  1. AAAh but.....The Airfix one will have dropped flaps as seen often on parked P-51s.. Tamiyas does NOT!!!! So not only is the Airfix one very good value, it has that edge over the Tamiya one...And has just as perfect sahpe and surface detail!!! I know, ;cos I've seen a test shot.
  2. All the Star Wars vids and a few others now all gone to the local tip!!
  3. ...And the rounded rudder whereas they were usually pointed on the Mk.VIII. Not forgetting the retracting tailwheel.
  4. Good job there. Its a finish I've yet to do for my Canadian collection to go with my three special scheme ones already done.
  5. A couple of earlier images taken during first decal applications. The decals by the way are by JBOT from Canada. I noticed after the painting was done that the tailplane has a serious nose down incidence. Comparing it with photos in the decal package it is bad! Its also a bit of a pain to correct the fixed portion of the fin trying to match the corrugations! Resetting the tailplane to a more level position is the easy part though too late for my model. Oh well! Going to have to live with it.
  6. .... since I last posted some WIP piccies so here are a few of some of the work done today in my shed, door open with the sunshine pouring in!! 1. The Junkers F-13. No actual plastic build pics 'cos there isn't much to it but the decal application warrants more. This first view is showing the 'scrubbed' registration letters and the smaller new ones applied. The scrubbed ones are actually supplied in the decal set. With the operators logo inplace right side.. .... and left side. Wheels still to be applied but might fabricate some skis or use the kit supplied floats. Undecided yet. Also the wind shields and prop still to be fitted. Next No.2 1/144 CC-130 Hercules Minicraft kit and Can Milair decals. Also decals from stock for the very fine black edging to the walkways. Fuselage with some work needed to the windshield framing. Out of sequnce, but here the grey walkways have been applied. Wings masked for the red markings application. Varioud views showing the red applied. And the show so far. Wind screen framing from fine white decal pin striping. Lovely stuff in this scale, so much easier than trying to mask and paint!! The fuslage top walkway is from the Mincraft decals for the USCG/CAF kit supplied by JAW. Cheers John! Does anyone here want the Blue Angels decals from my kit? I won't be wanting them.
  7. Very nice. Is that dent across the top of the cowl ring intentional? Because if it is its very well done! makes it looke well used along with all the other subtle weathering.
  8. Thanks to Scott here, I have the info I need now.
  9. The 'M' had the Curtiss prop, paddle blade variety as seen on the 'N' too.
  10. After some googling no luck but Airlinersdotnet gave up some helpful pics fo the red areas. But still need a bit more and an idea of the walkway areas. Interestingly while scrolling through the photos, i see that a number of the older RAF Herks have gone to Mexico. Now I never knew that!
  11. Can anyone here confirm the size and location proper of the red 'arctic' portions on the wings of the CC-130 Hercules in the older silver/white scheme. I feel that its from the forward spar line to the aileron hinge line chordwise and from the first rib line at the tip to about half way along the span of the aileron. The tial plane I'm happy with being much the same form the forward spar line to the elevator hinge line. But just like to confirm the wing marking. Also, would like an idea of the shape size of the matt looking walkway area span wise and along the top of the fuselage. Cheers.
  12. You done a nice job there. It is a cracking kit. I've built three, an E,M and N. Not lucky enough to get the larger fin K model sadly. But I thoroughly enjoyed building all of them. Shame thye're getting hard to find and the price of them when they reissue.
  13. I've placed my request for notification already earlier today.
  14. Maybe so. But a very sad sight indeed when they really should still be serving over here!
  15. Lovely build there. I like it. The red cheat line kink gives the appearance of the fuselage being 'kinked' too!
  16. I thought it was a photo until I noticed it was in this section!
  17. Or is it really due to the advances of technology with the likes of the DVD / Blu-Ray etc taking over that nobody wants VHS! Like CDs have replaced cassete tapes and vinyl, even though there seems to be a bit of a revival in vinyl. Anyway, I'm giving to next Monday to see if anyone else would like them. If not, they'll go to the local tip. Very much regrettably because they are in very good nick in the original box set boxes and as said at the beginning, only ever watched about once each so I can assure anyone that is interested that they are genuine and work!
  18. In the current Classic Aircraft mag, there is coverage of this P-40 and a new photo(to me at least). It is interesting to see how, on the frontal portions of the aircraft, the dark earth paint has eroded away and mid stone remained and how the demarkation shows up well. The following write up ends with comments as to how, who and where it will end up. Makes trepidating reading.
  19. I may well be able to help with the decals! I'm selling my Modeldecal sets and the one with codes you want I have available if you're still interested. send Pm to discuss. Not asking a lot for them!
  20. My pleasure. I've been making Mustang IIIs of the Polish squadrons at Coolham ALG, 3 miles from where I live. So we have something in common re the history and our localities.
  21. CRIKEY!!! For one kit and the postage that comes to a bit over £60.00!!!! You could buy a Hasegawa kit for less! (just about!)
  22. I did see an interesting documentary some years ago on the WIG/ Ekranoplans machines from Russia. There was an enormous one being built but all came to an end because of cash flow problems I recall. But elsewhere and in the states I think, someone was doing one about the size of a small speedboat/seaplane working quite well. Re the EMB 145 AEW, I saw one doing circuits at Souda Bay on Crete last summer just after we disembarked the Monarch A330. It was a very weird sight and something I didn't know existed!!
  23. I did a review of one some years ago for SAMI. Don't remember whose kit it was though I finished it in Finnish markings. As per comments above....'nuff said!
  24. They all wore standard RAF Issue with 'POLAND' flashes on the shoulders and their own pilots wings by that date. The cap badges too were of Polish origin on standard RAF issue. Other ranks also wore standard RAF issue and insignia like rank badges etc.
  25. There are 5 where I live and not one of them wanted them! No call for them as far as selling goes they tell me. Trouble is they are all in good nick and too nice to throw really thats why I'd rather give them away to fans wherever they are
