyway... And the last one is ready to get some paint!

hillstar replied to hillstar's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Decals are from MPD Mini Print Decals (ordered from Hannats Co Uk), Kit is from Revell. Both have been ordered online -
--> DONE! --> Coming up Next! --> Last one for the Group Build The next two Tornados will be done, don't know if I will make it in time for the Group Build, but I will continue my production line until all three Tonkas are RFI. And then I can start finishing some of the others that I have here in Waiting Position...

1/72 Tornado IDS BlackThunder
hillstar replied to hillstar's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
It had received so much gloss coat that my wife could put her lipstick on by looking into the wings... CALL ME STUPID!!!! I always got the tip to cut something here and there, but all decals had been under a finishing coat. So this was no option. But to mask the Decals and re-paint the inside with black? How simple is that??? -
Already done

hillstar replied to hillstar's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Yes you are right, the tiger stripes are not included in the decal sheet. But anyway, on the few pictures that I have found on the net the aircraft was never carrying them. Only the two other Tonkas had them on. So I am planning on building at least one of them with those Tanks added Planned to be build --> -
Hello Everyone, I just wanted to share one of my not so good Tornados. I still like that Aircraft because it took me a lot of effort. Silvering of the Decals is not very nice, but it was to late to change anything there. Here are some pictures...

Hello Everyone, this here is my contribution to the Tornado Group Build and I just want to share this with all of you. Hope you like it... Original 1994 - The first Tiger airplane of the 321 tigers is given birth. It is designed for the Cambrai Tigermeet in France and presented to the world in the course of a squadron party on the 29.04.94. There are no limitations except that the wing sweep area within the fuselage has to be kept clear of any paintings or markings. Because of that it was decided to bring up a tiger marking between radar nose and the wing roots. Additionally the insigna of the squadron crest were brought up on the tail. Together with the 46+36 and 46+40, the 46+35 participates in the Cambrai Tiger meet where one of the other two airplanes is always a spare for any technical trouble with one of the others. When the repainting took place is not known. Ensured is, that the plane was green again on the 15.12.1994. But the painter has been sloppy and just painted in green (without a camouflage scheme) all over the front part. When the 46+35 became a grey one is not known but the fact, that it was one of the last two airplanes together with the 46+57. Information taken from here Scale Decals from Mini Print MPD72021 Kit from Revell --> REVELL 04617 - Tornado ECR "Tigermeet" Frontwheel has been cut, to bring the Nose closer to the ground Colors are mainly Valejo Model Air, Yellow is from Lifecolor, some Tamiya and some Revell Colors have been used, too. Rest is out of the box And my build thread...

Thank you...

Take a look here to see the finished Tonka... The first of my three Tonkas is done. I guess not all of them will make it till End of August, but I will show all three in the RFI-section when done and also keep you informed about the process itself... Next one will be the original Revell Tigermeet Design.

YES, I am the first one! Never thought this might could happen... Some Facts of that specific Aircraft: Original 1994 - The first Tiger airplane of the 321 tigers is given birth. Sneak Preview Hello Everyone, this will be the last picture of the unfinished aircraft before I am done. Like you maybe can guess/see only positioning lights, landing lights and some way to present that Tonka is missing. At the moment I prefer to present it the way it is. This wouldn't take the focus off the airplane. Sorry if the english is not as good as it should be.

Almost there... Weapons have received some color. I hope to be ready for inspection this week!
-
She is now officialy a "Tigerlady"... Now it is time to add the landing gear, the exhausts and some of the details.
-
Good Morning! After visiting yesterday the new runway at the Frankfurt International Airport I was highly motivated to continue with my Tonka. So I finished almost every painting that needs to be done, except wheels and weapons. And that is how she looks at the moment... How do you like the painting? To be honest, I love it. Did not expected to have such a good result. I know there are better builders outside, but for me it is very good!!!
-
I wish I could spray free-hand... What I did was, that I used a pencil and marked the outlines of the different colors. After that I sprayed those areas that do not touch each other. Next step was to mask the already painted areas and spray a bit more... Status at the moment: I need to spray a bit at the bottom, the Tail and than I can see how it looks... Oh yes, and the grey parts at the wings needs to be painted. Pictures will come when the masking tape is gone, as you can't see a lot at the moment.
-
And again some progress... I have painted the Tonka with Yellow for the tiger Stripes, some green and black (not real black, as it should be RAL 7021). This is how it looks at the moment. Now it is time again for some masking...
