  1. That is a really lovely build of the Airfix Sabre, the weathering looks just right for a well used aircraft. Cheers John
  2. Just started doing a few photos, and playing around with a comparison of the real photo that started all this off. Hmmm. the tail plane dihedral needs increasing And in colour:
  3. Another Airfix DHC-2, you can never have too many, great to see this one joining the fray.
  4. Great to see someone tackling a '105, I have both the the 1/72 and 1/48 kits, Sometimes I look at them, and then put them back in the box... You might just inspire me to actually do something with them!
  5. Short update, all the final parts are added, and ready for decaling. It is a a sort of bare Sabre (apart from the black rudder and noseband. (I have now applied all the decals and myriad stencils from the kit, but need to get time for a final photo session, but for now I have these photos). Let decaling commence! The sheet is on a continuous carrier film so you need to cut each subject out. Very easy to do. Final update to follow over the next few days. Cheers John
  6. Ditto what Julien said, it is looking really good.

  8. Beautiful Sabre, great idea to use all the leftovers! the metal finish is superb. Cheers John
  9. Just a humorous aside about the tough looking solidity of the real thing 🙂
  10. So much work has taken place for so little to show for it! I've been through interminable masking sessions, outlining various panels and then spraying different silver tones of Tamiya silver mixed in varying degress with black or white to make different shades. Over and over again,! Some hardly show until you look at from various angles and the light catches them, which is the effect I was after. First set of panel masking: vesrion-i can't remeber-which of more panel masking. The initial tone of the gun panel wasn't dark enough, so I masked again and resprayed it. It really isn't east to photograph the full effect, hopefully this gives a sense of the multi tone panels. I masked and sprayed the black band around the nose in gloss, with the anti glare panel done in matt rubber black for contrast. I don't like to leave tape on clear parts for any longer than I have to, so took it off as I won't be spraying varnish on this. I'll give it a brush coat of Johnsosn Klear to seal the decals when it is finished. A couple of shots of that elusive Vee windscreen that was so important to this build. Getting close to the finishing line now! Thanks for looking, John
  11. Steady progress! The gold looks nice and building it up in a few layers is the way to go. Good work on replacing the canopy too,!
  12. Nice work, the 3d printing is interesting! I like the colour schemes on the Boeing chase planes, they make a very different looking Sabre.
  13. I'm not sure the full size ones were built up from parts, I think they were machined from a single block of solid aluminium! Nice progress, looking forward to seeing it finished.
  14. it's coming along nicely, amazing how difficult it is so smooth the seams on the fuselage because you cant see them properly until the primer goes on. It is looking very good now, can't ait to see it finished.
  15. A highly original and fascinating collection of subjects. I really love this sort of thing! Cheers John
  16. Ahhhh, nice to see one of Dave's biplane builds again, even if it isn't WW!! Seriously, that is one lovely looking P-12, and as others have said, amazing brushwork! Cheers John
  17. What a great result, I've followed along in the WIP and wouldn't have had your patience to keep at it for more than 4 years. Vey inspirational, and the 3d printing was interesting. Cheers John
  18. That is a real beauty Neil, I love the natural metal finish. Every model you build seems to go to another level! (£5 with breakfast, I read somewhere what that meant, Naughty! Cheers John
  19. 1/144 Airbus A320, TAP Zvezda kit, with 26 Decals This is the Zvezda kit of that modern workhorse of the airlines, the Airbus A320. I had intended to build the longer Zvezda A321 and ordered the 26 Decals sheet for the A319/320/321. The A321 kit came with Airbus house colours but I wanted to do an 'in service one, hence ordering the decals. But Then Zvezda released the A321 with this very scheme, so I thought I'd do something a little different and apply them to an A320 instead. Not much to say about the kit, nicely moulded on that goes together well, although the deployed flaps and slats were a little fiddly to do. It is a bit different to the Revell kit in that respect. The 26 decal were a pleasure to use, with loads of options for all the A319.20/21's in TAP's fleet. I did my usual thing and added some N gauge railway figure painted up as aircrew in the cockpit. You might just b able to make them out! Thanks for looking John
  20. Nothing beats the elegant 'Queen of the skies' Super VC10 in the BOAC Livery. Absolutely stunning build with some useful tips for airliner building. I'll try some of them! Cheers John
