A pair of Airfix Hawks in 1/72. Finished.
perdu replied to Fritag's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
I built a TT Defiant back about a hundred years ago using balsa wood (and a clothes peg mould for the rear seater's place ISTR) but didnt know then that we needed to get the nose changed. Pray advise what is wrong with the fighter (hur) nose? The Hawks are way above further discussion until RFI surfaces, wow. -
On which tentacles are you standing for that ceremony dear old alien?

Just a small post script, the bus is finished after I changed the CBT&Co Ltd font on the sides. I was fortunate enough for it to be winner of the first branch competition of the year on Sunday at the local club meeting. Thank you all for your support during this long ride, I intend to get the model outside for photography then I will post in in RFI to close the journey. Again thanks for being here folks.

Port, surely. Right at the front, er, I assume the bit with the small hatch IS at the front?

Oh... They're nice, very, very nice. Don't forget the Hasegawa Jag's nose is ludicrously long and mis-shaped Steve. Just saying, in case the 'begin again' urge hits in the middle of some passing night. I do expect you have already begun the 'thinking about it' work on the undercarriage legs, anyone would obvs. Sorry your youthful enthusiasm on the slopes caused middle aged stress to the ankle. O U C H ! -
Well I am going to be sad, missing 'The New Huddersfield' show at Leeds but having seen the problems of setting up and organising shows which caused my own club to retire from the 'show' scene a few years back you have my sympathy. You will also have my support if you can bring it on again next year. Missing you all already. Alan and Dave and I will be there when you are.

Hendie's 1971 VW T2 Bay Window Devon Conversion conversion

Tell me about it stu... I know this wire is almost impossible to find, I think you mentioned using the very fine stuff inside stereo headphone wires (little ear piece bud wires have it inside them). There's not many other places to find the stuff though and when I built my Wasp I searched high and low... Loving the RHD dash too Alan, a very quietly restrained wow for that too. -
Not being one to discount good ideas Steve it was fortuitous that I had found Hataka paint for my Harrier GR5's needs of Lichen Green and NATO Green and had a set for Christmas. When browsing the rest of their range I came across references to their RAF paint sets and spotted their Trainer scheme set and ordered it online. "Some time between 17th and 20th January" was quoted. Today for the first time it felt cold but not killing cold in the garage so I decided to test the Lichen Green with a spraying mix made up from Tamiya Thinners and Hataka Lichen. After a test coat which looks ideal I was packing up when our local Evri-man turned up in the garage entry with a box addressed to me. Was inside. All these colours. Yummy! Now as it happened I have already found a local artists shop which carries Revell Acrylics and has Fiery Red 330 in stock but Hataka has ris' on my horizon I will give it a go first. AND NOW THE BEAST FROM THE ICE WORLDS HAS BEGUN ITS JOURNEY HERE Painting may take more time... By the way Terry, it seems I miscounted, there are four unstarted IPAs in my box... Let cleansing commence

A very handy tip young feller-me-lad, I wasn't very worried but since I still have two unopened bottles of incahol I might as well use it no? I was planning to let the Vallejo undercoat the Post Office red so the lower bits may remain redded. I have a box of Hataka Royal Air Force Training colour coming this week, was considering them as a test for the Learning The Ropes build.

I still have the files for the logos Steve so no worries there. Hmm so we have an entry in the logbook of fame do we? 95 it is to be then. I'm certainly not denying that yesterday was a very pleasing occurrence bring on more Sundays like that perlease.

Oh happy day yesterday, at the first monthly meeting I discovered I had won a trophy last year, wow. I missed the last meeting of the year, the car was off the road I seem to recall so I missed the Christmas 'do', prize winning spectacular which was a pity because much fun and P-taking with associated banter is on-going at Chrimbo. Yesterday I discovered that my Whirlwind won our Conversions and Scratch Build Hudson Trophy last year. Which was nice. And the competition yesterday, first of the year, was won by a certain Birmingham 'Bus, with assorted horses. Which was also nice. Happy Sunday

During my session in the BM library reading Steve's @Fritag build and forensic construction and assembly of his spectacular Jet Provosts there was some discussion over whether the ribs on the rudder were OK which prompted me to look closer at this one. The spacing seems acceptable and there is no earthly way I could produce replacements as fine as this. The lower gap is where the trim actuator runs across the rudder on t'other side and seems to correspond to the discoveries in Steve's build Decided I ain'ta changing it, to me it looks epic. The nose lamps have been simply outlined on the kit, hmm, no cigar so Small drill and Molotow chrome pen dabbed in the hole. At the final tidy up I will add a dab of Limino resin for a lens, should be good. Not shown here I have begun digging out the vents and scoop locations above the engine compartment, show you laters OK?
-
That seems to be good stuff Wez, I think I would have preferred reading more before I got stuck in and a grey IP would look good in there, seems it was very nice when Steve did it that way. I have added lots of Aqua Gloss over the masked areas first, when paint goes on I will at least have a chance of keeping the right bits transparent.
-
Looks as if SIHRSC time may be imminent, not happy with my cack handed handling of the transparent bits Not happy at all I have attempted to repair my horrible work with clear LIMINO resin and now I just need to wait until all the intake ducts and exit vents are in place. Then I can check it out with a coat of nice bright white.

With further research (just spent nigh on four happy hours in Steve's JP build reading it all again, got only half way in) it seems Steve built 81/XN506 I will perm any one from two.
-
Modelair Absolutely crap for brush work in the hands of an idiot And I'm next to an idiot and I could see it was not working... So out of the box now becomes unviable, therefore my preference gets priority, let's have one like Steve's This is going to be a Church Fenton JP like 95/XN582 or 84/XN470

Unlikely I calls it...

Two Alain, always work to a minimum of two. We can expand further later.

I am not entirely certain that the rest of us do Colin, surely more manic uncertainties are de rigeur for this type of construction project. Martian old buddy we did have a BM goat hanging around anyway, don't tell me CC lost it again... That boy, good to an amazing degree with choice Continental beers as he is, plays havoc with livestock...
