About the mid 50's( aged about 10) I was shown around an aircraft carrier docked at Belfast. Our guide was a FAA pilot. In the hangar there were at least two Avengers damaged in dec k landing accidents. The most damaged one had been flown by our guide. I remember the painting on the port engine cowling of 'Beryl the Peril', complete with catapult, but cant recall any other markings. Later, in 1961 I saw several Avengers with nose art on the same engine pannels. These were 'Champagne Charley', ' A Dicey Do', 'Hep Cat' and 'The Ruptured Duck'. I subsquently acquired this one and still have it. To get to the point, was the Avenger with the 'Bertl' nose art the same aircraft as XB374?. Anybody know?
