  1. RE the above., I think and hope all will be sorted. Originally we were going head to Rotorua (after doing the Northern peninsular) but decided not to as we'd been there before and drop the car off there. The plan now is to head North to Paihia for a few days after spending time in Auckland, then coming back south and finding a hotel near Ardmore for another night, visiting the NZ Warbirds and hopefully Avspecs next day. Then taking the car to drop off at Auckland airport for the flight south to Wellington for a night or two before crossing over to the South Island and continuing the road trip touring there. Am hoping to re visit Omaka, Wigram and a first time visit to the Croydon Aircraft Company down at Mandeville. This lot will satisfy me. In between all this there will visits to many other places as the wife and friend will have their choices satisfied.
  2. Silly keypad on mobile and sensitive touch . I don't know why I bother to use the thing.
  3. Writing from smart phone not the best.
  4. Many thanks for you reply. Well be staying in Auckland to start our tour, for the first 4 days before moving on. MOTAT I visited the last time I was there in 2019 but the war memorial will be on the the agenda. It now looks like we will have enough time in. Auckland but will have to see if it includes the weekend.
  5. Thanks. It is the main attraction for me. I need to figure out where we will be once our itinerary is set. I'll check by writing to NZ Warbirds to let them know when I intend to visit in case it won't be a weekend..
  6. It looks like my cancelled trip to NZ is on again for November this year. So.... I would like to ask our NZ members here on their advice, tips etc on the best way to get to Ardmore airport form Auckland city centre. Any suggestions will be most welcome. Thanks guys.
  7. Great footage. Now we know how a 1:1 scale kit goes together, "Locate and Cement part...."
  8. Hmm. Quite an interesting project. Re the engines, the uprated ones have a more squarer shape to them as opposed to the curvy shaped ones in the kit. As well as the 3 blade props. Also an aftermarket company whose name I don't recall, produce a resin fin replacement for this kit that may be worthwhile hunting down as I intend to. As a further project, how about the version that was proposed and only one built with the extended upper fuselage cabin!
  9. How refreshing to see a nice rendition of a well.known civilian aerobatic aeroplane Beautifully made.
  10. As a follow up to an item elsewhere regarding a new kit of the Nanchang in the pipeline, I found these photos in my archives following my mega print scanning sessions. Should the kit appear, I hope these photos will help any one building the kit. I took these at a private airstrip close to where I live back in 1995.
  11. Happy New Year everyone wherever in the world you are! And.....let's hope peace will prevail this coming year.
  12. Hope you don't mind, but I found the below photo in my files/archive while scanning prints. Its of a 'Boley' in the CASM at Rockliffe , Ottawa in Canada. Reason I am showing is the extra, unusual intake trumpets at the top of the cowl ring. Was this a mod peculiar to some Canadian built Bolingbrokes? Happy New Year everyone!!!
  13. The 2TAF titles are excellent and very expensive on the second hand market. I had all four volumes but recently sold them since I had no further nees of them Highly recommend them as valuable references.
  14. Typical Yak rounded fin shape wider fuselage as its a 4 seater.. Still a tricycle undercarriage layout.
  15. Cellulose thinners will do the trick. That's what I have used quite successfully.
  16. I have a few good photos taken in 1995 T a small airstrip of a couple of these. They appeared on the UK civil register. Might be useful asa walk round. I'll post up later this week.

    Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to one and all where ever you are globally.
  18. Very nice Steve. Making my way to NZ next year all being well. Have a Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year.
  19. Strangely enough, it was an Air Anglia Dak I flew in as my first Dak flight ( of four)at Greenham in 1974.
  20. ........DC-3. I'm a couple days late, I know but 17th December marked the 88th anniversary of the DC-3 first flight. And many still going strong!!!!
  21. I'd just like to add that another mod to make the M was the addition of a shallow fin fillet. This is a separate part in the Revell kit. You could use it on another kit of your choice of course.
