  1. Wow, thanks a lot to you all ! At least I discovered how it was fitted. Some times ago I had the opportunity to have in my hands a real GGS mk 8 (very similar) and was shocked to evaluate its considerable weight. Talking with a friend fellow modeller, we discussed about....how much must the bearer be strong to bear such weight, also under G forces ? I now know that a front horizontal rod was present. It was absolutely necessary. Thanks maurizio
  2. Hello, I am looking for some decent and clear pictures where is possible to know how the MkIID Gyro Gunsight was fitted to a late-Spitfire. I am interested mainly in the bearer, thanks a lot in advance Maurizio
  3. Hello, I am decalling my 1/32 Spitfire as JE-J EN398, and during the modelling stages, I am reading for the thousanth time Johnson's book. Many times he referred to his own gun camera footage, so I wonder if there are some of them available on the net. Thanks Maurizio
  4. Ok, example decided, conversion purchased, many, many parts "borrowed"... just one more question regarding this a/c roundels: They were LATE style with early red color ? (I mean the typical RAF red that had a brick-red appearance) Or they were LATE style with LATE bright red colour ? Thanks a lot in advance, Maurizio
  5. Hello John, thanks for your reply about the serial. I have some doubts too, can you help me please ? . I found a spit list where TZ141 seems to be a FR but in the pictures I don't see any camera . Its previous identity was FU-D ? . It seems to have a black spinner with yellow(?) spiral . It seems to have its top wing roundel with an outer thin yellow stripe. Thanks again ciao Maurizio
  6. Hello John, thanks a lot for your kind reply, ciao maurizio
  7. Hello, I would like to realize this wonderful Spitfire Mk XIVe of 442 canadian Sqdn but I don't know its serial. Anyone can help me, please ? TIA ciao Maurizio
  8. Hello, I am completing the Tamiya Spit Mk IX in JE J EN398's markings, when I come across a google picture where a very well known pic, extends also over tha back fuselage. If (I don't know ) the a/c is EN398, I was intrigued to note that "J" is not straight on its top, but has two side parts. It is very difffcult to spot these details in the one only-known pic of EN398, but my question is: were all the letters embellished by these details ? Or just the first J on four Js ? Thanks a lot in advance
  9. Hello, I would like to know the purpose of a thin white line painted in the rear face of the Spitfire (mine is a MkIX) propeller blade, Thanks a lot in advance Regards Maurizio
  10. Hello, I am building the stunning Tamiya Mk IX Spitfire in 32 scale, and I have a doubt regarding the drop-shaped plate where the antenna mast is fixed. Instruction says to paint it smoke-gray (a clear colour) and the part is clear as the canopy and the windscreen. Is it wrong ? I ever watched at real Spitfire, seeing that as a metal part and painted as per the camo scheme. What's the correct colour, please ? TIA ciao maurizio
  11. Hello, I am planning building an 1/48 Special Hobby Blackburn Skua, and would like to build it straight from the box. I have two questions: what kind of roundels were painted on top wings ? I mean that the box provides a tri-coloured roundels, while I suspect that the standard two-colour were on the plane. The other questions is the colour of the two fuel tanks inside the fuselage, visible from the canopy. I think they were a/c Gray Green. And furthermore....where can I find photos of this particular a/c ? Thanks a lot in advance, regards Maurizio
  12. Hello, having decided to build my very first jet aircraft - after tons of WWII subjects - I would like to ask for some pictures or detailed informations, about the aircraft I choose. It is a Falkland war Sea Harrier, with ZA192 serial. I was attracted by its fin and tailplane battle damages, but I never saw a picture of the whole a/c. I read that its "92" number was roundel blue, but got no detailed reference. Who can help me, please, thanks a lot in advance regards Maurizio
  13. Hello, this is my first post here, so I introduce myself. My name is Maurizio Di Terlizzi, a modeller from Rome, italy, so passioned in 1/32 italian, german and RAF fighters. I come across your very interesting discussion, and would like to express my opinion with a picture that is concerned to the example I choose to realize. It is LE-X, of 242 Sqdn, serial P2967. As you can see in the attached image, "my" example too has a white/black wing, with BLACK??? fuselage underside and a light colour for chin panel. Following RAF rules, this kind of colouring must be BL/WHI with Aluminum chin and underfuselage, or the whole a/c with half in Black and half in white, or overall Sky, or overall Sky with left wing in black. The images shown, plus mine, and the last posted (Hurri in flight), shows a further scheme....??!! I think that two a/c had sky chin and underfuselage plus black wing, while the third, could be half black, half white, with the chin panel in sky. Why ? I don't know but this is what is evident from images.... Here is LE-X, please say what is your opinion. I clearly see that left wing, tailplane and tail wheel vertical fin are black, but chin panel IS NOT Aluminum and is not white.........
