  1. yeowww you wouldn't want to catch yer leg on that if deplaning in a bit of a hurry would you There must be 'proper' instructions for refitting them to the bracketry THAT WAS PLAIN LAZY OF SOMEONE Can you tell I get a bit nasty about real H&S, not the usual BS looks like a good resource too And now I notices it Not the same type of extinguisher as the kit gives you, so you don't need the flexinozzle type
  2. Nice and tidy Looks lovely and if the door stays lost at least it will be an easy copy from plasticard You have even got the template to work from excellent
  3. Nice hole Nigel Persoomably them thar numbers is millimotors then. I think I will save 'em in my pooter file for services to render in future if you don't mind awfully. Always good to have 'dims' for a 'stingusher How was E. Kilbride? I can't remember much about it, I was about 13 last time I was there.
  4. Lovely Just the picture I wanted, nice upper detail for the AIM rails I did see that in Tesco, almost certainly going to pick it up there this weekend Still not decided which version I'm doing My Airfix kit was a cheapo 50p from my club's for sale table back in about 1980 or so No decals but otherwise unmolested, with the apparently infinitesimal differences between GR 1 and 3 and a recently delivered Pavla seat and Airwaves etch sheet (I know, I wasn't going etchy again for a while...) I'm just tidying up the mouldings Popping in a nose wheel well and jetpipes so far I'll probably do a minor WIP, depends on these preliminary moves I have a Modeldecals RAF Germany set for a GR1, I may use that
  5. Looks lovely what a beautiful shape they were The engines are marvels Wally
  6. Quite honestly I would not do much weathering, as you say the Naval types needed to keep airframes clean to keep corrosion at bay out there on the 'oggin And they had creatures of evil intent namely 'pussers' that enforced cleaning as a default habit Still have 'em I'm told and no doubt one of the Naval survivors will be along to clarify that soon It looks lovely, makes me wish I'd kept the Frog one I had lurking in a box for years.
  7. Hope you make that two pints, near the fireplace I love that place Anyway, looks like a result with the foil, but it seems to have fought you all the way You might like to try adding PVA to the surface of the wrinkles to make a smoother 'artificial' surface so it will paint smoothly I use canopy glue (Formula560) for that, dries very quickly and can be 'worked' a bit as it dries to get slight wrinkles East Kilbride? My dad had a cousin lived in the Calder Drive area many moons ago It was like a wasteland being built on, weird... EDIT I think it was Calderwood Drive Can't remember the name, that cousin. Funny hopw old age and stupidity makes me forget things Still I can remember the Drovers Here's lookin' at you kid
  8. enjoy that curry I dont half like them jetty things mister excellent
  9. Although I like the later red square markings, my Viscount will possibly get those, the early three (?) red lines and BRITISH EUROPEAN AIRWAYS in Times style lettering is my favourite Mostly 'cos that's the livery the whole fleet wore in the fifties BEA's heyday IMO But thats incidental to this great model, fab stuff Wally
  10. Thanks jagrigger It didnt look strong enough but that is quite a complex system there All this info helps me I hope it stops me making a mess of it, I have already stripped the main leg of the strut at the back which could be the one you mean Airfix merged all that into one
  11. Engines are really so much better now Better keep that mould just in case I understand why you want Ozzie stuff but the old BEA Elizabethan class markings still look the nuts to me Great modelling Wally, fabulous stuff
  12. Agree with the others, it looks great with its decals on Going to love to see the RFI This is brilliant
  13. Nice CFs dude no seriously, I mean to say no but yes but Actually Steve it is so good that my wife just popped her head into t'office and said "Nice plane...oh...it's a model isn't it? Is it?" Then "Why don't you make them like that?" I hope she means red, white and grey. Not holding my breath... I liked the dHG Meteochip too
  14. There's so much nobility round this place I feel humble
  15. PVC always has some softness even when dry, that is why I went cyano. Not much harder stuff than cyano when it's hardened
  16. I'd advise sealing the grain if you are making clear mouldings Fozzy, I used cyano let go hard all over the timber sections on my Scout When it is set it can be polished to within a ninch of its life On a clear buck the finished unit shows all the grain it can find, quite maddening really If you remember Alan Hall used to advise a mix of model dope and talcum powder for that task, that polished nicely too
  17. Thank you for that Scootsah, I thought that would be it I have decided that I'm going to build it with the main doors shut but of course (why do we never do the easy thing) will be having the interior visible from behind so I have to replace the extension jack and dollop it up against the back wall upper section
  18. In Scotland I understand they wear the gaiters to keep their wooly tartan socks in place whilst they wander up and down blowing into their little chanters... Or so my dear old daddy would say. And as a fair musician who could fill a bag and pipe down a chanter hisself he must be considered an authority. Wasn't there an aerocoptery thing round here someplace, didn't I spot one a while ago?
  19. What Mark say, he very wise Love the shininess of those tailpipes I know how they are going to end up, but blimey the knowlege doesn't always help does it Oh by the way, there's an elderly Airfix Red Arrows Hawk nestling on a shelf just above my head a waiting to be copy built along with the maestro's take on it
  20. oooer sounds kinda fun N O T Looks like a blarry heavy piece of helicopter to be heaving around on one's tod
  21. You are bound to be right Grilla it is then I think
  22. Looks damned good to me Steve, I think I would have tried the white decal sheet anyway from the start That white 'printyerown' decal sheet has had a bad press about its thickness hasn't it? This is when you use that property to the hilt.
