  1. Very nicely done. The panel lines look good, not too dark, not too light, just right.

    Re-boxings

Scalemates.com is a good source for this type of info. It'll give you the history of a certain kit in timeline form, including other manufacturers who may have boxed the kit. As an example https://www.scalemates.com/kits/icm-48265-he-111h-6-north-africa--1223782 - States that ICM produced the kit in 2017, added new parts in 2019 for this particular boxing and Revell reboxed it in 2019 as well.
  3. Just wondering if there's a dark theme available for this site? Eye strain and resulting headaches are a thing for me and I'm sure a few more members and a dark theme would be of benefit.

    Let's see your dogs!

Moose on the left, Muffin on the right. Yes, we like hounds!
  5. Lovely result DrumBum, looks great! Which paints did you use for the camo?
  6. Hi Keith I so badly want one of those twin sticks! I look forward to seeing yours when it's done. About the colours - I used Mr Colour Aqueous H309 (FS34079) for the dark green, H311 (FS36622) for the underside and for the light green (FS34258) I made my own mix, and I am a little hazy on this but I think I started with Tamiya XF-71 Cockpit Green, adding white, then some more darker greens, ending up with somewhat the same colour that I started with. I'd suggest just playing around with XF-71.
  7. Lovely result and great looking collection you have!
  8. I've just picked up the last one from Dave Coley's. I think £24.99 was a decent price. 'Hanham Hobbies' appear to have one/some in stock at £26.99. Never heard of them so cannot vouch for the business.
  9. Yup 😒 I'm busy with another one at the moment so it's all coming back to me.. In fairness, it was one of Kinetics earlier kits and the quality was worse back then. That, coupled with the fact I'm not the world's best or most enthusiastic builder (I enjoy the painting and weathering) meant it was not the most enjoyable to put together. There are lots of modellers out there who didn't have much issue with the kit, so I'll be the first to admit that I had a hand in the difficulty.
  10. Hi DrumBum, the panel lines are filled with a pin wash using oil paint diluted with odourless turpentine. I hope I've understood your question correctly - feel free to message me if you need more detail or have any more questions

    Klear question?

I used to (in an effort to make the Klear last longer). It works, but I found the finish not as smooth as undiluted and it's easier to cause runs and pooling with thinned Klear. I far prefer straight from the bottle now.
  12. The Starfighter is a bit before my time so I've only recently discovered it's memorable howl. What a sound! Sounds just like it's name suggests it should. Thanks for posting.
  13. I've never made this observation and can't find any photo's showing this. Would you mind linking to a picture that you may have? Alternatively, perhaps @exdraken might know?
  14. I've been waiting patiently since 2018 for the Cheetah 😇 Kinetic's quality has improved a lot since the Mirage family was first released and I wonder if the Cheetah has been shelved until the Mirage it'll be based on is improved and brought up to current Kinetic standards. Whatever the case is, I hope it comes soon!
  15. That's your 'signature'. Click your name at the top of the page (next to your picture) and then click on 'account settings'. On the settings page you'll see 'signature' on the left hand side (PC, not mobile). Click that and then you can customise the contents of that footnote.

    Canopy tinting

My experience with Klear/colour mixed isn't very positive. I find the klear collects wherever gravity takes it which isn't a problem if it's just to gloss a canopy, but causes uneven colour distribution if used mixed for tinting. I find spraying the Tamiya colour first (orange and smoke mixed to make brown) because it clings better than Klear more suitable. Then once dry, dipping in plain Klear to take advantage of its self levelling properties and resulting high gloss finish. I'm open to the idea that I'm just doing it wrong though 😄
  17. That's a spectacular paint and weathering job!
  18. Good. Hopefully bodes well for the 2 seater I'm about to crack open!
  19. I agree, that scheme suits it. How was the build? Did it go together with much resistance?
  20. Personally speaking, all that etch is the stuff of nightmares 😱 The result speaks for itself though. Just beautiful. Well done!
  21. That's beautifully done. Love the colour combination too.
