  1. They are something else, those engines looks like you are winning more battles Chris Dont forget that Tippex and Superglue make good space fillers too, I always used to use gloop (why didnt I call it that, such an accurate name ) but found the drawbacks were the long drawn out drying time and how long it stays plasticised until hardening occurs. I have worries now about the wing root area going a bit like the tail cone, best make sure there's no hanging around stink of the gloop Anyway lots more progress, looking damned good b
  2. thanks for the advice and the encouragement I will look up some deals ta As I said your model is looking great
  3. Have to say I was somewhat taken by the Airfix one too I'm loving what you are doing here As a recent returnee (Why the hell did we go away) I am very intrigued by the parts you are casting. I see this as A future for me too because so many models are close but not cigar winners now I have become hypercritical I'd better seek out tutorials aplenty I really love what you are doing brilliant
  4. Woody, serious question mate How tough are the Klear made windows? Would they be tough enough to stand being painted over? I know how daft this question sounds but if you look at Chis's Hallybag picture of the crew sitting atop theirs the triangular window has been fitted and then painted over in black. Obviously Chris will need to do the same if they will take the paint. I looked at the Kristal Kleer I put on that Wessex fuselage (yesterday), this morning and it had dried clear right up to the edges and as a first try with the stuff I wasn't displeased but I think I am going to do a Klear test piece too. I like the idea of using that, after all I use the stuff as a sealant against canopy edges and it's brilliant.
  5. Sorry to use this for this Chris but I have tried out KK on my model tonight and have a couple of pics to let you make your own mind up wet and dried out a bit it comes out like this mind you I will be trying out the other ideas from the guys, some very good stuff here
  6. Sent you an email via hotmail Working quite well there's an image file of a print I just made
  7. Nice choice Did you know that if you save that image as a .jpg then import it into MS Word as an image you can then reduce it to whatever size you want? Just by pulling and pushing at the tags on the image outlines. You could then print it onto a sheet of white ink-jet decal sheet (colours and everything), cut it out and after adding microscale liquid decal film transfer it direct onto the model. (all stuff I discovered by playing around in Word this summer when making the decals for my Wessex) You would need white decal sheet because inkjet printers as cheap as mine do not print white, nudge nudge Do nothing yet, I'm off to play with your image file
  8. I'm glad your sanding "project" is done Another thought as you get used to Milliput. Don't be afraid to lard it around inside any areas you have to sand or reshape, a thin extra layer can allow you to get right down to the real shape when you may fear rubbing through the moulded plastic. Unless your aircraft is new a certain amount of fade is acceptable inside. Interior colours can weather almost like exterior ones in use. Anyway, off to watch now. Have fun
  9. Kalle hi Your modelling is great, very nicely refined skills and your models are a wonderful history lesson Absolutely brilliant introduction to Britmodeller
  10. And also, I went to RAF Hendon in August and took several pictures of their Halifax, rescued from a lake. The pictures I have looked at show beneath the patina of preservative and age that the cockpit area seems to be very much like yours, colour wise There is black and where it could well have been covered under water there is also Cockpit Greeny colour. Not sure if I can send you a couple but it may set your mind at rest on that subject. Yours looks right.
  11. OK next question Have you tried Micro Krystal Kleer? I hadn't until recently but I bought a bottle off Hannants the other week and have experimented with it as substitute for the acetate windows that caused me hours of unpleasant cutting, shaping and PVA glue edging on the Wessex windows earlier this year. I have managed in testing a window 7mm x 6mm x with 8mm diagonally across its corners. It is actually an irregular five sided shape rather like some windows on WWll bomber fuselages which I cut as a deliberate out of true "test" piece. I think I will be able to extend that size a little with practise and I can actually see through the test pieces too, a real bonus. Otherwise I have been able to make acetate windows before, I just thought KK was worth a try Good luck
  12. I am liking Your choices of beverage your nerve for tackling this beauty (yes, I like it and if I ever get any money...) Your choice of cures As you said ages ago that you thought there would be reason to beef up the inner tail section with Milliput anyway, you have managed to turn a disater into a triumph. Have you really not used Milliput before? I use it religiously (and fill the minor holes in its texture with cyano, perfect filler for filler) I had the wrinkling death on quite a few models before I discovered how good Milli was. Work it wet and sanding is a minor finishing task, spit on a finger or a spatula and the stuff becomes like moulded poly after some practise. I'm in the process of turning a Frog Wessex into another airfiltered HAR2 using lots of Milli. I thought I may start a WIP but am a bit in awe of you guys here. Anyway 'nuff said re: that your Hallybag is destined to kill a lot of myths about these short run kits if your present level of progress is any guide. You had the best of all Military Mottoes to work with and you have done it so far: 7Ps Priorpreparationandplanningpreventsapiffpoorperformance You've done it in spades I am enjoying this immensely very nice mate
  13. This is about to become "epic" You have made a great start to it too It's always a worry when working to old plans isn't it, what's right? What isn't? Didnt Aviation News do Javelin plans years back, maybe someone with the set could check out the chord for you. To be honest I don't think it will matter essentially, she's going to look very good as is.
  14. I am with you all the way with this one I built Frog's Jav many years ago, guess what? I threw away the back end and "pen-nibbed" it Looking forwards to this immensely
  15. I love this Brilliant work ( I think you and Lynx7 have turned me to the dark side... Lynx now on my gotta do it list again. Previous models turned me cold.)
  16. I can vouch for the distortion effect of hand photography When I made my Wessex it was very difficult to get the air box sides looking true, photos just didn't help at all 'til I put the camera on a bench tripod. Then I could see I had it slightly out. I dont think your model is anything but amazing, brilliant and because it's a Bucc, absolutely wonderful Well done, you have inspired many of us to tackle scratch build, I am going to remake one from years ago now after sharing this with you. Thank you for the inspiration and the master class. bill
  17. Immense That was my first thought when I saw it at Telford Next was can I find somewhere to put it (sadly unlikely) Next was is it really 1/72? Because it is immense, with this being this huge I could visualise a 1/72 C17 too, just how impressive would a "ramp dio" be with a couple of each on it... "P" slopes off to "simply dream" Hats off to Revell
  18. I have always liked this Spit, saw it years ago (in fact its about time I took another trip down to "that London" soon) I like the real paint job too. It's interesting to me that the trestle markings and other stencils are so "not quite in your face" unlike those that always look so obtrusive on model transfer sheets. It would be a really challenging job to get this effect on perhaps a 1/72 or 1/48 model. lovely pictures thanks
  19. looking lovely "in primer" nice work Nobby
  20. That is beautiful modelling I love your model almost as much as the real things n i c e !
  21. Thanks for these pictures which have just been "slotted" into my brand new Lynx details folder and the extra detailed info that is so much better than raw pixels ta very much bill
  22. oooh nice Very well made aircraft, far too good to lump them in as "just models" I've a soft spot for the Hemp one myself but having not yet used Xtracrylics I will probably work in Xtracolours when I make one, I like those. Anyway I digress, blimmin love your cranberries they are lovely
  23. glutton love those pictures, has to be the way to a great model, having Gary "onside" shame about the rotor breaking off
  24. Wessexes make my heart work this one just made it work harder it is outstanding I'd love one this size Airfix. Anybody? great work
  25. excellent I just loves these Apacheseses
