My latest completion a long time in the making spent about 12 months on the shelf of doom just didn't have the mojo to finish it. Italeri H-19 with the Rotorcraft Whirlwind HAR9 conversion and a few scratch aerials specific to the HAR9 operated on the Endurance. The fin did have an emergency towing line recessed in it and covered over with filler, it ran down the side of the fin and along the bottom of the casing held in place with metal clips and then faired into the bow 14-03-2015 13;59;26 by Phillip Wilmshurst, on Flickr In the photo it starts at the cut out in the top of the fin. On some of the boats the filling was quite rough and would show up as a vertical line running down the side, no fill, sand, check, repeat for that. The navigation lights were recessed in the side of the fin and would be turned out manually by the lookout when they were required Willy

The Observers windows are included, with inserts for the civil versions

Its not a simple throw together kit, the wing halves need a lot of thinning down and there is a fairly large gap between the wing to fuselage join, lots of sanding needed on the mating surfaces , the decals are tricky once you lay them down they are pretty hard to move if they are not in the correct position and you definately need to shorten the wing walkway markings to make them more manageable but if you have any experience with limited run kits you should be fine and probably make a better effort than I managed. Inspired by my trip to the Yeovilton Air Day in 2018 this is my latest attempt the 1/72 Sova M Dassault Falcon 50 Surmar, typical short run kit lots of filling, the interior is bare except for the cockpit so I scratchbuilt the area around the observers positions to fill the area around the observation windows, the rest of the windows were blanked off as these aircraft seem to fly with blinds drawn down alot of the time. The surface detail is very nice and the decals are very thin which means the walkway lines on the wings are best cut to shorter lengths to prevent them folding over on themselves. A couple of 1/350 scale submarines
dolphin38 replied to Orso's topic in Ready for Inspection - Maritime
I served on Trenchant during this trial, we were used as we getting near to our refit period and all the tiles had been removed from the aft end of the boat so they could paint it I think the blue was sourced from a local DIY store and the grey came from a Type 23 that was in the dockyard at the time. The trial was carried out as submarines were carrying out more ops in the Med and Gulf, but unfortunately the trial was carried out in the North Atlantic which meant we stuck out like a sore thumb Torbay was painted in a very dark plum colour. there were a couple of variations the blue was over painted in grey and then black as you can see from the picture it weathered quite badly. trencpay by Phillip Wilmshurst, on Flickr -

I don't think it is a mirror image, the bracket in the red area doesnt seem to appear in the blue are so i'm not convinced there is a flare pack on the aft section but I could be wrong, unfortunately I couldn't take pictures of the aft area of the DAS because of the way the aircraft were parked. 1 by Phillip Wilmshurst, on Flickr -

A few pictures of the FLIR fit on a Merlin HM2 and a picture of ZH841 which has the FLIR fitted on the Stbd side and a weapon Pylon on the Port side, notice that the FLIR fit for the HM1 in my previous post and the HM2 in this post is different.
