  1. Nice looking model and a unusual paint scheme for a Tempest, nice job
  2. That looks really nice, just finishing one myself hope its half as good as this
  3. Nice Gannet, I had the Revell version but ended up throwing it, built a Trumpeter one instead
  4. Great build I have one of the Matchbox originals in my stash if I could do it as much justice as you have with yours I would get started on it but I couldn't so it will have to wait
  5. The photo of XA866 (920) at the beginning of the thread is in Fleet Air Arm Helicopters is dated 9 January 1965 which would put it in the International orange era and the restored example at Aeroventure XA870 (911) depicts her during the 1955 season which would be in the Gloss Light Orange era which would account for the differences in the orange Willy
  6. The Air Britain book Fleet Air Arm Helicopters since 1943, says that in 1955 the whirlwinds were originally going to be painted High Vis Red, but because it was in short supply and they had large quantities of Gloss Light Orange (BS381C-557) this was chosen as an alternative with Gloss Black upper surfaces. In September 1958 the orange was changed to International Orange (BS381C-592) hope this helps. Willy
  7. Excellent work, really nice finish, I have the Coastal Command version currently sitting on my shelf of doom, this gives me the inspiration to finally push on and finish it. Good work
  8. Great job and nice paint scheme, well worth your perseverance
