  1. I'll have to live witout the stencils I s'pose. Interesting to note the nose is not right but thats something else I can live with. Not sure when I'll start work on it though as have too many Gbs and other projects on the go at the moment.
  2. A couple of views of some advanced WIP afraid. Since these pics, the undercart and seats have been added. As mentioned elsewhere, this model will form a small personal collection of my week at RAF Bruggen in 1970. The 14 Squadron 'tooms had not long arrived at the time I was there. Sadly we were not allowed to take photos of them but taking pics of the 19 and 92 Lightnings was OK! How odd!! The Phantoms as far as I recall did not yet have their unit emblems applied but I really don't recall if they were or weren't on by August '70.
  3. This is the Revell kit I built several years ago for SAMI. I intend to refurb it as will be seen in the pics. From this.... ... to a CC-150 Polaris. The only thing that I find a bit upsetting is the loss of all the lovely stencilling decals and the smooth white finish I achieved when I built the model. Oh well. Thats progress.
  4. A few pics of another on/off refurb project. It will be finished in 92 markings again but in the bare metal scheme and blue fin. The idea being that I hope to complete a trio of models as a reminder of my ATC camp to RAF Bruggen in 1970. It will sit alongside my Wessex shown here a while ago and a 14 Squadron Phantom(Some late WIP photos to come of this too). As you can see the model has somewhat 'weathered' and did have a repaint over the same green and around the decals. I have the canopy and odd parts that have come off safely stored. Even though it was finished as a 19 Squadron F2A as seen here it will be 're assigned' As too, this one which will eventually go to 19!! A bit of a swap around as long as I don't have too much bother removing/stripping the paint of as this one.... MR Muscle attempting to do its stuff. A lot of did come off and I also tried that Tesco stuff but was taking an age. Maybe I should let it work for a lot longer period and will do so on the other one.
  5. Well, after a long spell, I have come up with this. Its my refurbed Hasegawa T-33. It used to be finished as the black one operated by the late O Haydon-Baillie(G-OAHB) but is now finished in the bare metal/red RCAF scheme of days gone by. The decals used are those by a long gone company Flying Colours. It is the same subject as on an early Modeldecal set, but since I've applied them I noticed that the fin markings are all a bit too big. I still have the treasured Modeldecal set and may well have to break into the set to complete the model as it has all the necessary stencil which the FC decals don't. By the way, on the starboard side , I lost the last three digit decal. It fell off my brush to flutter down between my feet never to be seen again! A real mystery as to what happend to it as I watched it tumble down so that I could recover it. But alas, it just vanished! And so, on to a couple of piccies. I'll put up more when I correct the decals to make itmore complete. Sometime in the near future, I hope to have the Sword model completed and posted in the appropriate thread I started a while ago if I can find it. Cheers.
  6. Ordered mine today with the special Tucano. Got Pavla set of P-51 props. It has all three, the standard cuffed HS one, Aeroproducts one and the post war square tipped HS one.
  7. Not wishing to poo poo the show but I feel its close to having run its course unless restrictions to prop aircraft are lifted. I think that some of the early jets should be allowed to attend like the Vampires and Hunters for example. That way maybe the German based Me 262 might attend. Also, to me, it started to decline since the Campaign A....A.... grounded TFC fleet for a couple of years though Mr. Grey had plenty of support from French, Swedish, Norwegian and German warbirds and fortunately they are all back flying again now. Don't get me wrong, I love the show and have been going most of the years its been running but the signs of the times seem to be affecting it now and the organisers need to refresh the contents and invite the many other warbird owners from all over Europe and the UK as there are lots that never appear at Duxford. Sure its down to costs but if thats the case, I can't see much of the improvenents we'd all like to see. It'll be a shame because it is a great display and long may it run.
  8. Nice Tiger subjects. One of the Hawk images has appeared in reverse/mirror version if you know what I mean
  9. My thoughts too, John. Though I didn't go this time, there weren't Hurris mentioned on the list as I recall, Could be wrong though.
  10. I might be interested. Thinking of kits by Aurora or original Frog ones as mentioned and illustrated above. Old tool Airfix ones.
  11. Hi and welcome. I can help you out with the Profile publication on the Shack that I'm willing to part with. PM me and we can exchange details if interested.
  12. I can only echo waht others here have said and will say. Marvellous!
  13. Love the DC-6 and love your model!!! That is gorgeous!!! Must get pics done of my one in TCA colours and post here. One can't have enough DC-6s here.
  14. Smashing! Not having bashed a kit around to make it look exraoardinary but this is inspiring. Recognise the FW-190 cockpit cover. The fin looks a bit like a Gannet tail plane . Clearly, as has been pointed out, Griffon Spitfire motors. And some nice rescrining of the wings. Are they the original wings re worked as they look it? Main undercart says Hornet to me. Empty shell case chutes wouldn't be a bad idea.
  15. Excellent works. The attention to details like the 'flapping ' antenna wires is a very nice touch not withstanding the rest of the fine modelling. Like you, its one of those scenes that always draws my attention when I watch the film time to time. The idea of representing the 'stick on' codes is another that could be missed by the unwary. The camo colours are captured too. Well done.
  16. Wow! Seeing the plod turn up in that would mean they really mean business! Quite Sinister.
  17. That pic looks like it was taken at Biggin in the late 60's! So remember every year I went from 1968 onwards that it always rained in May on the same weekned of the show, with the odd exception. The Belgian team also attended with Fougas as the 'Diable Rouge' and also 'Les Manchots' (Penguins) with their pair of Stampe SV4Cs AAah what memories!
  18. The Revell boxing is worth looking out for. It has the radome under the nose and the torped/missiles etc. And the very nice decals with the Tiger stripes. Excellent kit!
  19. Lovely work. I feel though, it could do with, maybe, the skeletal remains of the elevaors or rudder or other suitable bits on the ground strewn nearby. Very inspiring though!
  20. Don't forget to add the rudder actuator blister/fairing to the lower fin/ rudder on the port side of the fin!! All the kits and models I've seen have missed this on the PR9 except the 1/72 Matchbox one (except that it was a bit too small but it was there at least)
  21. Unless you are looking at the F2A which is almost identical to the F6. Exceptions being the guns and shorter cable ducts of the F2 compared to the F6 that has no guns (except those that were fitted to the ventral tank) and longer cable duct plus lots of smaller vents and intakes dotted about. Also I note the era you wish to depict which makes it easier as by then the F2/F2A were no longer around much!
  22. A few drops of water stirred in well works for me. Amount varies though and in dry weather add a bit more.
  23. Don't forget, the Revell paint numbers and names are purely their own brand and the nearest equivalent of their paints to official paints. Go with Brads reply.
  24. I'm tempted to join. I've got something thats been on my stalled stash. Hasegawa Northrop F-20 Tiger shark. Toying with doing this as Canadian or RAF, or......... I am also tempted to add UK style underwing stores for, perhaps, an Auxilary Squadron one!!
  25. I'm really upset!! I was planning to go this year instead of doing FLying Legends and hence looking forward to 'VL' after a very long absence of attending shows like this one. Problem being I'll be on a flight back from Spain on that day!
