  1. Thank-you John. I never doubted that AMG didn't get the very best information from you, obviously. These things happen, I was just pointing out a potential hazard for anyone rushing through this kit. Regards, Tony. P.S. I still would have liked a couple of bombs included in the box 🙂.
  2. Hi Keith, I'm not really saying that there's anything wrong with the kit decals, but they literary could be better. The blue of the roundels is not the rich deep royal blue that you'll find on the Pheon sheet and the squadron badges could be more detailed, but they're not that bad. on the plus side they do supply stencil decals, which is unusual for anything pre- WW2. You might think I'm being picky, but it's not a cheap kit. Mine cost me £46.79, comparable with Gaspatch's Henschel 123, a complete package in one box. The AMG kit does not even come with underwing bombs. Pheon don't have any wing roundels on their sheet. Presumably the Aeroclub Hawker Demon's Fantasy Printshop decals matched theirs pefectly and it was deemed unnecessary. I've bought Xtradecal sheet X48106 for my roundels/rudder stripes as it includes an Audax. I'd like to see Xtradecal do a Hawker Hart sheet. Here's hoping AMG extend this to include more (all) of the Hart "family", with decent instructions and no silly mistakes. Cheers, Tony.
  3. I'm currently building the 1/48th scale AMG Hawker Hart. I feel that the decal sheet could have been better and the instructions are, at best, confusing. However the quality of the plastic and photo-etched parts is excellent. So it was disappointing to find the exausts to be of the Hind variety but with seven!!! exaust stubs. Hopefully this fix will make my model look a liittle more Hart-like. Tony.
  4. Thank-you for your kind comments, they're very much appreciated. Re. the rigging, I bought myself a big roll of blue fishing line to rig my, as yet unstarted, Copper State Models Caudron G.IV. French a/c of the First World War period having, apparentlly, blue painted rigging wires. In retrospect I should have coloured the line with a silver marker pen, as I usually do. See my WNW Albatros, almost finished below: Yes thorfinn, the wrapped flying wires are simply plastic card strips super-glued between the double wires, and painted brown. Thanks again, Tony. Ps Vickers gun of course
  5. The Roden SPAD painted in the markings of B3504, 23 squadron RFC. I added a few bits and pieces to the kit to "anglicise" it - wicker seat and lap belt, British style Lewis gun and ejector chute, fabric stitching (decal) on the port side of the fuselage and pitot tube fixed to the outside strut. Thanks for looking.
  6. I've thoroughly enjoyed this from start to brilliant finish. thank-you, Tony.
  7. Thanks Mike. I reckon any 1/72nd bi-plane's tricky, with my fat fingers I steer clear of them but I like the smaller scale for WW2 aircraft and jets. Those SAAF SEs look great in their aluminium dope, look forward to seeing yours. Cheers, Tony. Thank-you for your kind comments fellas. Re. rigging: on the WW1 aircraftmodels forum they're conducting a poll "What's your favorite aspect of our hobby?" painting, decalling, detailling and so forth. Rigging comes right up there with painting, so nothing to be feared . Personally the only thing I don't like about it is all the handling involved. Cheers, Tony.
  8. Here's some photos of my recently completed SE. Aviprint decals except for the roundels and rudder stripes which are from Pheon's SE5 sheet. I used some of the Part etched brass fret and added a few scratch built pieces. Thanks for looking, Tony.
  9. Hannants do an enamel, X243 German WWI Underside Blue, which is very close to the turquoise quoted above.
  10. Interesting, yes. I toyed with the idea of trying to replicate it on the model, but thought it would just look like over-large carrier film on the decals.
  11. I'd like to ask one last question of that photo, if that's ok guys. The patch on the starboard wing - is that a gas indicator? or perhaps where damaged fabric may have been re-patched? Any ideas? Tony.
  12. Thanks T for all the info, too late alas for this one as it's nearly finished but it's been an enjoyable experience and I'll build another I'm sure. Never having built the Hasegawa or Airfix Hurricanes, I can't make comparisons, but I really liked the Italeri kit. Tony.
  13. Dipping a toe into WW2 modelling, I've bought the Italeri Hurricane and the Iliad Design decal sheet 'Pre-war Hurricanes'. My chosen subject being:- The Iliad leaflet states "This machine has the later metal wings" although I'm not 100% convinced, it also says "aircraft before L1977 had fabric-covered wings, though most were later retro-fitted with metal skinned examples". So my question is - are both, either fabric or metal, o.k. for these early Hurricane wings? Thanks for any advice that you can give me. Tony.
  14. Hi, If you care to plough through this lot (38 pages) you may find the answers to some of your questions. http://www.theaerodrome.com/forum/camoufla...1-425-17-a.html Cheers, Tony.
