  1. Very nice. But one question, wouldn't the wheel cover doors and possibly the flaps be in the closed/up position if the engine is running?
  2. I'll try to ignore some of the derisory comments here and hope the plan works and they do come home. One thing for sure Some will end up where the money is like the U.S. warbird fraternity. BUT, its quite exciting at the thought of 20 Spitifres in hopefully excellent condition wiil be either in the air or safe in the best museums in the UK and viewable by the public.
  3. Those were funny!!! Not heard or read them before.
  4. TNT: Tomorrow Not Today. Aer Fungus Air Chance TAP : Try Another Plane ( I just made that one up this minute but its probaly old!!!) LOT: Left On Time ( another I just made up)
  5. I Like the colour photo above in the desert scheme. If one looks closely, (no not at the women fitters) you'll notice som Azure blue overspray on the tyre!
  6. S&M do a resin kit but not the decals(Yet) maybe Two Six could be persuaded??
  7. Couldn't make it after all. Had stuff to prepare for the Poole Show on Saturday
  8. Thats lovely! I do like those Lockheed twins.. They're all 'stars'!!( geddit ) Thats a nice finish you've achieved too. I fancy doing the new Ventura as a New Zealand one as a break from my Canadian theme having already reworked an Academy 1/72 Ventura to an RCAF one.
  9. John, CanMilair do 3 sets for the Arrow. A fourth includes markings for 410 Cougar squadron. If it was ever lucky enough to go ahead.. Oh and by the way I bought my model in the Hobby Center in Ottawa back in 2006 and was the black box with better (much) decals and corrected plastic. I still need to get the finish right on mine. See you Tonight!? www.canmilair.com
  10. Magna also do a Riley Dove with the flat Lycoming engines and swept fin. I've got one on a very long term finishing process but will be a'counterfactual' scheme!
  11. lnteresting production line. Rminds me of a vist to Dunsfold at one of the past open days there wher eth hangars were open and visitors could view all the Hawks in various stages of assembly. When I went there were Hawks for Zimbabwe, Finland, Kenya, Indonesia in various staes of being finished. Re the old tool Airfix kit, I feel it is better than the new one especially the size and shape of the undercarriage doors and wells. True, there are some errors in nose shape and elsewhere with very fine raised panel lines but I very much prefer the older kit.
  12. Carlos, Rareplanes did the Dove/Devon as a vacform not John at Aeroclub but John did do wheels and props though. Magna did resin kits for various Dove/Devons. As for converting a Heron to a Dove it was done many years ago by the late Alan Hall in the older Airfix magazine. Should still be possible with new techniques devised by modellers. If I recall right, Alan Hall made a new fuselage from solid balsa wood and modified the wing to suit the twin engine DH104.
  13. very interesting. The Tp 46 designation number is clearly the Swedish version. It would be interesting to see if the resin kit reaches these shores from Poland. And how much.
  14. Thats nice. Interesting period of aviation transitting from stick and string to all metal. I have one finished in overall red of PCA. And another waiting in my pile to be finished as this:-
  15. Stunning! It really is. I had one built many years ago and ended up selling the built model. But I don't really mind raised panellines that much as, depending on finish, a light rub over the model after all decalling and final coating, the raised lines get revealed leaving a suitable effect without the trench like appearance on some kits.
  16. Poll results! Whats the outcome????
  17. I've got the SH kit and it has been one that I've contemplated to build adding it to my Canadian collection. I've not read much on the kit but I do know the Czech kits of this nature need a reasonable amount of part preparation and dry fitting in order to get the parts to match or fit. The 'grid panel lines on the SH kit wings, will be better off filled leavin maybe subtle hints of their being. But Canadian ones were locally built and the ones seen in museums overthere now, are something to be enjoyed. In 1/72nd you'd getaway with the minimum of wing surface detail as thats all I could see on the real ones in the museums there. The resin insert for the cabin area looks as if could with dry runs until fit is good . So some work but a nice model should result. The Airfix one would need a lot of work on the wings as it has a fabric wing effect that shouldn't be there or at least not as much as has been portrayed by the kit parts! And a fair bit of work inside as you know. Hope the above is of some help. No doubt others here will help even more. Of course what would be nice is for Airfix to create a brand new tooling of this type like they have done with others in their range like the Swordfish, Zero etc. Now that would be excellent!
  18. Does your picture have a shepherd with his flock and the Sabres behind are of 441 Squadron with the black/white checks? If so this is the picture in my Aircam and quotes it to be in England may be North Luffenham. But, there are errors in most of the Aircams I,ve got so the caption might not be telling the truth yet the sheep farmer chap looks English??
  19. As I have already mentioned in the Hunter GB and chat column, I won't be posting anymore images of WIP, GBs and RFIs until my 'Crapnon' is fixed or a new one comes along. AND that could be a while as disposable funds are tight to buy new equipment. I have started to raid my stash deeper inorder to raise said funds so some of of treasured kits willl appear time to time in the For Sale page. Cheers everone. Ignore all this c%%p above. Camera is back and working again. But will still be getting a new one sometime!!!
  20. There won't be anymore pics of this build sadly. My camera is F*******!!!!! I have made a comment to this fact in the chat pages. Sorry everyone. Although the model has been painted up now and awaits final bits and a decal scheme to be chosen. The same goes for any other GB I have entered, I won't be there.
  21. Just as an aside, in the for sale column, I have added the Airdecal decals for the long nose Hunter WITH resin nose conversion. So anybody here stuck with doing a Hunter with a difference take a look. Cheers. Sorry ...now SOLD!
  22. Some pics of the quite quick progress. I don't intend to add any 'frills' and spills to this one. The kit is quite adequate for my tastes, and they vary, but will do my best with it ahving already built one before. Still undecided in finish and markings. Since these pics., the wings have been fitted and a coat of primer has been applied.
  23. Afew more pics of work done so far. Instrument panels painted up. Two options given? Main wheel bay in place. Nice detail. Vents front and rear filled. One side sanded. The new nose ones will be added later. Cockpit assembled. Some of the other resin parts. I particularly like the seats! The tail plane anomalies. The lower one in this view moved abit when taking the picture ,but the outline and size error can be seen. With the wings overlayed to the plans. The outline and size are spot on in contrast to the rear 'feathers'!
  24. OK. Here are mine: 1/72nd first up.... PJ Products F.4 in Belgian markings. Matchbox T.8 and Modeldecals. Airfix FGA.9 from their first retool of the kit (eagerly await the next to todays standard.. ..) Modeldecals. I noticed the missing nose wheel doors and pitot by the way. Revell F.6 and Modeldecals. This one too has a missing nose door! doh!! It'll be in the box where it lives, hopefully. And the 1/48th ones Academy standard kit with some improved parts from Aeroclub and Xtradecals. This model is in need of some repair, not too visible here is the starboard mainwheel missing but is in the models' box. Thats it for now. The Academy kit converted to a T.7 again from Aeroclub parts/conversion kit. Also the decals from the same Xtradecal sheet but adapted for use on this T.7 with the serial chopped around from the numbers on the sheet to give me XL568/X of 74 Squadron.
  25. Certainly wouldn't be white underneath. Light aircraft grey more likely. The red spine etc is rightI believe. Other flights of the same unit had yellow or orange too. But stand to be corrected. There is a link to AirBritain Pics showing the very aircraft in the Hunter GB links column by the way.
