  1. The Qatar Mirage must be one of those I saw there last year at Chania/Souda bay airport with a couple of Westland Commandos and French Mirgae 2000s. Might be a good reason to buy a set despite I'm not big on modern jets much.
  2. This is all I've got from a Spitfire. Would love to know which one. Maybe the serials would give a clue if one knew where to look I suppose.
  3. Lovely photos for sharing. Excellent stuff. The islander one set me thinking. I wonder why why the RAF never ordered the Islander? It would have been a welcome boost to BN, who thankfully still exist in a form. Also a possible alternative to the Basset that I have always liked too. But to see it in RAF colours would be quite interesting. So I feel a 'what could have been ' model coming.......
  4. Nice subject. I built one a while ago and finished it as a TCA aircraft using Whiskey jack decals. I see you had the same issue with the cockpit cover too. Mine ended up using the spare one after more careful trimming of the vac form part. And still not overly brilliant but can live with it. It would be nice if Special Hobby would revise the kit with an injected canopy.
  5. The parade VIP land Rover is my favourite .Very nice.
  6. I think that the Ford policy of 'you can any colour you like as long as it is black' applied to the aeroplane too but not, of course, black but aluminium or silver dope. My reckoning and memory of pictures in a Profile Publications I still have, shows that all Ford 3m s were bare metal. But not so multi panelled like post war jets more of an even overall finish. They may have been aluminium painted but not ever seen any 1930s period Fords in any other colour. The odd post WW" restored ones would have acquired a predominantly white with personal trim colours. But for your needs an aluminiu overaal finish woyld be pretty much correct. I have a part built one passed on to me that I plan to finish one day as the only RCAF one pre war and that was the same colour other than markings. Hope this helps.
  7. Just arrived at Hannants going by their new arrivals. Plus lots more Spitfires from AZ/Legato.....
  8. I think the 'safety' aspect is overblown and just an excuse. The Air Fair ran for nearly 50 years or more and its was always a very popular event only marred by a few very unfortunate and tragic accidents. The 'business' aspect is another excuse by the greedy corporates. I am probably out of order saying this but they're just my thoughts.
  9. How about a very nice Jet Provost T3/T4 to go with the very nice GnatT1!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Did the low flying B-25s get mullered or get away? What or who was in flames coming down on the parachute? Notice the glossy finish to the Zeros. Not a high gloss but enough to reflect the ground crews on the wing in one scene aftre landing. And the young pilot with his reward of booze or something is interesting. Did he make ace that day or increase his score by some?
  11. Nice to see these here Chris. Thye look as every bit as good as they do in the 'flesh'!
  12. Looking great. As a matter of interest, I have come across a photo in an old MAR magazine of an ex RN Wessex HU5 with RAF titles and serial in white with a dayglo band around the fuselage and entire nose filter box and still in the 'junglie' green. In use with 2FTS(?) at Shawbury. That would make an interesting scheme I think.
  13. Can anyone enlighten me as to the ups and downs of this 48th kit. I have one and debating whether I should build!
  14. My pleasure. I did this to my 1/144 CP-140 Aurora and it made all the difference. Someone who was looking at it thought the glazing was the kit part polished up!
  15. My frst sighting of what could be a busy time at Dunsfold over the Olympic period just a few minutes a go. A PC11 just turning onto finals over my work place.
  16. Awesome! Just a little tip , should you wish to take it on, a little humbrol gloss varnish enamel to the windscreen glazing would enhance the area and make it look less 'flat'.
  17. OK. I'll give it a go. Need to research some possible subjects that are not obvious. Providing there is time for this.
  18. Very Nice. I like the finish of the silver. Might have to try it out omn my next P-51
  19. There was somethning going on politically. I read that becaue of this 'dispute' or something, the CO had all the swastikas painted out from the fins. But his lordship Hermann Goering threatened reprisals and so the emblems were put back up. Like yourself am a bit vague on more exact details but I read this in the Osprey Me190E Aces book.
  20. For what its worth, may be you could or should replace the roundels, fin flash and serials with those from generic sets by Modeldecal. If you're stuck for these I may be able to help if you let me know which serial you'll use. Sadly the blue lightning flash is the problem Another suggestion here for the flash would be to coat the decal 'once bleached' with Micro Liquid Decal Film of a few coats of Klear. I refurbed my only Bertie Basset model a little while ago in the very early colour scheme of overall bare metal with just national insignia and serials. Replaced the broken props with spares from an Islander and one of those V shaped Airfix stands as all the undercart was long gone! A photo of it is on BM somewhere.
  21. Have a look here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.p...topic=234921161 Pics here of the finished build from the GB gallery. Scroll through and you'll see the P-47. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.p...topic=234921944 And here for the build thread.
  22. The RAF/FAA Phantom MUST surely be one addition to the new quality Airfix range. The more people speak up the better the chance thye MAy listen
  23. I still think we should have the GRIPEN!!!!
