  1. I used to like this kit. Built about 4 about at different times. And I very much remember that box top too-!!! Nicely done Alain.
  2. Another Classic that would be nice to see again is the SAAB Draken.
  3. Made one but the decals were awful. Most of the items I wanted to use broke up!!! I hope the decals are better in this re release.
  4. Probably a bit late now, but you could have tried RLM 'silber'. It's available in the xtracolor or xtra crylix ranges. It's a dull matt silver and it might have been okay used on some panels.
  5. A bit busy over my house this morning. In the past hour four USAF C-130J all heading in a southerly direction about 5 minutes apart. And all from Prestwick. I wonder where they are heading. Or should one not ask questions?
  6. I understood that FKX used various props. Hence why I referred to it as a test bed.
  7. How long will it be when Star of David or the red stars for example join the outlawed emblems???
  8. Thank you. I tried one of the standard A Model Lancs but wasn't impressed by it so doing the RCAF one will be on a waiting list should I get back into kit building. As for the others I am quite happy with them. The CC-137 had the fin replaced by one of the Airliner Miniatutes resin kits thT I manged to get and JBOT decals. I like the scale for most of the larger types and unobtainable in 72nd
  9. I'd like to see kits that could bring me back in to modelling again. Such as any Dh type that is needed like Dragon Rapide, Heron, Moths of any kind,.A decent Chipmunk. All 1/72. And, I'll go along with several listed here in previous posts. In the Classics, the Skyvan is one that I can think of straight away with others too like the PA 28 Cherokee, SA Bulldog.
  10. Very good method. For the one I sent I used foam spongey blocks cut to suitable shape and size And gave it the shake test as you did perfect. I think I may have pics of it somewhere that I took.
  11. Make sure it is well packed so much so that any delicate areas are not prone to damage. Easy to say but it requires careful thought and plannning. And keep a eye on weight for postage shipping costs. I successfully sent a model to the US recently with no damage reported.
  12. Fair dos. What about the Frog/ Or whoever had/have those moulds. Are they still around?? Anyway, I never really liked it as a type.
  13. Just wondered, while on the subject of bombers, why these two haven't yet appeared in the Airfix re tools. I know of the Revell Halfaxes and italeri Stirlings but to be sure, Airfix would do a somewhat nicer kit of each of them.
  14. Yes but neither of them are that good. True a bit better than the older Airfix ones but new tools lof them would be welcome I'm sure.
  15. What about the Wellingtons? And does the Airfix policy include the reason why no new Halifax or Stirling???
  16. According to my book on the CFS RAF Little Rissington, 1946 to 1976, XM698 was not used by the CFS. At least it doesn't feature on the list of Gnats used by them. Hope this helps. p.s. It might have worn the emblem for publicity and air show demos.
  17. Nice. But I think you are OK with blue rib tapes on tops of wings And I believe pink ones to the underside of wings.
  18. One in New Zealand and is now in the MOTAT museum, Auckland. It was used as a aerial survey and mapping platform . All in white with red trim. Registration ZK-AHO. Decals by Old Model Decals in NZ now available from Jay's Model Kits.
  19. I reckon the Rufe could be the Jo-Han kit. That had a pure scheme.
  20. I have moved on as much as I can from war like models by focusing on civilian operated Aircraft mainly. I have become a bit of a pacifist but draw the line at supporting the political side and will not pander to the CND camp. True, kit manufacturers continue producing Spitfires and ME109s etc galore and they are the money makersfor those manufacturers. But for a long time, I have always wanted kits of general aviation to build reflecting my spotting days of the time. But those types were very few. But with the likes of A Model Avis and some others those types have become available. Better still VFRModels with 3D kits are coming to the fore. Sadly though it's a bit too late as I am or have ceased my modelling activity. But as many have seen here, I have made a fair few models in non camo finishes and even gone to the extent of finishing some fighters in authentic civvy schemes like Mustangs, Spitfires etc. So for those who hanker after kits with non warlike looks, keep on hoping. There are those kits about . By the way, on FB there is a group(Old Kits and models) showing images of kits going back to the early 50s and all manner of non military subjects. Among them, farm carts lots and lots of cars, boats animals, civil aeroplanes people boats and shops of every kind. I wonder where all the tooling is now. Probably melted down to make a tank!
  21. I have generally gone to 1/144 scale for subjects that haven't or are hard to get in 1/72. Check out my RFIs for pics of my large types in RCAF schemes. Also because I don't have space to store large types in 72nd. One can build an impressive collection of heavies in 1/144.
  22. Cute. The fuselage looks like it was once an Albatross WW1 fighter with Fokkeresque tail feathers.
  23. Quite honestly, I like the Airfix kit having built two, both, the same scheme as I sold one of them. Despite the panel lines which are not that bad and yes, nowhere near as refined as the Fujimi kit that is better. The biggest let down for me on the Airfix kit is the missing vents to the intake splitter plates. But hey ho I'm easily pleased.
