  1. This is me But I am hiding over there or was that over here by there? "You ain't seen me right."
  2. My personal opinion, cyanoacrylate adhesive is spawned by the devil to bedevil us, the modellers. Flatters to deceive it does, Canopy Glue formula 560 every time using the methods outlined by Heather and Trevor. It has the missing materials affinity when working polythene bags too. When I saw the first view of the engine compartment my first thought was "Alan's use of Photoshop has come along nicely, look how well he has integrated his view of his workbench with the actual Van he is copying! Sliding the bench into the space taken up by a garage floor some place..." It is looking awesome, the petrol pipe's meandering run up to the carb is so truly realistic. Seen that a thousand times or more. The only sticking point in there? The condenser wire is too thick compared to ordinary wires, right colour though. Intermotor© spares right?
  3. ? I mean How on earth? Rubs away the nose whilst detailing and stuff, realises and comes up with a makeshift fix involving printed skin templates. Puts paint on and has unconscionably marvellous noseline contours in black white and red to beat any I have ever seen. Simply stunned at these two little beauts. Thanks Steve, hope there's enough white for your glissading pleasures
  4. Absolutely not I will have a Royal Navy Phantom on the go later this year, the 5 zillion stencils? Not a chance.
  5. This might do, thanks everyone. A milliput saddle behind the cut should suffice to be smoothed into shape.
  6. Not to worry speedy, offer appreciated anyway I might sacrifice one of my blanks and attempt attenuating the middle bit, see if I can keep the curve regular but I wasn't expecting to go in for anything elaborate and over the top.
  7. I know that, just considering the Huey can get massive load shifts with its large cabin whereas Wasp is fairly CoG centred whether loaded of not, I don't know enough about the aerodynamics of load shifting to pontificate. Actually wondering why the H-60 series have such a massive stab tilt in service. Love to learn these things Dave, might see about studying it for pleasure.
  8. Well I did notice some yellow letters sitting there amongst the unloved. I hope... Where the clear parts of a decal still show you could try dabbing a minor blob of \Clear/Alclad Aqua Gloss in the exact spot where they will land and drop the decal off the carrier onto the exact spot hence allowing the air to be entirely excluded. This tip courtesy of dr/gn lately of this parish and was passed to me in his hospitable welcome to the artform of modern model making after making his acquaintance on-line when I decided to return to childish ways and discovered it was an entirely different life style to that I left behind in the 1980s. The 'Gals' is a build I keep coming back to and revelling in, so glad you have taken up cudgels again.
  9. I'm veering in the direction of a Church Fenton bird myself because I have the artwork for the CF emblem in my 'pooter. As for the model I fully agree with you, it's a delight to assemble and no filler on mine either. Wow. Looking forward to seeing the stripey version.
  10. Brilliant information John, all I need to do now is work out 182" in 1/72 and find one the right size from these samples. Yippee. 182.0 being 2.5277 26.4 being 0.3666 and suspension lug spacing at 14 being 0.1944. let's see I have a box full of under-wing-things One of these? Dammit too big... Maybe one of these? Oh heck, the search goes on, I only want one late Harrier to complement the Kestrel. Just going to build it with bombs now then I think, OOB as earlier promised. John thank you very much for the assistance, probably saved me making a bigger dunce of myself than usual.
  11. That is brilliant guys thank you. I had already noted the 'same shapedness' of the US tanks and have found a few in my spares box. I just need the length to correlate with the parts in my box
  12. About that homework Perhaps less obviously chaps... I suspect although I don't know that Huey has the inverted aerofoil to cope with frequent massive pitch changes in service to allow for troops emplaning during varied ops, that way some of the asymmetry can be dealt with aerodynamically. But that is mere surmise which would explain why Wopsy has neutral lift built in.
  13. I am searching for dimensions of the later style underwing tanks for the GR 5 and later Harriers because it seems I may have to make a pair for my GR5 which being the Revell version did not have any in the kit. I hope to be able to draw it up in Fusion360 as a first real life project, but even if not I can make one and cast from it. It doesn't look to have any similarity to the earlier parallel style tanks except the pylon suspension lugs so extemporisation seems to be the way ahead. An help you can give will be very welcome. Cheers.
  14. I had both versions back in the day, both had mint condition rust/rot around the turrets and rear spring mounts too, so I doubt if a mint condition does or ever did exist. But boy did I love those cars, my first one was black when I bought it for shillings and hope, but in a really hot summer (yes we had those, it ain't all climate change folks) my son and I spent a weekend painting it white with paint pads and Tekaloid vehicle paint to reduce the almost intolerable heat inside because we intended driving it to a holiday cottage in the South Downs. We had that car for months until "That fateful Sunday morning" when I looked across the road into the distance, unencumbered distance with a gap where the car had been parked. No trace ever found of it even though it wasn't worth as much as the insurer paid me for its loss. I could operate the door lock with the edge of a half-penny coin, what a car.
  15. It looks as if you can afford to hold back on kit purchasing for a short time PC, not short of raw materials are you? Pondering the discussion of Harry Harrison's produce I will never forget Technicolor Time Machine, brilliant. Snorri? Utterly sublime humour. Better by far than that Sleepery Jeem
  16. What an amazing place this is, always John coming up trumps and then Dennis playing a trump card too with Tim adding even more flavour. I love this place, thanks guys.
  17. That is how I feel too Gg, this forum is ideal for help and advice and always helpful.
  18. The delights of the moulding on this Airfix offering never fail to please as I get deeper into the build. I can remember how 'quite nice' the old Airfix JP was even if it did represent a version of the prototype I cannot find pictures of operating in service with leading edge extensions, long before Harriers dreamed of such luxury. But this, look how nicely it shows its intake splitters, complete with the small interior bracings The fact I didnt close the lower edge in was my fault not Airfix's, now fixed by a gentle application of Tamiya Green. Oh yes and a minute's worth of thumb forefinger pressure. I love the fit of the individual components of the intake ducting, splitter plate on first of course then on with the outer piece Now it was time to close the fuselage with the tail pipe and fuselage fairing, another excellent fit. As is the nose wheel door piece. Tidying edges and the few outstanding seams tomorrow, I sense that I am only a few hours away from paint...
  19. Oh THAT well, tell me about it... Currently trying to introduce Debit card details for a newly issued card myself, to various online etc. providers of essential services so I feel the pain too, Tony. Blade tabs eight fresh pieces on your etch panel perhaps?
  20. Looking forward to joining you with this trip into Italeriland Steve, thanks for inviting us along.
  21. Oh yes Crisp, full disclosure of course, must be de rigeur, non? Tony. s much as I love this working out, passionately would not be overegging the pudden, I did not notice mention of the blade trim tabs along the trailing edges, two to a blade as shown in all the best photographs. I.e. Obviously we do not expect German glidey bombs to be stuck in the hangar with the Wopse. From below I have this little dark gem showing just one of said trim tabs. The very black bit to the left of the blade seems to be the root of the next blade around. Is that not a dangling pip pin or two hanging from the rods? My word yes it is. Brilliant exposition again Tony and a damned fine photograph of some sky...
  22. Gluing a bit at a time Front end done Closed front and back now, try the tailplane Nice fit, lower wings too. Nicely nice More on the morrow
  23. Always at your service Adrian, ditto and likewise a Very Marvellous New Year to you and yours too.
  24. Well if I dont get on with glueing the halves together soon I may as well dump this one Enough strappings on seats? I hopes so. It's enough now anyway, times winged chariot etcetera... On the view of the left side of the seats can be seen the broad strap the harness could be attached to if I was somebody else, vis-a-vis Mr Fritag mayhaps.. I'm not strong enough for such shenanigans these days, right where's the glue?
