Paint rack
in Paint
WOW well stocked. When l first saw this the firs thought came to mind was an old ragged modeler who drags himself up to you and says in a drunken voice
"Hey buddy could you help a fellow modeler down on his luck with some spare paint you may have""

.l am revamping my paint box here l made in the early 90s. its 13x19 x9 inches with plenty of space. l am going to make a try for the top inside for bottles and put cans and taller stuff on the bottom and give it fresh coat of paint. Thought of painting it CF-18 colors and putting the CAF roundel in the one corner and ejection seat warning on the front and jet intakes warnings on the sides all in low vis greys.
-
Man where did you dig that up??
l have long since forgotten l sent that inquiry two years ago. You could be right as they did change their minds on the Typhoon fighter but l have my doubts about the F3 -
Almost reminds you of the Seaview From that TV series Voyage to the bottom of the Sea from l think the 60s.
-

Ok ran into a problem here. The kit supplied decals are well too light in the blue department. l have a now what situation. Suggestions??

here is the kit roundel on the left. On the right is what the real colour should be though the white is missing from this decal

l am looking for information on the parts break down for the rear observer/gunner 7.5mm Parabellum machine gun mounts. l just need the basic break down of how it was put together. l am providing a picture of the rear Rumpler position l am trying to make
-
Here is the end result. The Canadian penny is for reference size. Yes l am have gone totally blind now thankyou

l used the white metal seat and joystick. l also used the instrument panel from the kit but the rest is scratchbuild.
Now l am still trying to decide what scheme to use. l am open to suggestions here.
anyways that is all for now

Well l did what l said l was going to do. After a few days of research and some kindly info from members like Blimp l managed to cobble together a new cockpit.

l had a piece of corrigated plastic for HO siding and it seem to suit the purpose of a floor from there with bits of plastic stips and rod and making new bulkheads l made this. Now it is just a matter of detailing and painting

Hacker,
The Nieuport sure is looking great my friend. Have you decided which markings and paint scheme you'll be doing her up in yet? Great project to date, keep those wonderful updates coming.
Regards,
Gregory Jouette

l was going to do canadian ace William Avery Bishop VC who shot down 72 German aircraft in WWI

So here is where we stand at the moment. The landing gear and some of the flying surfaces attached but the upper wing ( need it separte to paint and decal). In the next couple of days painting should begin.
That's is all for now

Well done some work on the Nieuport yesterday and today. Been fighting a rather nasty cold so its slowed work on it a bit

l got the fuselage all buttoned up and ready for the attachment of the landing gear and some of the flying surfaces

using the upper wing and struts as a guide or jig ( the upper wing is flat anyways) l attached the lower wings at the correct angle
-

l put the wing struts on to the upper wing to see if it will help with aligning the lower wings properly
tomorrow l should have the fuselage all buttoned up and ready to apply the wings and landing gear
That's all for now

Here is the engine added to the frame work
-

l then build and painted the engine and added some back details
-

l had some wood decals in my decal box so l decaled the inside where it would be a plywood sides.

l finish making a seat and other interior details
-

l started this kit awhile ago and l am going to try to finish it

l started by making a new cockpit for this bird

l checked to see if the sides fit. At this time l also painted the interior a linen colour

then l put the basic frame work together

the HMCS Haida is a Tribal class ship and it still exists todayl might buy one to convert it to the Haida but a bit pricey though. Is that price correct?
-

here is a close up of the instruction sheet showing the cockpit parts. l guess out of box it is ok but nothing fits everyting is too small

Here is a close up of the real thing with some of the cockpit features identified. Note the pilot's seat is sitting on a fuel tank. Also notice there is one by the gunner. Now l can see if my assumptions are correct that the first fuel tank must be sitting on the wing spars. The gunner's position has its own floor. Now what does the pilot have?? l also notice that the pilot does not have a joystick but steering wheel type of control if l am seeing it right
this is as far as l have gotten so far l am still trying to sort out whats up front
-

Here is the Pegasus boxing of this kit. l have had it for a while and l decided to build it

and this is the contents of the box
-
Expand the image, right click on it and in the pop up menu select 'save as'. Bingo!
BB
Nope that does not work but l found a way around it by google imaging it. But thanks bob now just to sort out the cockpit.

Polish museum?
In case there are two, Idflieg have a similar set for a Rumpler in Munich http://www.idflieg.com/munchen_rumpler_civ.htm
I suspect these are the same pictures as yours, but the site is worth a visit anyway

Yes thats the one but could not remember where it was. Nice pictures but unfortunately the site will not allow me to save them to my computer. The are a great help but l would like to see if l can get some drawings to clarify some of it up
-
l have decided to build the Pegasus 1/72 Rumpler C-IV . Now the cockpit is questionable and in fact does not fit so l have to make a new one. Does anyone have info long those lines?? l got picture of on in what l think is a polish museum with the sides cut out to view the interior but l need some line drawings to clarify what l am seeing
Well be posting pictures soon once l get the cockpit sorted out
-
Trying to decide what scale of Rumpler C.IV l want to build. l have the Pegasus kit and its ok for 1/72 but l need better colour options for it . l still not settle on it yet and may want to go bigger if l get the info l need.
-
Nice!!! l was at some point going to scratchbuild this one in 1/350 but this saves me the trouble though l hear its a bit pricy

best l can do for you is this. If you scroll down to the picture of the exposed cockpit and upper nose deck you can see the armament
seem to me that depends on who flew it how it was armed.
the photo below shows a machine gun sticking out to the wing
http://www.airliners.net/photo/1011502/
here is a museum example of the inline version and you can see the guns sticking out from the leading edge

nice instrument panel shot.
this is what l found in a quick google search.
