  1. He's built a beauty there John, no pressure then ☺ I vaguely remember mine as being G-AXYW in that scheme. I do remember the Scale Models plans, they were the ones I used to mess the old Airfix Tiggie about with I recall the fin and rudder came out looking OK to me. The fuselage is looking great John, I do love these builds
  2. Using Android it takes up too much top of screen comment space when I'm trying to respond I need two line returns before I can see what I've written Seriously considering going back to the old version It is quite handsome but not an asset for me on my tablet Not getting quavering though, either on the tab or for those rare occasions when I can get to use MY computer Grrrrr 😬
  3. When, finally, I get notified about where we stand on the map of the show I will advise you all Trust me, I'm no politician
  4. I have the fuselage alone of an Airfix Firefly, shall I fettle some tidiness into it and cast the nose section for you I think their nose intake area is reasonably decent It could be in the post by Monday afternoon I never threw it away, its all I have left of my brother's kit building days, no wings or other stuff I do have the Falcon canopy though. ☺
  5. Not much indeed Go on, you'll be OK I took a few pics at The Helicopter Museum I can send you for reference too πŸ˜‡
  6. Not nice is it Good job it's Hendie on the job so we can all learn the Way of the Wessex So much good potential but... 😷 Swab nurse, please. Mr H's brow needs keeping clear
  7. I'd love that to be a Whirlwind, almost any scale too Let's get the world rotorvating πŸ‘Œ
  8. I would have been moulding whatever they used to close the little bits behind the props but as it is I can make filler bits from the castings Its a bit slow at the mo' I'm imitating Flo of the Lamp lately, my girl's had a bit of a dicky tummy Once she's sorted I can crack on again We were going to Sywell this morning, not happening now Never mind 'eh! Means I can crack on with this. πŸ˜€
  9. Props I got, spinners astray sadly Not that its a problem, I'll be casting the new ones ( for both of my Gannet kits, the Frog spinners were never their finest moulding designs) later this morning The original, plasticine filled buck popped out of the latex this morning all bright eyed and with a tail of glorious bushiness!
  10. Oh yes Britmodeller weaves its magic again Brian's aviation thrillers are still atop my favourite books list Still atop my bookshelf too, I love Turn Killer, proper adventure stuff
  11. Oh deepjoy I love it when a star blazes brighter And for you to be doing a Stampe which is one of my favourite biplanes is icing on the cake I see you wasting hard Slater's willy nilly too, wow (OK I know it isn't wasting but as it's one of my favourite modelling accessories I just get jealous when I see folks who still have some) I remember converting an elderly Airfix Tiger Moth into a Rothmans Aerobatic Team Stampe, taking it to the IPMS Nats at Stoneleigh and seeing another in the other Rothmans scheme there too, made my day Wasn't quite as pleased that neither of us got so much as a Commended, happy days though I am going to let you enthral me John and maybe look into another one in 72th scale for in a year or so's time
  12. Not able to speak re:Ms E, I do not frequent the place where she rests her bonce but it would be good if she does, for old lang's syne Organising it can't be me, I'll have me old addled bonce full of the actual event, i copped for stand organiser this year (volunteered no less, what is it with me) I have an advantage denied to me last year I have since seen Crisp's portrait so if he is standing six inches behind me this year I might catch on in time Specially if he wears his hassock / cassock singing clobber
  13. I regret, children, that I will be required to wear uniform at the show for the duration Not even denims and hairy shirt and stable belt with tucked away beret, (ah happy days) but the new, as yet unseen burgundy coloured polo shirts with the rather fetching IPMS Brummagem logo and my name My real name too, the chairman looked a trifle askance when I mooted the possibility of perdu finding its way on there Oh well I tried I do hope we can get a group hug sorry photograph of the sort we managed with Ced Keith and Deb amongst us last year, maybe Martian the friendly alien can muster one or two tentacles to hold the box Brownie whist getting in shot with us all I will be like the Duke My trainers will not be polished I fear I am told Tony that we (the Branch) will again be within the area also retained for our overseas guests which is very convenient for the cafΓ© And I believe, the entrance
  14. That groove, I've been back in it again I wonder what this might be? or this? Not to Fritag standards but these will make up the nose wheel and leg when done There is a lot of carving to do yet, but I'm not tackling it with dampish glue, let alone wet stuff Seen here with the Frog nosewheel for comparison, I am trying to get a lighter looking leg and yoke than that one The Frog yoke is rightish shaped but way too sturdy, even for the mighty Bucc The lower curve under the newe swing arm has been roughed out before I did the rest, I needed a datum and the hinge pin/axle relationship seems easiest to measure and mark The axle needs to pivot inside the well in the real thing, here it is just needed to make it fit and look right so I drilled across and fitted a short piece of John Adams's wonder tube which will be cut to seem to be hinged on the wall The pivot point for the retraction jack has to be added to the upper tube A final comparison Quite sanguine that this will work nicely when tidied up By the way, the Gannet is still under way, nothing to show yet though although I am having to cast new spinners for both props from the mis-shape in my eastern Express moulding happy dayze
  15. Great sihrscing Tony, looking great Now listen up pilgrim, you HAVE to come to the Birmingham IPMS table and log in OK? There will certainly be many of us to meet, greet or... avoid if you like and we can use Brum's stand as an IP I'll be manning it most of the time anyway, Tomo will likely be around too. ☺ ( you've really got the way of the sihrsc by the way, very smooth work)
  16. I can lend you a sharp knife if that's all you're worried about πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ C'mon you know you need to get it on Its a nice little 'copter
  17. He is, isn't he... I use Vallejo 70.973 Light Sea Grey for wheel well interiors and u/c legs for Naval machines, I really don't think it is far off hue. If at all.
  18. That is a damned realistic exhibit Maybe its real after all... You couldn't tell Gotta love a Whirlwind, of any persuasion πŸ˜€πŸ˜€
  19. I understand Gopro is part of the deal with many of these Spitfire experience companies so it may not be necessary, if not Ced you really do have to share this one with us all Anyway, in keeping with your more upbeat messages to day here is how easy it is to make the clear parts and as Mikes excellent article shows, it can be any shape in any material that can be affected by heat here is (lets keep it Flying Boaty shall we...) a side bubble for a YES AIRFIX Catalina ready for moulding from Starboard side this un To make it a mouldable buck I stuck the rising window into the upper and filled the lot with Dolgellaumagic and as it was drying I shoved a piece of dowelling up into the inner space (sounds worse than it i....) The outer surfaces were then sihrsc'd and polished to give a nice clean bubble voila This gives us a look at the bubble and the Airfix canopy turned into a buck which is then used to pull a piece of acetate over the buck and down far enough to allow cutting out and trimming Like so You see the Milliput has been taken out past the canopy edges, this allows accurate trimming and reshaping if necessary Doing this allows you to correct any little inaccuracies IF YOU WANT TO the back edge of this would have been modified a bit if I'd used it might not feel it appropriate every time I sent off for a Catalina transparency set to give me the nose turret then ended up using the other pieces but not the turret funny old game isnt it? nb this item is removable any time you wish it to be, if you don't want it I'll shift it
  20. That looks very good Dan, not sure I would have been brave enough But needs must... And it has worked nicely
  21. Oi Im not sure I want the blame for this ye beggar Then again as it is going to be a marvel maybe its not so bad It is remarkable how the screen changed in the production process, framed windows like the Wessex at first then in later days the single bent screen with stiffeners inside The underside fairing looks to be history in its wrong form, coming along nicely I firmly expect your additions to be nice and tidy, I intend trying to work tidy in all my future builds You tidy lot put me to shame
  22. My my, the things yer learns round yere huh... So Steve's sheep is a mother? Well that's normal innit, those little lambsies gotta come from somewhere... 😁
